The pictures of the kittens are photographs not illustrations if I remember correctly. I hope you can help! I remember this children's book from the late 's. A large book with several short stories with illustrations. I can recall two stories. One was of a young girl who misunderstands her doctor's advice to get up an hour earlier every day and actually gets up an hour earlier each and every day to where she is up at 3 in the morning then 2 in the morning etc.

The other was about a small boy who was never chosen for games who decided to put on layers of clothes to where he became an unknown large boy. When participating in a race he can't run very fast so begins to shed his layers of clothes throughout the race, eventually winning but exposing himself as the original small boy. Thanks for any help you can provide. I also am looking for a children's story book from the s. I believe it was some type of series, which I always remember seeing in the doctor's waiting room. The covers were a turquoise blue with some type of picture.

The books were filled with short stories. The specific story I am looking for is about 2 children in a hospital ward. The first child tells the very sick little boy that Jesus comes through the ward each night looking for children to take home with him. The sick little boy wants to go with Jesus, but never gets chosen. The other child tells him to raise his hand when he goes to sleep so that Jesus will notice him. But he is too weak to keep his hand up, so the first child props his arm up with a pillow. When morning comes, the sick little boy is dead. I'm trying to find a series of books that I used to read when I was in elementary school in the early to mid 90's.

It was a mystery series about a preteen girl, blonde I think , who travled the world with her wealthy grandmother and always ended up finding a mystery to solve. My favorite ones were when she travled to Holland and a French Chateau. Unfortunately, I can't remember her name, the author's name or really anything important like that.

The series is called Mandie but it's by Lois Gladys Leppard. She always finds a mystery to solve and has a pet white kitten. I am reposting this query from March 9, Eventually books get IDed! Thanks to Anonymous who IDed this yesterday. It was bound in coarse brown hardback with a picture of the boy in the barrel on the dust jacket cover.

I read it in the late 70s - 80s. I'm looking for the book for the usual sentimental reason of having my son born and thinking back to my own wonderful childhood with books. When I was young, late 80's early 90's there was this book I used to read and all I can remember from it was that it had amazing colorful pictures.

The people in the book were a Green people and it's not the book about about the tiny green people who steal. I think these people were at sea or something like that. The book you're looking for sounds similar to them although it has been a long time since I've read either of them. This does not contain a link, so it is probably a real post, unless you are expecting Google to pick it up.

I had a set of about 5 large books in the mid 50's that seems to be named the Child's Books, or Child's World or something like that. I can't remember what was in the other volumns. The books were fairly tall but not thick. I'm looking for a series of books probably from the 60's or 70's that included a main character that had wings on his hat or shoes and they competed in Olympic type events in Rome. I think he had a sidekick that was quite a bit larger than him.

These aren't Greco-Roman mythological characters I borrowed it from the library when i was little and at the time it seemed like an old book so i'm gonna guess maybe from the 's or 60's I remember it was a picture book about these wedding cake toppers who get lost and are trying to find their way back to the wedding.. It may have just been the groom topper who got lost. Looking for a book like a little Golden Book that was about a pond that dried up and a bear, deer, butterfly and grumpy frog went looking for a new lake to live in.

The second had a photo of a toddler in a large had with a title like Lets Play Dress-Up. Eventually it returns to the station. All the pictures are real people. Just wondered if anyone out there has the faintest idea what this book is I've been searching high and low for a children's book I used to love as a little girl. I'll do my best to remember the details and possibly when it was published, but it's worth a try! It was a storybook about a little girl who had a imaginary friend, a stuffed white bunny toy with a little red dress on which had little stars or possibly flowers on it.

On one page I remember she has a tea party with her bunny and puts a hat on it's head, another page is about the little girl in her garden getting stung by a bee.

I read this book around the mids, I say around as my mother made me a replica of the bunny itself, making the identical red dress for my own fuzzy friend to wear. The illustrations were quite colourful and I think they could have been painted in watercolours, maybe marker. The book itself was a rectangle in width shape from what I remember. If you could help search for this book I would be thrilled as I'd love to purchase it again for a good dose of childhood nostalgia.

Thank you very much! I know it must have been published between and - although I remember my brothers reading it too when they were young ish. It is about a little boy who has a toy ride along car - the seat has a secret compartment and he takes things from around the house and hides them. I am looking for a story that was in a book of stories from the UK. We purchased the book in one of those book clubs, the little papers that were sent home with the children to buy from. This was in the late 's, probably The story featured a little boy and his mom.

I believe he was participating in a race. Within the story, the mom refers to herself as "Frogman's Mother" I cannot for the life of me find the book online or anywhere. It was my son's favorite book when we lived in the UK. I would love to find it so that he can have it. Please help if you can! Hi, I've been trying to find two books I read as a kid in the 70s for ever.

I don't remember anything about how the books looked, whether they were paperbacks or hardcovers, illustrated or not. I just have a memory of the general storylines. A boy and his father live in a dystopian time where it's illegal to grow your own food. Yet the father grows tomatoes, onions, and other things, and keeps chickens - all in the basement.

The boy has a girlfriend at school, and one day the girl comes over to visit. The father decides to make breakfast for everybody. He cooks omelettes, using fresh eggs from his hen s? When the girl takes her first bite of the omelette, she cries, because she's never had real food before and couldn't believe how good it tasted. A group of children find themselves somehow locked into a large room - maybe like a warehouse size - that is filled with staircases and landings as far as the eye can see. There is no way out as far as they can tell.

They wander around, getting increasingly cranky and hungry until they discover an odd machine on a landing. It has a red light. They try to make it do something by poking it and so on. Eventually they get frustrated and one of the kids sticks out his tongue at it, at which point the light turns green, and a food pellet pops out. One of the kids decides to eat it and they decide it's edible.

They keep sticking out their tongue until everybody gets some, but eventually the machine will no longer give pellets in exchange for a tongue-stick-out. Other gestures are tried, and some work. Eventually the kids have to do a complicated and coordinated with all 5 of them participating to get the machine to release any pellets.

After a long time many many days , a door opens, and they are able to go outside. They walk down the street and come to a corner where there's a traffic light. When the red light turns green, all the kids began their dance I have been searching for this book since I was in Jr. High, but could not remember the name!

As I was reading your description, I got so excited to hear someone describe the plot I have always remembered! A very affecting book! I'm glad others remember this one as fondly as I do. It really made me think! I always remembered that last scene with the traffic light, too. I can't remember the name of this book to save my life! I read this book as a child but it was translated from English to Sinhala language.

It was a collection of childhood memories of a girl. I remember that there was a white gate, gypsies, an oven that mother used to polish with a polish tin of the same name, how they spring cleaned the house etc. The words go "through my window I can see a robin singing in a tree, little someone out to play Looking for this book for my grandkids. Story starts with a mother who tucks her son in every night with a poem or song. It starts with "Love You Forever". I remember reading the book to my twin sons in the 's until they were not interested anymore.
