I will always tenderly remember reading and rereading these inspirational stories from women naturally birthing their babies. And just one more! I was so inspired by my own natural birth stories, I wrote my own natural birth book. My dream is that every mom will become fully informed about her choices for childbirth before giving birth. This is a great list! I will be sure to pick that up for next time.

Way to go getting your hubby to read pregnancy books along with you! This is a great resource. It was the drug-free childbirth option recommended by my ob. I read and loved Husband Coached Childbirth… but not until after my little one was born. My husband thought it was some of the same stuff, which it is about the same subject so I guess in a way, but to me it just built upon what I had already watched. Pregnant in America really did have some appalling issues raised. I found it was very emotional for me to watch it while I was pregnant! After reading so many stories of normal births that ended with a healthy baby I was confident that I could do it on my own.

I brought it with me when I went to the birth center in case I needed reassurance. This is an awesome list of books! I read every book out there that I could find when I was pregnant. Love how you make it easier to choose the right ones for each stage. This book is probably a great reference to have on hand as one goes through the months of pregnancy, and a good starter, but it's a little too middle-ground for my tastes. Glad I did, as I found it really helpful - mostly the descriptions of what I might be feeling each month were dead on and very reassuring.

It is nicely divided up to address the emotional components of pregnancy in each month, as well as the physical changes that occur both for mom and baby, and related concerns. Also a nice section on the actual process of labor and delivery and there are illustrations throughout to show the development of the baby and other things such as laboring positions. The Mama Natural Week-By-Week Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth

I think this is a solid book for pregnant moms to read, whether their first time or with subsequent pregnancies. Feb 06, Erynchen rated it really liked it. Even took some pregnancy class provided by hospital, this book provide more information and knowledge to try to reduce you fear.

They list a typical pregnancy complication and 'this is normal, but it could also be a sign of all of these really scary complications. Call your Doctor right away! It is informative, reassuring and empowering. This book talks about the struggles of pregnancy, why things are the way they are and how to alleviate symptoms and find relief. Jul 22, jenn rated it it was amazing Shelves: I refuse to touch "What to expect I like to suggest that people try and just enjoy being pregnant and treat themselves to a medical factoid occassionally if necessary I wouldn't recommend the edition that's 20 years old- although there were a few things that were good for laughs. Starting with that huge red sweater on the cover! I would read ahead and it was all pretty standard information. The reason it got such a high ranking from me is because when I read the month I'm actually in, the "how you are feeling" sections were so spot on.

It's not great as a library book I renewed it like, 9 times but could be a very nice guide. It has places for pictures, comments, feelings, tracking your information from your doctor visits for each month, and it breaks down the info for each week. I wish I had this book to reference during my first pregnancy, but alas I included it during my second pregnancy and was very impressed with its content. Highly recommend this book in every parent or expecting parent's parenting library.

I like the tone a lot and the month-by-month format is easy to read little by little.
