His past is irrelevant when it comes to my review of his work. I am glad I gave this book a chance. While it was quite obvious the author is fairly new to writing and the storyline didn't flow well in the beginning, I was soon drawn in to the characters and the fast paced story.
At times I felt there were too many large gaps in the storyline but when Mr. Macbeth was writing about Mala'ik's life experiences over the centuries he did a good job at keeping the story entertaining, fast paced and thrilling. I enjoyed the dual timeline and never felt confused when Mala'ik was telling a story of the past or living in the present. An entertaining read I would recommend to an open-minded friend.
