People who don't really care about the experience tend to sit in the back. Families, annoying kids, loud chewers and talkers. I like to sit in the back row of the front section of a theater this of course is in the more modern style stadium seating theater and this way no one is directly behind me and typically not many people will be seated near me in that front section.
This means I'm not distracted by others around me and can immerse myself into the film. I've done it since I was a kid and it's the best seat in the house by far! I do the exact same thing! My wife hates me for it. But watching a movie from the back makes it look like I'm watching it at home.
But sitting closer gives me the sense of grandeur I can't get anywhere else. I did a couple of times when I was a kid. I thought I was getting the best seat in the house.

Because the sound design isn't meant for you to be there, you're looking straight up, you have to turn to see the sides. Won a ticket to see Mockingjay Part 2 and my seat happened to be in the second row. It was the most horrible cinematic experience of my life. The shapes of the things on screen were a mess. I almost cried because I had been waiting forever to see it.
Fortunately, someone in the fourth row left the hall 15 minutes it and I took his seat. Still a bad seat but not the worst. I always sit about about 5 rows back from the front I like to be away from anyone else. Saw Jumanji 2 the other day in a full theater and had to sit right in the front. Holy Fuck that was NOT comfortable.
At least they were kinda newish big chairs so I could rest my head back, but I will never do that again. Oh no, I don't think the back is the better seats Everyone always complains about this, but I almost never hear people talking during a movie theater and no one has ever kicked the back of my seat during it.
I've never experienced it either but I live in a relatively small place. I can easily imagine it happening in bigger cities. It was a sold out show, so we were stuck sitting in the very front to the far left end. I had to sit at the very last seat, too.
Before the previews came to end, the three of us ran up the aisle for a bathroom trip. Once we finished, we hurried back to the theater and ran down the aisle just as the movie was about to start. Since I was sitting at the far end, I made a bigger turn at the front to get around my cousin and friend. In doing so, and with poor luck, I slipped and lost my footing.
I landed on the floor in front of the screen with a big, very audible splat, in full view of every single attendee in the theater room. The whole place erupted into laughter and applause, like something out of fucking Hot Rod. I got back up and sank into my seat for the rest of the movie, trying to hide my shame. Since then, I have tried my hardest to avoid getting stuck in front row. My parents let us kids sit in the front row one time.
They told us we were going to hate it. I would really like a website that told you the best seats in the theater. Every theater is different and it sucks with reserved seating when a seat looks like it is in the center during online ordering, but because of the entrance walkway, it is actually far to the side. I saw a recent article that Amc is doing surveys to find those best seats and might start upcharging for those.
I remember when Force Awakens came out we were waiting in line with only one couple ahead of us. These two could have had any seat in the theater. Where do they go? IMHO, front row-center is better than third row-aisle. If I'm showing up late to a sold-out show, I'll bite the bullet. I remember liking the pirates, but resenting the larger changes to the story, and my neck hurt from craning to see.
What an awful film-going experience; I've only ever sat there if I showed up extremely late to a movie which is a rarity for me.
Question: does anybody ever sit in the very front row at the cinema? : movies
It happened the first time I saw The Dark Knight and I was literally staring up the entire time and could hardly take in the whole film. Those seats honestly shouldn't even exist, it's not how a film was meant to be seen. You just can't digest everything from such a close angle.

In the cinema I go to there's a section of seats on the floor and then stairs going all the way to the back. So I sit at the front row of the section where the stairs start. Well, some people choose the first row to get a more in-depth feel of the movie, probably when not in 3D.

When I was young and in the Navy a bunch of us went to see Alien in and sat in the front row. We were rowdy as only young service man can. It looked like Ash's death scene when they were done being "rowdy" if you know what I mean. Get the best new trailers in under a minute, including Avengers: Endgame and " The Umbrella Academy. It was all just electric light and sound. Once, with a couple of friends. One of them decided it wasn't worth the neck-strain and simply left after a couple of minutes and another decided it was more comfortable to lie on his back on the floor in front of the seat: Ikouze Follow Forum Posts: Yeh and I hated it. I don't understand why people choose to sit at the front in a near empty cinema!

Yes once, and it wasn't my eyes that hurt, it was my neck! Ikouze Interesting, I arrived 10 minutes before the Deathly Hallows part 2 and there was no one in the seats. I managed to pick the exact middle seat in the middle row. Dear god no, I would hate that. Yeah i had the misforturne to once, The Lord of The Rings the fellowship of the ring and i had gone to the premier in Perth and it was so awesome i went again the next day but i had to go pee before the movie and when i got into there the only seats left were at the front, And for a 3 and a halfhour long movie sitting at the front was so bad for my neck but it was very much worth it.
I sat in the back most of the time, but sometimes I sat in the front. Once and I ended up not watching the movie very much. My neck hurt so much. Darthkaiser Follow Forum Posts: Yes, and recently on "Thor", it was the only seat left. I liked it though couldn't appreciate the movie well thanks to my seat location.
Well I needed an excuse to re-watch it. I did, on the second row actually
