At times, Adrien can act nervous or surprised in awkward situations as seen in " Gorizilla ", when he came across Wayhem.
This is also shown in " Frightningale ," when he and Marinette posed as their alter-egos in Clara Nightingale 's music video. Adrien also displayed insecurity in "Frozer", where he was shy about going to the ice rink alone with Kagami. In "Sandboy", when Plagg sneaked out without telling him. As Cat Noir, Adrien has the freedom to act however he wants outside of his normal life, letting his wilder side come out, and becoming cocky and outgoing.
In his attempts to get Ladybug's attention, along with other people, he brags and boasts about himself in a comedic way. Adrien's change to his superhero status doesn't diminish his kindness and concern for others though, among many of his other personality traits, such as his reasonable character and deep loyalty. On certain occasions, as Cat Noir he can be hasty sometimes, such as when rushing to face Stormy Weather without a plan. Due to this rashness, in several episodes Cat Noir sometimes needs to be restrained or stopped by Ladybug.
While more prone to goofing off, Cat Noir gets serious when needed, especially when fighting an akumatized villain. It is rare for him to reveal his vulnerable, sensitive side, but it does come through at times, as when he quietly comments that not all parents are loving in " The Bubbler ," and tries in vain to tell Ladybug about his love for her before their transformations wore off in " Dark Cupid ". Determined to help others and save the day, Cat Noir really cherishes being uninhibited by his civilian life as a superhero.
He also understands that it takes more than just superpowers to be a hero or useful, as seen in "Reflekta"; despite the fact that his powers were gone, with his quick thinking he was able to help Ladybug out of a tight spot. Cat Noir is also welcoming and friendly when it comes to accepting new additions to the team, having open arms for Lila in " Volpina " and Rena Rouge in " Sapotis ".
In "Reverser", Cat Noir is also open to accepting help from others like Alix and Nathaniel, as at the time he was reversed to being a complete coward. According to Ladybug in "Copycat", Cat Noir may annoy her to pieces but he never lied to her, meaning that he is honest. Also as Cat Noir, Adrien has the people's loyalty, respect, trust, and help when he needs it, as shown in " Reflekta " and " Gorizilla ".
In addition to being a fashion model and home-schooled, Adrien takes basketball, fencing, piano, and Chinese lessons. He is also quite good at video games, being able to beat Max in Ultimate Mecha Strike III and achieve one of the top scores in the entire school. Adrien, as Cat Noir, shows that he understands Morse code in " Robostus ". In "Sapotis," it is revealed that he knows Kung-Fu. Adrien is able to fight on equal grounds with his akumatized fencing teacher and fend off his knights effortlessly, showing great skill for offensive and defensive movements.
Other than fencing, he also does karate, as revealed in " Simon Says ", which enables him to fight in hand-to-hand combat as well. Cat Noir has enhanced skills such as speed, agility, strength and near-invulnerability.
50 Must-Read Mystery Books for Kids
In " Syren ", he manages to outrun a pair of panthers meaning he is capable of running between mph. Like a cat, he also has enhanced senses such as hearing, smell, night vision, and has super stealth. Cat Noir uses his staff efficiently, wielding it as a sword, throwing it with great precision and having it be deflected back to him, being able to spin it at high speeds to form a shield, and taking advantage of its duplication and length-changing features.
To travel long distances, he uses his staff and its variety in length to vault over obstacles. He also has good hand-to-hand combat skills when needed. In and out of "Aqua Mode", he can also use his staff as a breathing apparatus for those who can't breathe underwater like himself in "Reverser" and "Queen Wasp" and Ondine in "Mayura Heroes' Day - Part 2 ".
Even out of "Aqua Mode" Cat Noir is a good swimmer. His special power, Cataclysm , allows him to negatively affect anything that he touches with his ring hand. While it is usually used to destroy objects, it can be used for a variety of different effects, like causing a bus' controls to go haywire or creating a platform in a structure. Follow along as he confronts each of his animal friends to see which one of them nabbed those cookies! Lucky for him, Private I is on the case. Will Private I put two and two together and solve the problem…or is 6 next in line to be subtracted?
Sam Cat and Dudley Pig are these cute and quirky animal sleuths who do cute and quirky detective things.

In this collection of three stories, their capers include catching shoplifters, pearl thieves and even more shockingly: Sam and Dudley are often hilariously clueless and love to dress themselves in some pretty ridiculous disguises. The illustrations are half the fun. This bilingual story is a funny, lighthearted lesson on immigration and how words sometimes mean more than one thing. This delightful series feels a little like a bookish Casper the Friendly Ghost. Then one day he meets Claire, a young girl who can actually see him!
Remember when I told you that a lot of kids mystery books are a re-imagining of the Sherlock Holmes stories? In The Case of the Stolen Sixpence , the first of eight in the series, she finally gets her big break. Maisie is our reimagined Holmes and her sidekick Eddie is her Watson; Eddie just so happens to be a dog, but hey! He proves to be every bit as helpful. Nancy puts on her detective cap to help a classmate find a stolen item of priceless value.
Little ones may recognize our stylish little sleuth from the Fancy Nancy picture books. Back in action in chapter book form, Nancy solves mysteries in a pink trench coat and a bedazzled magnifying glass. Julian and his buddies Huey and Gloria consider themselves some pretty sweet secret agents. They have after all rescued a neighborhood dog, saved a small child from drowning… but these kids have their sights set on solving some serious crime.
Malcolm is jazzed to be the new fifth grade class pet at school: When Aggy the iguana goes missing, the rest of the class pets accuse Malcolm of the crime. This is a delightful mystery with some valuable lessons on acceptance and inclusion. The books are about globetrotting mouse Geronimo Stilton, a best-selling author, investigative reporter and editor for the Rodent Gazette in New Mouse City, Mouse Island. Stilton embarks on all sorts of wild adventures with his sister Thea, cousin Trap, and nephew Benjamin, keeping a diary of his travels as inspiration for his books.
Start with The Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye where Geronimo and Thea find a mysterious map that leads the pair on a hunt for treasure. Another Sherlock book, but with a few twists! Low is actually a husband and wife duo! So I definitely grabbed this book off a library shelf because young Lulu looks like a teeny tiny Edna Mode. You see it too, right?! She enacts all sorts of elaborate schemes to get rid of babysitter Sonia Solinsky, but Ms. Solinsky has a secret that may just make Lulu see the error in her ways.

The Boxcar Children books were first published back in and are pretty much considered classic mystery books for kids. The series follows the four orphaned Aiden children who decide to live in an abandoned boxcar in the forest. In the first book, The Boxcar Children , the kids learn that they have a grandfather but initially run from him, believing him to be a cruel and scary old man. This turns out happily not to be the case, and the books that follow in the series each revolve around a mystery that the children solve together.
There are at least eight books in the series, my favorite of which is Meg Mackintosh and the Mystery in the Locked Library. A Rabbit Tale of Mystery is a middle grade mystery-comedy about a fanged rabbit who might be a vampire. When the Monroe family finds a peculiar little bunny at a screening of Dracula , they decide to bring him home with them. They call him Bunnicula and introduce him to pets Harold the dog and Chester the cat.
Strange things start to happen around Bunnicula, convincing Chester that this fluffy bunny guy is a vampire. He sets out to prove his theory—is Bunnicula really a bloodsucking bunny, or is it all a big misunderstanding? They soon make a startling discovery: The boys set off to solve this strange and scary mystery and find themselves on an adventure beyond their wildest imaginations.
