Mr Hay does not refer to himself as an artist or a craftsperson, he thinks of his work purely as usable objects made from metal, wood, stone, bone, skins and any natural material.

The satisfying feeling Mr Hay has after making something started from a young age when he was living in Western Australia and he still clearly remembers the first item he made. Ever since he crafted that boomerang as a young man Mr Hay has attempted what he calls regular jobs, but nothing could quite satisfy him in the same way. As well as the more traditional materials and animal skins Mr Hay uses in his work, on his bench he has a dark grey rat skin ready to be made into a wallet.
I catch these rats because I live up in the bush and they eat my house sometimes," he said.

Mr Hay only traps the rats on his own property and he is always hopeful of a clean kill so there is little damage to the animal and he can make the most from its fur. According to Mr Hay, different animal skins are used for different purposes and it's not a case of one animal for all jobs. The talented craftsperson does not see his profession as anything new or different, but he is simply carrying on a tradition which is slowly become fashionable again. It is not what I expected,it cover the subject superficially. I would like to have more technical and tools information.

I agree with the first reviewer. Any reprint title, with this old brown cover is not worth your money. The books don't make sense out of context of factory work over years ago, and some even pick up chapters from different titles and put them together into another book.
