Without Tinsley nor the late LeRoi Moore, Dave Matthews Band doesn't seem as loopy or rangy as it did in its prime, yet this leaner sound suits a middle-aged Matthews who is comfortable in his skin yet restless in his mind.
Mostly, though, he explores the mature, singer-songwriter side he's developed during recent work like 's Away From the World, getting quiet, contemplative, and unusually sweet on songs both lush "Here On Out" and comparatively spare "Black and Blue Bird". The brilliance of this album is astounding! The album tells a story from birth to adulthood.
The new album speaks to the base of Dave Matthews Band and welcomes a new generation of potential fans. In a cynical world this album brings hope and love. DMB is one of my favorites so this grade is likely a bias grade. However when I compare this to other albums that are coming out I personally DMB is one of my favorites so this grade is likely a bias grade.

However when I compare this to other albums that are coming out I personally don't think it is too far off. Maybe you could drop it to 8 or 9. It is a very enjoyable listen almost from start to finish.
Two songs were a little slow to grow on me but otherwise I love it. One nice twist is this album does contain at least a snippet of music from both Moore and Tinsley despite Moore's passing and Tinsley's departure.
