We go on a journey with these charcters from the good to the down right ugly, all the way to finish line and pray like heck they get their happily ever after. We believe so much in these characters and their fight, that we sometimes forget our own reality and stay in their world. That's what a good book does. Trained to handle even the most dangerous situations, his work life is nothing compared to his personal one. Hanging out with his buddies amd screwing a random chick from time to time is his way of decompressing his stress. What he's not a fan of is his thin ass apartment walls and when you're banging the way he does?

You do NOT want to be his neighbor. Liberty has decided to swear off men. For the next six months her only companion will be her trusty vibrator. This does not go over well and unbeknowest to them, they end up meeting in each other in a very funny way that had me laughing out loud and shaking my head. Those two together had me turning the page so fast, just so I could read what was going to happen next.

Suffering a tragic loss has left Hetch a shell of a person on the inside. On the outside, he has everything under control and he's trying really hard to get back to the person he once was. What he wasn't expecting was to fall for Liberty and having her change him in a way that felt natural and cathartic. But how long will Hetch be able to live in that bubble? They say time heals all wounds but in his case, he's gonna need more than that. It was such a natural slow burn and we got to see how the relationship was built. Hetch and Liberty took their time with each other while building their own proffessional careers and making time for each other.

This was a story about what it's like to lose someone and trying to find your own place in the world. How do you move on from that?

I was exhilarated with seeing the different and parallel dynamics between Hetch and Liberty. They are two people from different worlds and collide beautifully and devastatingly together in a wonderfully crafted way. Not to mention, has a very active nightlife that Liberty routinely overhears on the daily due to them being next door neighbors, although neither of them know each other Liberty, on the other hand, works with young teen boys who are on the edge of becoming a danger to themselves and those around them.

She is snarky, she is bright, and she is very loyal.

Most of all, she is not a fan of her neighbor's porno exploits. Now, imagine the horror after one unassuming one night together with a man of calls himself "Hetch," she comes to realize that he is the one and only culprit who both annoys and stars in all of her exotic fantasies Oh, the plot thickens!! For those of you pondering whether to read this, I would highly recommend this to you.

Hetch is about love, loss, healing, self forgiveness and redemption, and learning how to cope and move forward. It was certainly a steamy read, but most of all, it was raw and it was honest. Can't wait for bk2!! Jun 11, Michelle rated it really liked it Shelves: I liked this one pretty well.

Something was missing for me but I'm not sure what. I was entertained by this book but it was just okay. Jun 26, Lindsey King rated it it was amazing. That's about all I can muster up for words at the moment. This was one of the best books I've read in a while. Amazing from the beginning to the very end. Every emotion I felt was so worth it. Not let down in the least with this book at all.

Every hope and expectation I had going in was met and surpassed. River has definitely hit the platinum with this one folks! Hetch is absolutely one of the best men I have eve Value: Hetch is absolutely one of the best men I have ever read. Not only is he insanely sexy and hot SWAT captain but he's kind and extremely caring. Only you wouldn't think that with the banging on the walls from his late night antics. He captured my heart very early on. I not only loved his dirty ways but I loved his real side. The side he didn't let anyone see. I love how River writes passionate strong heroines.

Liberty is definitely both of those things and then some. She's caring and quite selfless. Always putting everyone first and not expecting anything in return. Her job with troubled youth really touched me. I loved that so much about her! Hetch is definitely in for a ride with Lib. She gives as good as she gets and expects nothing less. Stubborn and fierce to the max! I freaking loved this book so much! There was so much humor and a few parts where I thought I was going to piss myself from laughing so hard.

River completely outdone herself with this book. Do not miss out! If you're looking for an alpha male with a kick as heroine look no further than right here. I'd give this book 10 stars if I could! So for most of this book I was like Which as happens with boring books it takes twice as long to read because I kept putting it down. It was a love story between two people one who worked as a child councillor at a boys home and the other is part of a S W A T team.

It was all a bit to soft for So for most of this book I was like It was all a bit to soft for me. The hero did nothing for me and the very brief sex scenes did not hit the mark. I am actually proud of myself for hanging on till the end. View all 10 comments. Hetch is the first book in River Savage's new Men of S. Let me tell you, this will be one hell of a series! May 11, BleuBelle rated it did not like it Shelves: I'm disappointed, my hopes turned to dust and I want to punch Hetch in the face.

I'm aware that I'm in the minority with my rating and thus my feelings for this book. Other people got different opinions and that's great. Otherwise our world would be so boring. I'll keep it short: OMG, what a douche. He's not Hero material, at all! I was so ready to fall in love with this story, because let me tell you, the blurb hooked me!

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. But reality came knocking at my door. I didn't want to open, but it pushed her way right trough. Hetch is a total man-whore. As I get older and read more books I find myself hating male characters who just jump from woman to woman just to satisfy their needs.

And then discharging said woman like a used tissue. We get to hear all about his conquests. And our heroin does too. Was it supposed to be funny, that she could hear them trough the wall? Well for me it was just annoying. Then we have Liberty. I can't get a read of this woman. I don't like her but I don't hate her either. She does a great job at the Boys Heaven but that's about it. Her character left me cold. And her self proclaimed sabbatical.. No comment from me here. Her best friend, aka sister-in-law, was just weird. She was in Libertys face all the time! And I hate such "friends".

But the main problem for me was the couple. Why are they attracted to each other? Because of their looks? Come on, you need more! I just can't see them together. They have nothing in common. Hetch is attracted to her sassiness and her bitching. They just hook up, and then Liberty gets these feelings from him. But the problem is Hetch doesn't want to fall in love, and he just concentrates on the physical aspects on their relationship. Last thing, and then I'm finished.

Hetch gets all angry about Libertys accusation in front of his sister. How can he be so cruel? And then the scene that follows this shouting match? Right there I quit. View all 5 comments. May 10, Loz rated it really liked it. What's not to LOVE about this book River Savage is one of my favorite authors I'm so excited for the promise of what the rest of this series holds. One of my favorite parts was when Hetch and Liberty first meet at the bar. I loved how Liberty didn't crumble under the sexy arrogance that was Hetch. I also loved the relationship that developed between Mitch and Hetch.

Another of my favorite parts is when Liberty meets Hetch's mom And how could I forget the opening scene with the extremely thin bedroom walls that separated Hetch's and Liberty's apartments. And what a sweet ending HETCH was a great start to the series.

See a Problem?

It was full of laughter, love, heartbreak, sorrow, healing, forgiveness, and enough hot steamy sex to satisfy!! I enjoyed it so very much. Thank you so much as it was truly my pleasure to read!! This story had just what I needed. I really enjoyed the characters who were in their thirties. They and their occupation felt authentic and so did the dialogue. This was my first book by River Savage and I enjoyed it tremendously. I was entertained from start to finish. I needed an adult romance story and I think that's why I gravitated towards the characters. In one way or another I felt I could relate or understand them.

Liberty was just fabulous. I loved how humble she was and that she thorou This story had just what I needed. I absolutely loved the book! In Peter, Michaela, and Helene all meet. Helen is the wife of a concentration camp soldier and for years has heard the cries for help from the camp. She hates it there but was afraid to leave her husband. When he finally runs as the Americans close in she goes to the camp with food to help whoever she can.

Michaela is one of those people. When they are released from the camp by the Americans Helene takes in Michaela and Leila into her father's house, This was a complete nightmare of a book. When they are released from the camp by the Americans Helene takes in Michaela and Leila into her father's house, feeding them and nursing them back to health.

While doing so Helene meets the American soldier Peter, who helps her on her journey out of Austria. The two eventually fall in love and marry. My primary complaints about the novel are the stock characters and the convoluted plot. Everyone is either good or bad and that depends strictly upon the authors telling us so.

There might be some acts of charity done but they tend to be minor and lauded to the high heavens. Helene is completely without agency. She depends entirely on the men in her life, first her husband, then father, then Peter and the other American soldiers. Her sole act of independence is to list the names and information about the men who were guards in the concentration camp where her husband worked. She did this to help herself and her kids get to America so forgive me if I don't see that as an act of heroism.

The twist and turns in the plot could have been interesting but were made mediocre by the writing. The treasure should have been fascinating but instead was a minuscule part of the plot and solved too easily by Helene. Clearly the book didn't work for me. Micheala is caring for her traumatized friend and trying to adjust to being free once again. Can Peter, Helene, and Micheala find the love and forgiveness they all so desperately need? This is definitely worth reading! I have heard it said that those who do not know the past are condemned to repeat it. Never let us forget the price others have paid for our freedom. Never let us forget the Third Reich and the horror they caused.

Let us pray these things never will be repeated. And let us all do our part to ensure that they never will. Jan 24, Martha rated it it was amazing. This book is just as good the third time I read it as the first time! We discussed this in book club and what a story!

Apr 01, J rated it liked it Shelves: Okay, I took this book up because I supposed this novel dealt with the subject of World War II, but the book was essentially a romance saga. So, the "World War II" part in the title is deceiving, take it from me. It's nothing more than a side-track. This would have been a good read had I been into mushy-mushy romance , but as it happens, I'm not. Romance lovers can, however, delve right into it. This story revolves around three people- - Helene, wife of a former SS guard; - Peter, an American Serge Okay, I took this book up because I supposed this novel dealt with the subject of World War II, but the book was essentially a romance saga.

This story revolves around three people- - Helene, wife of a former SS guard; - Peter, an American Sergeant; - Michaela, a prisoner of the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp during the war. It's about how they each deal with the aftermath of war. This story indeed had so much scope to become an epic war tale.

But regrettably, I found it a bit lacking in some aspects. The writing and the dialogues seemed a bit, just a little bit, amateurish to me. I couldn't help wincing at some parts. Also, one of the central characters, Helene, was too nonsensical at times for a book of such gravity. And of course, since I do not particularly enjoy the romance genre, it didn't work for me. But it could work for you. I cannot say that it was a completely worthless read for me. The characters had good and redeeming qualities and that sure made this book worth a one-time read.

And the war details, however few, were all right. Most importantly, it wasn't boring. Sep 17, Michelle rated it it was amazing Shelves: I especially like the emphasis on the liberation of people from the concentration camps. There are not very many stories out there like this one. I couldn't put the book down.

War is a terrible thing and many people are stuck on a side they don't necessarily want to be on. Tricia Goyer did an excellent job writing this novel. I laughed, I cried. Now I need to collect the whole series!!!! Tricia Goyer does an excellent job intertwining the lives of the three main characters. There were many times I thought I had figured out how it all would end, only to be thrown a whole new twist in the next chapter. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

I really enjoyed this book. Tricia did wonderful job writing this book and fill in history of Germany. Nov 04, Raquel Recio added it.
