But this book by Lydia Brew was so compelling, I felt the need to share my thoughts immediately, while they were fresh and burning in my soul. When first invited to participate in this book tour, we were told the book was a different genre than had been offered before. When I found out it was about rape and the exploration of myths, history, and other related abuses in Wow.
When I found out it was about rape and the exploration of myths, history, and other related abuses in our world, I though oh boy, this will be a dull read. It was anything but!! You can read the synopsis above regarding the storyline and the certain characters involved. Ms Brew writes in a very simple style and her characters are very believable and well crafted individuals and like all of us, carry a phenomenal amount of baggage As the story developed, I was amazed by the number of people that were affected by the physical rape of one woman and the unlocking of secrets that resulted from that same rape.
This book was definitely enlightening, powerful, painful and emotional. My emotions were totally invested, probably because the subject of rape is so frightening. There is so much to think about in the aftermath of a rape and so much we as women need to be educated about. I definitely want my kids and grand kids to read this and I want the families to talk about it.

Rape is often a taboo, misunderstood topic even in this modern age. In addition to this issue, the author tackles the issues of disability, racism, and more. It is evident the author wrote this book to inform her readers, and indeed her message comes across. I will honestly say that the actual writing of this book could have been better, at least in my opinion.
Much of the This book deals with a subject that is delicate topic, and it is clear that this is an issue near to the heart of the author.
Much of the story was intriguing, and I liked Beatrice and Elaine for the most part. Their story was heart-wrenching. And through their story, others opened up to other various stories of rape under many different circumstances. At times, I struggled to keep all the stories straight. But this again went back to the author's purpose--educate about rape. The fourth section of this book contains quite a treatise on rape. It explores the law and the different types. My interest sometimes waned, but the author never lost her passion for the topic even when I lost the passion for her story. There were no sex scenes, and the profanity was incredibly mild.
I also appreciated all the references to God. If you are interested in learning about rape through the eyes of both the victim and the aggressor, you will want to check out this book! I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are percent mine. Dec 16, T.

Rape is a violent act mainly against women that leaves a lasting effect on the victims. This was expressed throughout this book and needs to be read by all women young and old. This was an emotional book to read that provides a powerful message.
I could relate to Beatrice and Elaine story and my heart went out to them. The last portion of the book touched on the laws behind the act which did not keep my interest.
