Under Trish's pen, the earnest, sometimes desperate, and often courageous exploration of her own feelings brings us to sometimes surprising discoveries of where God is leading. Not the least of the many joys of this book are the poems that both mother and daughter have written over the years.

I could not be prouder of my wife for writing this.

Trish Dunaway has done an incredible job opening up her grieving process to give her readers the opportunity to observe her transparent thoughts and emotions as she redirects her place of pain and loss to a place of peace and hope. This book is filled with culture, history and poetry with a constant cord of strength found only in God's unfailing love.

The colorful way Trish recalls memories of her Low Country heritage makes me want to visit all of the places she holds so dear. Most importantly, this book inspires me to build a culture of honor and to deposit this eternal treasure in the lives of my family and loved ones along life's way. I highly recommend this book not only to someone who faces the loss of a loved one, but also to individuals or groups who desire reflection on faith, family and honor. What makes this book so fabulous is the fact that Mrs. Dunaway combines the journal of her initial year of grief with the descriptions of life, nature, family and love in the South.

This is a book with wonderful, sweet description and atmosphere. Having just lost a precious parent myself, I am so impressed with Patricia's courage, candor, and insight. I love this book. Buy one for yourself and one for a dear or grieving friend. It could be THE handbook on walking through grief with grace.

Having said that, I am a professional critic, and I can tell you that even if you don't know any of the people involved, you will be deeply moved by this book. I think it would be especially appreciated as a gift to anyone who has recently lost someone dear to them -- or to parents and children that need to be reminded of how they never know how much time they will have. I have known the author for thirty years and knew "Momma" the entire time.

Love letters are from the heart and an amazing journey of God's unending love, care and faithfulness. You will be encouraged!

The relationship between a child and their mother is certainly something that is special and its understandably difficult when that bond is broken by the mothers passing. As a journal, I found Dunaway's book touching, giving the reader insight into who the mother was and look into the grief process. See all 6 reviews.
