Industry Reviews Toni Blake, award-winning author: Day is an up-and-coming talent in the world of erotic fiction. Her hot and steamy sex scenes will leave readers breathless and aching for more. The hero and heroine are believable and well written, and the hero is rugged and definitely dreamy. With characters from the first book added in, as well as a mixture of new faces, plus dashes of paranormal elements, Day has a winning recipe.
Heat of the Night defies commonplace descriptions. I was moved by it, aroused by it, and gladdened by it. Such powerful characters with an enormously compelling story to tell are the stuff of bestseller lists. And that is exactly where this book belongs. I seriously, utterly loved this book. I could not get enough of it, and when it was over, I was so sad because I wanted it never to end! When these two come together it is passionate, sensual and down right explosive, making it nearly impossible to put the book down.
It was so much more outstanding than the first book in this series. This is one of those books that you just cannot put down. Love the paranormal world! Love the sizzling romance! Love Heat of the Night! In this story, there were characters from the first book as well as new characters, both evil and good.

The adventure and love story combine, woven together by a wonderful plot. This series is full of power struggles, subterfuge, lies and conspiracies, and it will appeal to readers who enjoy action, suspense, scorching-hot sensuality and drama.
Through These Wicked Nights by Pixie Lynn Whitfield
Day is a master of penning intelligent characters who work together in a well-orchestrated symphony of riveting action. This is a series that is not to be missed. Not only was the storyline action-packed from the first page to the last, the soaring chemistry between Stacy and Conner is electrifying. Sylvia Day creates a robust, erotic fantasy with intense action, and colorful characters that make this one powerful read. The suspense, action, and mysteries are intense and imaginative. Excellent pacing, writing, and characterization will have readers glued to the story.
This second Dream Guardian book stands well on its own with plenty of background, but reading the first book will add insight. This book takes the series to a new level, earning it the La Grande Mort rating and builds high anticipation for the next tale. As the MC, you are inundated with his history of promiscuity. Veritas is 4 thousand years old.
Ian is , and has had more "partners" than her by far. I'm sorry, it just is. And though I get the reality of a long-lived species trying everything sexually over the centuries, all the references to that part of their past lives was a big turn-off for me, but not an issue for either Veritas or Ian. It's taken as natural and no big deal. Veritas needs Ian for bait to draw out a demon they both want dead. Veritas is also not all she seems to be on the surface. I never really thought she was, so it wasn't a shock that she turned out to be a good person, but I never would have guessed her history.
The relationship starts off rocky, neither trusting the other. Veritas wants vengeance for all Dagon's victims her included. Ian needs Dagon dead since he owns his soul. Once they both see the real person beneath the manufactured image Ian's feelings are more ambiguous. Does he want Veritas? But, who hasn't he wanted? As the story progresses, we see more and more that Veritas means something to Ian, but how much and more importantly Cat, Bones, Spade and Mencheres all make appearances.
Ian and I were both a bit annoyed with them at first Can I just say how clever I think JF is with the direction she took the continuation of the series. I thought the last chapter saved the romance. I was on the verge of giving SoW an okay 3 star rating, but the final scene in the book jumped it near 4. And I loathe view spoiler [amnesia hide spoiler ] plot lines. When view spoiler [Ian woke up in a whorehouse with no memory of Veritas, I feared the worst was going to happen. Instead, he knew it was all wrong for him to be there and wasn't interested in sex with anyone He knew someone important was missing and risked breaking his mind to retrieve those lost memories.
He needed whoever that someone was in his life. Now, I can't wait for the next one. Ian and Veritas work very well together. There was a lot of actions and a lot of action. We get to see Kat and Bones, Spade and Manchares sp? Even my main man Vlad makes an appearance. The plot is very good. I'm very happy to back in this world. Only problem, there is a cliffhanger.
Oct 29, Under the Covers Book Blog rated it really liked it. I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. To say this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year is an understatement.
And lets just say the wait was worth it! First of all, lets talk ab I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. First of all, lets talk about Ian. Ruthless, cocky, confident, unashamed I don't know why I had a small fear that he would change when he fell in love.
Heat of the Night
That is not the case. And that someone couldn't be a better match for him. Veritas was the big revelation for me in this book because we don't really know much about her going into this and getting to know her was so much fun. She may be quickly taking over the spot for my favorite female in this series.
Another great example of why Jeaniene Frost is queen at straddling the lines between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Ian and Veritas are sensual and sexy, but also intense in their purpose. Everything was mixed so well! And lets not forget the humor. Like I said, Ian is exactly what you would expect him to be and that includes the fact that he's really funny. One minute you're swooning, the next you're scared and the next you're laughing.
If there is one thing you should take way from this is that this is one of the best paranormal worlds you'll read about. Frost creates storylines full of pulse-pounding action but also some of the best characters you'll have the pleasure to read about. This new spin off only cements that fact even more for me. Ian and Veritas had me hooked from page one and addicted for more. The next installment can't come soon enough. Subscribe to our blog by email! It's been a long time since I picked a Jeaniene Frost book.
I adored the Night Huntress series and have read most of the other books set in this world I still need to read the two latest Night Prince novels. To be honest I don't know why I never read those two. Other shinier books grabbed my attention but I fully plan on remedying that in the next few weeks. But when I saw that she's writing a Ian book I just couldn't resist. Add in the brilliant quotes shared on Twitter and by the time I got It's been a long time since I picked a Jeaniene Frost book.

See a Problem?
Fifteen minutes into the audio and I was laughing my head off and sharing quotes with my best friends trying to convince them to pick it up as well it might have backfired, though, as the sandpaper dildo one gathered some strange reactions: Ian fascinated me since the very first time he showed on page. He is a degenerate pervert with a big heart.
The opening scene was hilarious! I had tears run down my face and had to explain to my mother why I have trouble breathing. This mostly set the tone for the rest of the book. I hardly remembered Veritas but damn she's amazing. She has a great background and I hope we'll get to explore more about it. Especially about her father and how she came to be. The story itself was great and extremely engaging. I couldn't wait to finish the book.
Especially when I hit the second part of the book. Damn trying to write a spoiler free review for this book is hard! Anyway, the last few chapters were heartbreaking! And now I'm so anxious for what will happen next and how Ian will handle things with Veritas! Damn, I want the next book NOW! I had a fangirling moment when Kat and Bones showed up.
I almost fell out of my chair I was listening at work I was so happy! Boy, was it hilarious! I adore how much Bones, Mencheres and Spade care about Ian and how much he cares about them despite his devil-may-care attitude towards life and people in general. As I said he might be a scoundrel but he has a heart of gold ; I do hope he won't change too much as his penchant for kinky stuff is one of the things I found most fascinating about him. You just knew that Ian and Veritas were going to get together because of what happened in Into the FIre.
I can't wait to see them get together! Their backgrounds are also going to be so juicy. What made Ian into the playboy we know and love, and what are Vertitas' many secrets??? Also, what position will Ian be in when Veritas first meets him?? Sooo many questions, sooo much time before we can get the answers. I need this book today, please! View all 7 comments. I'm sure I'm not the only fan who's been waiting for years for Ian's book but it was probably trickier for the author with this book because how do you make a shameful scoundrel with a sleazy reputation and who's been known as arrogant and carefree into hero's material, but without denaturing the wacky side we love so much?
I think that was the biggest challenge for Jeaniene Frost and in my opinion, she succeed.

We see sid 4. We see sides of Ian we haven't seen before, but don't worry, he's still Ian ;p "Ian tended to take a death threat as a challenge, a joke, or an aphrodisiac. This time, it's Veritas, a Law Guardian of the vampire council. I wished I got a refresh on what they do exactly because my memories about the Law Guardians were lacking, but it didn't stop me from enjoying or understanding anyway.
Veritas and Ian have an enemy in common.

So she propose a temporary alliance. Ian's been marked by the same demon she'd been after for thousand of years and she might be his only chance to save his soul and escape the deal he made with the demon to save someone. Ian and Veritas met just once before but that doesn't mean they trust the other. But flirting and sarcasm come as naturally as He can't help himself but Veritas have no trouble to reply to his outrageous words ;p So I'll just say this and yes, it need to be said in large font: But as Veritas will soon discover, for all of Ian's faults and flaws, Ian is loyal as fuck and he's got good instincts, and she better not underestimated him.
And she can't help react to the appeal because he's just too potent ;p Let me tell an word key word: But if Ian think he's got the upper hand, he's in it for a big surprise. There's so many other things I could say about the story and the book, but I'll try to keep it shorter now. The magic brought something more interesting and it was action packed. I must say that when I finished the book, it left me with a sense of satisfaction, but with the thought that some things just happened too fast. And the almost indestructibility of the vampires in this world is still a little too much for me to believe.
But it's all part of the author's trademark I think and I like the world she created because there's something unconventional about it. It's difficult to explain but for me, there's something different about the way she write romance that I wouldn't normally like but that I find entertaining and delightful.
It would be an offence not to talk about the gang being there and my favorite scene is when they meet Veritas. While it's not necessary to have read the other series before this one, I think there's a better chance you enjoy this book more if you at least read the Night Huntress series Jeaniene Frost first series where you'll meet Ian , but I could be wrong so do what you want ;p The sad part is that now I have to wait again for the next book in the series: This is the story of Veritas and Ian. I am almost a shamed to say I have never read a book by Ms.
This book kept me reading until the end of this book. I found it exciting and enjoyed Veritas and Ian story line. I do hope the next book that continues their story and this exciting read comes out fast Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy. I, like many other readers of the Night Huntress series, was eager for Ian's book, and it definitely lived up to my expectations.
Hero and heroine team up to fight a bad guy, and fall in love in the process. The difference here is that we didn't know much about Ian or Veritas. However the gap between novels kind of sucks.
