I am proud of my polish heritage and this book allowed me to thouroughly appreciate the toils my Grandparent's went through to give their families freedom. My Grandpa and his brothers watched from the hayloft, as the Russians killed their parents for refusing to cooperate. I am sure their travel to America was a struggle.

Thank You Millie for making your story public and Kudo's to Sandra for writing such a superb gripping biography. I am recommending this book to my son's so they may appreciate the freedom and opportunities they have in the USA. A compelling story about the horrors of living under Communist totalitarianism at a time when hope was a four letter word. You won't want to put it down.
The author has a gift for conveying the utter devastation of impossible situations that for most of us will remain in the realm of fiction during our lifetimes.
