It is my first book by Mack, but it won't be the last. A gifted writer that deserves more than 5 stars! Mar 07, Paula Genereau rated it it was amazing. Mack Black sure rocked this book. Vanessa is in love with a man she knows that no one approves of , but when electricity sparks between her and Jace, she doesn't care. May 17, Candy rated it it was amazing Shelves: Taboo - adjective 1. This was a young adult story to me with taboo mixed in but in two ways.

A young girl falls for her STEP-brother and vice versa. A mom who only wants her son to herself and the extent she goes to. Vanessa meets Jace he Taboo - adjective 1. They become friends but will that be all? Jace and his mom move in with her new husbands family and he sees Vanessa and is just struck. Jace plays games thanks to his mom but will he play the same game as always with Vanessa or change the rules? Mack spectacular job on bringing this one to life. The two main characters are lovable even with Jace's past because all he wanted was love. You had it flowing as Vanessa told the story and it had me hooked to continue reading.

This story was so full of clowning around, seriousness, angst and love.

Your main characters have depth and a understanding that forms for the reader. A must read and one of my top of reads. May 14, Book Banshee rated it really liked it. I always make exceptions for debuting authors because maybe, just maybe, they will write something that will change my mind about that particular trope. I had to double check a few times to make certain that I was indeed reading Mack Black's first published book because it was written so well with nary any of the commonly found clues that remind me this was a debut.

This author writes like she has done this before. One of the reason's, in particular, I don't read taboo books is because the erotic scenes always fall a little flat for me, and I, in all honesty, find them boring. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised. Sep 28, Mandy rated it it was amazing. It had a good start and built on it. I didn't feel that this love is a forbidden love, although some people might, they didn't grow up together and there was no meeting up before Jace moved in. I think Jace was a pretty sane person after being brought up by such an overbearing parent.

This is the first book I have read from this author, and I will be looking out for more because they have a great style Loved this book. This is the first book I have read from this author, and I will be looking out for more because they have a great style which was easy to read. Well Done Mack Black Sep 10, Amanda Campbell rated it really liked it. This is my first book by Mack Black. And it was incredible. I went into this book on a blind date, so I didn't know anything about it but I loved it.

Forbidden Love (TV Movie ) - IMDb

I normally avoid anything "taboo" since it's not really my style but this book was awesome. It was so well written and I loved the twists that came multiple times throughout the story. Vanessa and Jace were fantastic characters. He's so complex and not your typically "bad boy" but he's definitely a bad boy which is what made him so Wow. He's so complex and not your typically "bad boy" but he's definitely a bad boy which is what made him so beautiful.

Definitely a book you should read. Sep 12, Chrissy rated it really liked it. I almost always enjoy a story about the supposedly inappropriate love between step siblings. This one was especially enjoyable to me because Jace wasn't egotistical or a womanizer. He truly cared for Vanessa and although she may have unintentionally hurt him, he was mature and understanding of her feelings and didn't retaliate to save his ego. He was able to stop and look at the situation from her point of view and understand why she reacted the way she did. They both truly loved each other and I almost always enjoy a story about the supposedly inappropriate love between step siblings.

They both truly loved each other and were willing to risk everything to be with each other. And they did have to go through some crazy situations, but thank goodness for unconditional love and happy endings!! Sep 04, Samantha Vickery rated it liked it.

Forbidden Love

A sweet little forbidden love story that also touches on how the world perceives the young. Sep 08, Archer rated it liked it Shelves: I felt dirty while reading it, because it was a taboo topic. However it went well, I'm not sad that I read it. And I enjoyed the pace. All in all not bad. Aug 31, Crystal Jimenez rated it really liked it. Sep 18, Mindy rated it liked it. Good paced story Vanessa and Jace became step-siblings when their parents married but sparks flew as soon as they met, but they were "brother and sister" so it was taboo.

Although they liked to cuddle and play around nothing more happened until they turned 18 they sneaking around under their parents noses was a little harder. I found the pace and storyline great, romance with suspense and tension. The only draw back I had was all the weed smoking, just didn't feel it added to the story, I know it Good paced story Vanessa and Jace became step-siblings when their parents married but sparks flew as soon as they met, but they were "brother and sister" so it was taboo.

The only draw back I had was all the weed smoking, just didn't feel it added to the story, I know it's an escape from what darkness was going on in their lives, it's just not my thing. Volunteer review KU copy May 12, Caitlin Audet rated it liked it Shelves: This standalone was a first for me to read from this author but it's nice branching out from what I'm already used to. When I came across the blurb my interest was piqued and I was happy to get the opportunity to read this story.

I have mixed feelings about Forbidden Love. On the one hand the scenes were vivid and hot. The lust factor between Vanessa and Jace was off the charts. I love how alph My rating: I love how alpha Jace could be and then turn right around and be super sweet and concerned for Vanessa's well being. Vanessa was also a good character, especially when she didn't let other people's opinions stop her from going for what she wanted.

There were also times she took control and it's always appealing to me to have a strong female role. I am a huge fan of a great backstory and the buildup of the main characters coming together and to me that was lacking in Forbidden Love. I felt a little lost at times because I'm already supposed to understand what Vanessa and Jace see in each other. I felt at other times that their feelings were overly dramatic, since again there wasn't anything to me to back up those claims. I do appreciate the fact this story was wrapped up nicely and even though it wasn't a book I fell in love with, I don't see this keeping me away from reading more books by Mack Black.

May 21, Tara Bryant rated it it was amazing. His absence covered every part of my body, leaving nothing behind but holes. But when lust turns to love, Vanessa wants nothing more than to be with Jace. But at what cost?

The beautiful fire of new love

Being near each other unleashes so many demons, and so many dark truths. Filled with so many twists and turns, Mack Black will leave your head spinning.

[The Forbidden Love] A Sad Comic Story By Gabriel Picolo

That it can rip down any walls around your heart. The dark, cold silence wrapped around me like a blanket. That time, I let it win, because I was defeated. I love discovering new authors, Ms. Black did exceptionally well for being a debut author. Her blurb to Forbidden Love really won me over and I knew I had to read it.

Books where you know you can't be with the person you want because either they're best friends with either your brother or sister or your mom and his dad are married, etc. These books always get me hooked instantly. The build up always excites me and has me going and going like a little energizer bunny. I love how they find ways to either sneak around or breaks my heart that they can't be together even though they love each other.

But in this story, Jace and Vanessa didn't seem to have any remorse in what they were doing behind their parents back. Knowing that their parents were married to each other obviously didn't put a damper on their feelings for each other! The whole smoking weed on a constant was a little off putting, but I didn't let that dissuade me from the rest of the story.

It was a slow build up, a lot of teasing each other going on before it actually got steamy. Overall, it was a good read. May 02, Kelly Kemmerly rated it it was ok. I was granted an ARC for an honest review First, let me say that I know what a labor of love writing a book can be and I did enjoy Forbidden Love, but also struggled with some elements within the story. While I see the relevance for some drug reference or recreation I found it a distraction and uncomfortable to read.

Probably because I was a substance abuse counselor for youth in the past and saw too many young lives and families torn apart by drugs and alcohol. With this perception set aside I was granted an ARC for an honest review With this perception set aside I will review the book more objectively Vanessa and Jace have an instant chemistry when they meet as new "step-siblings". That electricity ignites further as the two find enjoyment in smoking weed, watching stand-up comedy, and hanging out without supervision like most teenagers. Both have stories in their pasts that neither is willing to share, yet.

Jace loves a game. She hated that she was still so desperate for a glimpse of him, but it had been this way for years. Because what's worse than knowing you want something, besides knowing you can never have it'. To burn with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring on ourselves.

You wondered how you'd make it through. I wondered what was wrong with you. Because how could you give your love to someone else, yet share your dreams with me? Sometimes the only thing you're looking for, is the one thing you can't see. How can you simply be friends with someone when every time you look at them, you're thinking about how much more you really want'. There is a kind of love, the excess of which forbids jealousy.
