Even though this could be read as a stand-alone I do not recommend it. You will be very dizzy and more confused than me. I'm not spoiling what it's about, you have to read it yourself. Until next time Gansett Island. Jun 07, Morgan rated it liked it Shelves: I have enjoyed every book in The McCarthys of Gansett Island companion series, but I have definitely enjoyed some more than others. I have been waiting for Laura and Owen to get their happily ever after for a long time. They were first introduced into to the series a couple of books ago and they have been flirting around each other ever since.
I was really looking forward to this novel, but unfortunately, I was left a little disappointed. I keep having the same "issues" with this series. In my opinion, Ms. Force spends too much time going back to old characters and introducing new characters and not enough time focusing on the main characters. I really enjoyed every second Owen and Laura were the focus of this novel, but unfortunately, they didn't get enough attention for my liking.
There was a new character introduced in this novel that I really, really loved. She has had a heartbreaking past. Her back story brought tears to my eyes. I can't wait to see her get a happily ever after. I am also really excited about the next book in the series. Tiffany, Maddie's sister, has become one of my favorite characters in this. She is a tough character, but she also has a soft, more vulnerable side too.
I can't wait to get to know her character more in the next book in the series. I recommend this series to adults who like to curl up with a good romance novel. I loved this book Owen and Laura are great That's saying a lot coming from me I'm totally in love with Mac and I thought nothing could top Maid for Love. But Season for Love is definitely up there. One of the things that I love about Marie's writing is that she is constantly introducing you to new characters. This is a good thing, because it leads you to think that the series could possibly to go on forever.
There are some surprises in the book, without a doubt. Owen, the laid back surfer dude, has a very interesting past. You definitely find out more about him. However I just wish there was a little bit more. I just think that some of the steps should have actually played out for us the readers to see and happen a little sooner, if not differently than it did. But I hate when people give away all the details.
Season for Love is definitely one of my top ten books. I highly recommend it! This winter things take a change in his life. Laura is a recently married woman cousin to the McCarthy clan. Laura's marriage has gone terribly wrong in short couple of months. I like this relationship for the fact that I have a major crush on Owen. Owen's love for Laura is unquestionable.

I just downloaded the 7th story of this series. Hopefully I don't have to wait to long before the next one is out. Jan 02, Shauna rated it liked it. The story line was well written and the characters were great but it was a bit confusing at times. There were just so many different stories going on. Owen Lawry has made a living as a traveling musician and enjoys his footloose and fancy free lifestyle. But after meet The story line was well written and the characters were great but it was a bit confusing at times.
But after meeting Laura McCarthy and helping her to land the job as manager of his grandparents' hotel on Gansett Island, Owen decides there's something to be said about a roof over his head and a warm, sexy woman in his bed. As Owen and Laura's attraction simmers during months of close proximity, they form a tight bond that will be tested when her estranged husband refuses to grant her a divorce.
They were barely scenes with them and I was just frustrated. At times I wanted to burn the book. I just wish the book was written differently with more of Laura and Owen. Jun 07, Norma rated it really liked it Shelves: This book was terrific! SO much page time spent with former characters.
Not just a sentence to catch you up either, there were pages and pages updating each couple from the previous books. It was like sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner with the family you only get to see on Thanksgiving. And we got a look at characters that I hope will be getting their own stories soon. Force can do no wrong! If I had one teeny, small caveat it would be that all the catching up left us less time for Owen a This book was terrific! If I had one teeny, small caveat it would be that all the catching up left us less time for Owen and Laura.
But this isn't a problem as we've gotten to know them already and they did get plenty of face time. Might be my favorite.
Season for Love : Gansett Island Series, Book 6
Jun 13, Mei rated it really liked it Shelves: I love how Ms Force writes and I love her books, but in this one there's too much things going on. I'm used to have each book in series concentrating mostly to one couple, while the others previous ones are mentioned in the background; here all the couples are main couples! And, in addition, there're other, new couples are in making! It's just too much!
I'll read the next one 'cause I want to see what happens, but I would like the return to the "normal" way! Jun 05, Val rated it liked it Shelves: Before talking about 'Season for Love', I'll talk about the short story Marie included at the end. The short story's about a wedding in Gansett Island and I absolutely loved it. I'm so happy to know that certain characters from book 3 had come this far.
I got so emotional that I almost cried happy tears of course while reading it. Now, let's talk about 'Season for Love'. That alone made extremely happy. I loved loved that we got to keep up with the other couples. One complaint of mine about the previous book was that there wasn't enough of them and this time Marie didn't disappoint because there was information about every one.
And if you're like me, who's loved the series from book 1, you won't be disappointed and will love it as much as I did. Different from other people, I didn't think their participation took the spotlight from the main couple: Thanks to the previous books we know that: Laura is Mac, Janey, Grant, Evan and Adam's cousin who found out her husband hadn't stopped dating little time after they got married and decides to stay in Gansett after Janey's wedding.
There, she finds out she's pregnant and one amazing guy aka Owen the handsome musician who's best friends with Evan decides to help her. Their story started as friendship and slowly grew into love which finally exploded in a wonderful way in this book. Finally, both decided to fight for what they want. Me, being a witness to their love story from day 1, couldn't stop smiling. It was a beautiful progress. Unfortunately for me, I felt it ended abruptly.
I turned the page and there was en epilogue and then there was no more. I'm pretty sure we'll see more of them in upcoming books but still, it ended all so fast. Don't get me wrong, I loved that one of their main problems was fixed, but a part of me didn't believe it entirely because I've already believed that Justin was a douchebag. Anyway, I could've easily ignored that part and give it a better rating, but then Joe's mother appeared and she got a story with a friend of Joe view spoiler [ Seamus hide spoiler ] and it was totally unexpected.
But not the kind of good unexpected and that Love comes when you least expect it with someone unexpected and shouldn't be ignored, but in this case I couldn't get used to it. Still, in spite of that storyline, 'Season for Love' is a great addition to the series and can't be skipped. I want to know more about him. I can't wait to have those two books in my kindle, so Marie, don't take long pretty pretty please. This book was tricky. It was kind of like attending a dinner party hosted by a recent acquaintance, one in which you really like the other people attending and which you like the nice couple hosting, but there is just so many times you feel out of the loop or don't get the joke or can't always keep straight who is who or how they are all related.
And if I'm going to go with this analogy, like with a dinner party, the hosts are so busy spreading themselves among the other guest or dealing with la This book was tricky. And if I'm going to go with this analogy, like with a dinner party, the hosts are so busy spreading themselves among the other guest or dealing with last minute preparations that you don't really get a chance to do much to improve on the connection or really get to know them better.
Like that, it felt like I never really got a chance to get to know the two main characters Laura and Owen, and that their story wasn't even that much of a main focus as I was constantly being distracted by the stories of the other characters. I would imagine that they only took up one-third of the book with plot relevant to themselves. The issue I have with this book is that it really isn't a stand alone novel. Had I read the 5 other books in the series, I would likely have been unable to put the book down and would be singing it's praises from the rafters.
It was a good plot what little that the book got into , the characters are intelligent and likable, the dialog is good, and the love scenes are very spicy. In fact, another problem was that there were so many spicy love scenes and they involved characters that I barely had a chance to know, it felt a bit voyeuristic and well, pervey. So much of this book takes place in the books that precede this one and the story ends so abruptly that you know it is going to continue on in future stories, that I felt a little cheated.
Characters from other stories and their plots spill into this book, making me aware that this is just the writer's style. Part of me wants to applaud that. It's so rare to find a book that doesn't wrap up nice and cleanly with marriage and a "they all lived happily ever after" ending. It's refreshing to find that her characters are human enough not to have all their lives and problems neat fixed but that they continue to struggle and deal like the rest of us.
At the same time, I wanted to read this story, with these two characters and see them through to being together. It's frustrating, like walking in late to a movie that you've been dying to see, so you're playing catch-up with the plot and once you really get into it, the movie raps up with "to be continued" that makes you want to scream.
Ah, well, guess you can't have it both ways, both rare and neatly wrapped up! So, as to what I thought of this book, well, I enjoyed it and was frustrated by it. I'm curious as to what I would have felt had I read the entire series before getting this book in the mail, and I just might hunt down the series and give them a read once I get over my immediate frustrations. Jun 25, Aspoon rated it liked it. So the only thing you really can review is the author and book in general. You can just breathe in the love he has for Laura and feel the emotions he goes through to keep her and make things work with her.
You can tell he loves that baby too. I was excited to see their love grow into something special. This was a great addition and I loved getting caught up with all of the characters from the previous books!! Owen and Laura have such a loving story. The scenes between them have some of the most touching moments that I have read. I just love how the two of them take care of each other. Owen is definitely a sweetie!! I was so excited to read about Joe and Janey and I love how their personal story is progressing!!! I was shocked with Seamus and am not sure how I feel about what happened--I will have to see in other books how it goes from here.
I just can't say enough about what a great series this is and how much I enjoy each and every book and can't wait for the next. Gansett Island is definitely one of those ficitonal places that I wish was real as well as the characters!! Marie definitely got down and dirty with a lot of her couples in this one!!! I was immediately drawn back into the world of Gansett Island with the McCarthys and I was sad to see the book end!!
Well Done Marie Force--keep them coming!!! Jun 06, Amanda rated it it was amazing. Wow, what an amazing book! Like all of the other books by Marie Force, I just could't seem to put this one down. Seasons for Love is the 6th book in the McCarthy books and as wonderful as can be! Normally the sequals are never as good as the first, however, this series proves that all wrong and the books just keep getting hotter and hotter!

There isn't enough good that can be said of this book, it is a must read for a first, second and even third time. The only part I didn't enjoy about the book was the ending.
