More than presenting you with dry theological facts or systematic theology, I am hoping to connect you with the epic narrative that God has been writing since the dawn of time. Scholars have written extensively on how Jesus has saved us from the power of sin through His birth, life, death, and resurrection. The glory of having our sins washed away by the blood that speaks better than that of Abel cannot be overemphasized.
The helpless Child Mary held in her arms that cold winter night would bleed and die the death of a criminal before her eyes in just a few short decades, piercing her own soul Luke 2: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants were the people whom God had chosen and ordained to teach all of the nations about the LORD. Their continued sin, disobedience, and rebellion kept them from truly knowing their King and Maker and mediating that knowledge to the nations. But the Author of the story was not dismayed or discouraged. As I alluded to in my previous post on the mercy of God in the Incarnation , the full idea of biblical salvation involves so much more than saving men from their sins.
Sin kept us from right relationship with God, but through repentance and the shed blood of Jesus we now have been reconciled to God. From the days of Neubchadnezzar and Babylon, Israel has been under the oppression of wicked rulers and empires. Around the first century, Jewish expectation of a political deliverer, their Messiah, had swelled and was ripe. The prophets, psalms, and apostles spoke often of the political deliverance and kingdom of the Messiah:.
He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth. Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him; All nations shall serve Him. The hope of mankind is that the Babe born in lowliness would rule all of the nations as King from Jerusalem Zechariah 8: Jesus, the LORD, will be the only One exalted in that day as His power, meekness, mercy, and covenantal love is exhibited for all of the nations to see and savor.
We must not just ask what we will be saved from, but why will we be saved? More importantly, who is saving us and what motivates Him to do so? We must ask these questions, because the answers to them tell us about a Person. To briefly answer those questions, we must look at the beginning of the story. At the dawn of time when the stars were young, God dwelt with man on the earth in unhindered fellowship.
Adam was placed in a garden sanctuary to minister to God and to enjoy communion and companionship with Him. This is not a fairy tale or just a good story to tell in Sunday school class.
The Incarnation Apart From Sin?
According to Jewish tradition, that dreadful day in the garden sent Adam and Eve into deep mourning for 7 days. Would God be gracious and restore that which was lost? Indeed, there was hope. God did not abandon man and the rest of His creation but had a perfect plan to fix it and restore it to its original glory. This quote by Asher Intrater, a prominent messianic Jew, brings the clarity and puts the whole story into the light:.
The Bible is not only consistent from beginning to end, it has a perfect symmetry. Forged in the fires of hell beauty becomes sin incarnate. When she calls forth a lord of the underworld and begs for irresistible beauty, he asks one simple thing in return; she must serve him as one of the underworld females who tests mortal men…then torture them with her beauty when they fail. Now, a thousand years later, this is Forged in the fires of hell beauty becomes sin incarnate. Now, a thousand years later, this is her last night in the mortal realm and her final chance to find a man who can free her.

Feb 08, Shirley rated it liked it. This one had pretty much everything. An unexpected threesome at least it was unexpected to me a little bit of magic, two really hot guys and a super jealous evil guy. Then there was the chocolate and strawberries and the promise of true love. Yep, pretty much everything all tied up with some really hot scenes and a touch of sweetness. I also read it as p This one had pretty much everything.
I also read it as part of the Doin It Dirty 2.

Both men are interested and both want to have a little fun, even if Jace is a little hesitant. A fun, a quick read and a pretty cool story line. Lorna needs to learn the value of herself and that she is deserving of love. Just because you are beautiful doesn't mean you will not get used and treated badly. It is what you portray of yourself and what you believe in yourself.
In the end it is a good lesson to learn and a awesome message and told in a good story. Dec 03, Jen rated it liked it Shelves: Wasn't really what I thought it would be. It's good for a quick read, but it was a little rushed in places and dragged out in others. In the beginning Lorna, a witch, was tired of being treated like a tramp. Sure whatever centery it was they didn't really have that, but the guy she was with said he loved her, and once she slept with him, he left her.
She was tired of the games. Aeden, The Prince of Desire thought she was beautiful just the way she was, but he granted her wish.

The only catch, after a centery of playing with the mortals, if she hasn't found love, she is to return to him and become his Queen. So her years of trying to find a mortal to love was almost over. She had one more day to try. Jace was a sweetheart though - after 3 years of heartache, his step mother has finally had enough and hired a couple girls for him and his best friend to enjoy for one night. But Jace wasn't ready. He didn't even want to think about another woman just yet.
But Ryan talked him into it. A little something to help him think of another woman in his bed other than Jenny.
