Hotels travelers are raving about...

Selfie stick with GoPro was clutched tightly in her hand! So, I was pretty tired last night after 2 very long dives. This was met with a lot of enthusiasm as there was nobody else at the restaurant and staff were bored. So suggestions were made about racing around the swimming pool with mama aboard to see who could go fastest. There was much laughing as I sprinted away! There has been an old chair sitting in front of the counter in the restaurant at Paradise the past few of trips.

It is lopsided and staff perch on it when they have no customers.

Sure enough, one of the back legs had an extra piece on the bottom which was causing the problem actually 3 legs had lost the bottom extra bit! Word of mouth…or how things work here. There was a lady dive porter, Nengah, who gave a good massage, she has very little english. Her daughter in law, Komang, worked in the restaurant at Paradise and we could get her to organise Nengah to come to our room to massage when she finished work. Komang moved on to work elsewhere due to the Mt Agung issues.

A few days ago, we were walking back along the beach after a dive and Komang appeared and gave me a hug. I asked about father in law and she pointed and he was there, and is doing well.

The in laws are home for Galungan. We asked about massages and that evening Nengah arrived at Paradise restaurant to see us.

BALI VLOG #10 -- BIG NUTS AND BEACH SUNSETS!

Price was agreed on, I got her to call my phone so I had her number, we got one of the restaurant staff to call her earlier today, and she is here right now massaging hubby out the front of the room. Hubby is happy, and even better, the family are getting a bit of money as the sick husband cannot work. Gotta love how things just seem to fall into place here. No cuppa, better still a glass of wine in hand while reading your report. Shame re the diving, people just seem to want the experience without any thought to the environment. Tulamben musings ready check.

Cbimages, always great to read your posts. Still laughing by reading about your porter manners and recalling the incident you told last summer ;-. So sad to hear about the divers disrespecting the water and its life. I continually love reading your posts.. I too love the smell of incense and the offerings I had hoped companies would have addressed risky novice diver behaviour by now. Sorry to hear there are still poor practices. Sounds scary letting people who obviously have no idea, into the water with diving gear! Glad Mama didn't end up dumped in the pool! Thanks once again, cb, for the wonderful musings.

I'm not a diver but I am in awe of a coral reef, fishes, etc.

My very personal opinion is the organisers are wanting business and therefore anything goes. Tourists will be allowed to do whatever they like. If measures aren't taken then there'll be no under water world left and then there's no business. Yes, the destruction of the reefs is very worrying, already the balance of fish species is very skewed and some species of coral eaters such as butterflyfish are no longer on some sites here.

Even worse, I was talking to someone last night who told me that some non local dive guides are letting people from a certain country break off bits of coral to take as a souvenir! There have been 3 different local dive guides tell me how destructive some people are that have started to come here recently.
