Berlin Crisis of Sinking of the Titanic. The author is also repetitious about certain subjects. He is quite eager to dispel myths about Islam and sometimes this focus becomes too intense. I would have appreciated more focus on the bigger picture instead of these smaller details. Although I know Idiot's Guide books are supposed to be informal, this book sometimes takes it to silly proportions.
For example, when discussing the power of God, he compares it to being almost like the Force from Star Wars. This struck me as a rather bizarre comparison. Overall, although this book helped introduce me to some important concepts of Islam, I finished it feeling many details were left out. I would recommend this book only to those who know very little about Islam as it is quite basic.
I met quite a few people all at once that believed in Islam. They were all a big part of my life and I wanted to learn more about what they believed in. This was the perfect book to read for my experience.

It was very informative and covered a lot of bases. It even got my friend's stamp of approval: Good read, highly recommended to those who just want to understand where normal Muslim's are coming from and what fundamentals they understand as their faith. I'm sure it varies from person to person, but I really think this is one of the things Id start with for a good overview.
One person found this helpful. I found the writing tedious and repetitious.
While the book does inform about Islam and how it is similar and different from Christianity and Judaism, my primary objection is the writing style and the organization of the material. Great book for anybody that does not know anything about Islam. We will be hosting a couple of exchange students that are Muslim so I wanted to know more about Islam.
This was the perfect book for just that. I read the other reviews of this book before getting it, and despite the "biased" and other such comments still felt there had to be something in here worth reading. I was not wrong.
I think the points he makes are important but the tone and style does not help convey them. I think this is a great read and if it were not for the tone in the start of the book it would be 5 stars. If you are looking for a great overview of all things islam this is as good a start as any.
Even as a born Muslim I like reading it in order to explain things better and in an easier form to non Muslims. I've gifted this book many times throughout my interfaith work. See all 29 reviews.
