And this book is by far my favorite.
It has everything--romance, mystery, heartache, and the undying spirit of the Amish people. If I didn't love my modern conveniences so much, I could easily turn Amish myself!! I connected with M. She was an unwlling teacher, but she discovered, as I did, how much she loved it. I love the way she worked to discover how to teach every child to meet their individual needs. It was also good to see that Amish children are just like children elswhere!

I was mesmerized by the trail of mysteries running through the book. This is so much more than a coming-of-age story or even a romance. Yes, you will be certain to get your fill of genuine romance. But through it all, the hand of God guided each character that allowed Him to.
Hardback Editions
Notwithstanding, even the Amish are not protected from the evil and harships of this world. I loved Chris, and I never liked Jimmy. You'll see that for herself. If you are new to Amish fiction or an absolute Amish-fiction freak, this book will not disappoint you. It is by far the best in the Stoney Ridge series at least in my opinion. I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are percent mine.
She is the younger sister that has a spark ready to set off at any moment and her closest friend being a boy who gets up to all kinds of mischief made for a great read. I enjoy seeing characters develop from childhood in stories like this one. There is lots to laugh about, Suzanne certainly excels at giving M. K a voice that has you laughing out loud and smiling throughout the ordeals that she goes through. For anyone who loves reading Amish books, I can't recommend this book enough. So many times you know who will end up with whom after the first couple of pages and most of the book is filled with repetitive reasons why they should or shouldn't get together.
This book is so different.
The two main characters actually have problems in their lives which aren't connected to their relationship in fact, there is no relationship for a huge part of the story. Each character has to deal with their own life and solve their own problems and they grow together as part of that progress. This book will make you laugh out loud and also cry at times. I highly recommend this book. Don't have a Kindle? Try the Kindle edition and experience these great reading features: Share your thoughts with other customers. Write a customer review. Stoney Ridge Seasons Series by Suzanne Woods Fisher
One person found this helpful. She is the younger sister that has a spark ready to set off at any moment and her closest friend being a boy who gets up to all kinds of mischief made for a great read. Each character has to deal with their own life and solve their own problems and they grow together as part of that progress. This book will make you laugh out loud and also cry at times. I highly recommend this book. The Lesson, like the Haven, has charming characters. Parts of the book moved slowly for me, but the middle and the end were pretty good. The story line turned out to be surprising for an Amish book. The ending could have been in a Hallmark movie. Mary Kate, the heroine, is more vulnerable in this book and unsure of herself compared to the last book.
She was never unsure of herself before! But it's because she has to teach for the first time. All the while, she is contemplating escaping to some distant land.
But does Stoney Ridge have what she's looking for? A new arrival may be the key to her finding what her heart really wants. I am happy and sorry to say that my three unnamed favorite authors have moved down my list. Suzanne Woods Fisher has won me over.
Follow the Author
Suzanne just moved to my first place list of authors. Let me say that I give an author one shot. Then Suzanne flew into my heart with her beautiful, stories. She takes my heartache of every day life and off to Stoney Ridge I land. I can even smell Ferns homemade Sour dough bread. Mary Kate Lapp was nineteen years old and restless in her small town of Stoney Ridge.
She was the youngest and last child living at home with her father, Amos, and her stepmother, Fern. She was a bee keeper, amateur detective, news gatherer, and bread maker. She accidentally ran into two people with her red scooter and what happens because of that is the rest of the story.
Do NOT start reading this book unless you have nothing else you're required to do! You won't want to put it down, especially the last third or so I was very tired the next day at work because I couldn't stop reading! But do yourself a favor and read all three. It sets up this story and the main character beautifully.
And I don't usually rave like this, but it's one of the most engaging stories I've read in a long time and I pray there's a fourth with M.
