External qi healing is defined as the treatment conducted by qigong practitioners on patients through the mobilisation of external qi, without relying on other material. Before the s external qi healing was considered as something very high level and beyond reach, only few high-level qigong masters could do that.
However many qigong practitioners are now applying it to heal others. Many practitioners can pick up this healing method after learning it for a short period. Therefore there are currently two views on healing with external qi. There is a faction that says that external qi healing is not something that can be conducted without years of practice. Another faction says that only a few weeks or even few days of training will do.
The difference is mainly because different forms have different theories and they emphasise on different aspects.

I like the scientific approach without religious dogma. I stumbled upon Zhineng Qigong as a result of observing and participating in a Buddhist sect. The sect leaders use methods very similar to Zhineng for health and healing with almost miraculous results. I have difficulty accepting the religious dogma, especially the vows of secrecy and discipleship requirement if a student wants to go beyond their basic public practice. I did a lot of googling to find out more and realized much of what they do is very similar to Zhineng Qigong pulling qi, lift qi up, head touching sky feet on the ground, preparing the qi field etc.
Though some terms are changed, I came to realize that the sect is using methods very similar to Zhineng Qigong for healing, with the added placebo of Buddhist deities. I actually quite like the helpful deities, but I cannot accept the dogma of the sect. Due to the extraordinary capabilities of some diligent practitioners, guru-godman cults package qigong and yogic meditation as a way to promote their superstitious cult agenda for profit and power. This book helps to take back qigong as a secular discipline that brings health and extraordinary capabilities or EC.
EC is what is commonly referred to as siddhi in the Vedic tradition. We must understand all thi,s in order to make the practise efective and get real health and balance in all fields.
