Miri at first strongly refuses, but after Rachel undergoes some horrible abuse at the hands of some bullying A-list girls at After reading the first book in this series I was hooked and wanted to know more about what happens in Frogs and French Kisses. Miri at first strongly refuses, but after Rachel undergoes some horrible abuse at the hands of some bullying A-list girls at school all because of her Freshman Fashion show failure , she relents. But the spell backfires, and the love spell lands instead on Raf's older and more handsome brother Will who by the way is the Senior President of their school.

In the begining Will freaks Rachel out with his Stalking and that is how she finds out that the spell back fired. Rachel's willing to let the spell wear off, as it will naturally, until Will asks her to prom. Rachel wants to improve her status, and prove to those mean girls that she is at the top. Another part of Rachel's reasoning to going out with Will is to make Raf jealous. Raf has already moved on to Rachel's ultamate enemy, and doesn't show a sign of jealousy.

Rachel's life at home on the other hand invloves a lot of time with out her mother. Why you might ask? Well, becasue her mom has started to date again which means that he moms pact to never use magic has been broken and now she is a crazed witch. Miri becomes sad with the thought of never seeing her mother and just wants Rachel around. Rachel made a promise to Miri, since Miri casted the spell on Will and the girls who where bullying Rachel, that in return Rachel would help Miri slove world peace.

In the book they spend quite some time at their fathers house with his new wife who they have suddenly grown a liking for. Since Rachels mom is off making herself look like a barbie doll and dating all of Manhattan, Rachel is the new boss in town.

In the end Rachel decided to not go to prom with Will, becasue she knows that she didn't deserve it and in the end Will goes with the real girl of his dreams. Raf goes with Rachels enemy, and just when Rachel thought this night couldn't get better Rachel dicovers she is also a witch. My first re-read of this book, and it's even better than I remembered! This book was so funny. Rachel continues to be her usual teenage self; life is unfair and everything is lame, and she only cares about boys and shoes and getting on the high school's A-list.

She's not obnoxious, though, just I love Rachel's sense of humor, as well as her inner monologue that made me laugh out loud too many times to count. She's definitely a n unwilling troublemaker, but she always manages to make My first re-read of this book, and it's even better than I remembered! She's definitely a n unwilling troublemaker, but she always manages to make it right in the end anyway.

What I also love about Rachel is that she's just so much more than a typical teenager. She has learned so much since the first novel, and the character development in this novel is just amazing! She really took charge of everything in the end and managed to save the day both for herself, her mother, her sister, and Only this time around, I related to her even more than in the first novel. Especially regarding her endless love for animals and how she tries to save the world by herself. She's such a selfless character, always trying to do the right thing. I'm having so much fun reading these middle-grade novels.

They're very entertaining, charming, and just an overall pleasure to read. Oh, the memories of childhood making me nostalgic I was so in love with this book that I just need to dive straight into the next one in the series! This book held more laughs for me. Now that their mother has found out the truth about the magic Miri has been dealing, with the help from Rachel of course she decides to allow magic in the household and even allows herself to start to use some magic. Miri is trying to save the world, Rachel is trying to save her reputation, and their mother is trying to save her dating life.

Sound like a mess? It all gets out of hand and Rachel is feeling more alone than ever. I really like Rachel in this book. After being left to fend for herself and Miri, Rachel is forced to grow up just a little. She is rarely home leaving Rachel and Miri to figure things out on their own.

Miri also gets out of hand a little in the book with trying to save the world, which leaves Rachel without any help in trying to fix or get past everything that happened last year. Miri has a lot to learn about magic which is causing her spells to have minor and sometimes major glitches. With her mom and her sister out of control, Rachel is left with saving her everyone and saving the prom which she and Miri basically ruined before it even started.

Rachel and Miri do a little love spell but on the wrong guy. With all the magic mishaps, family drama, and mixed feelings this book kept me laughing all the way through. This is such a good series for those light and fluffy read moods. Again, super cute, just like Bras and Broomsticks. Lots of over-the-top drama in the teen world, lots of hilarious escalations and schemes like, "If I go to school today everyone will laugh at me and I will cry and due to my teary, bleary vision I will accidentally step off the curb without noticing the school bus coming and get run over and will need to be hospitalized and be taken care of by a super hot doctor and everyone will feel bad for me and like me again and not make fun of me.

This book, just like the first, doesn't claim to be anything other than what it is from the cover artwork to the last sentence, both books proudly proclaim themselves to be silly stories about the hilarious trials of being a teen girl, with some magic thrown into the mix. The writing is obviously very juvenile because the story is told in first person by a 14 year old protagonist, BUT while the juvenile tone bothers me a lot in teen fiction when that fiction claims to send some sort of uber important message, think Hunger Games and then falls flat on the writing, in this series the immature language and sentence structure make sense and add to my enjoyment of the story much like in the Wimpy Kid series.

I would recommend this series to: I like witches, witchcraft anything that has to do with powers. So of course I loved this book. And of course like any series, the first one is the best, and eventually they aren't that good. The fire dies out and we are only left with a glimmer of what the story one was.

Though hopefully not with these This review was originally posted on my blog LoveThyBook This is a sequel to Bras and Broomsticks which I loved, and yes I know it's for middle school kids or High School but I liked it, so there.

Though hopefully not with these books. The story picks up only a couple weeks after the first book finished, so we get to see how everything ended and what was happening after the big embarrassment Rachel got herself into. Well she didn't learn her lesson that's for sure, she still goes and makes her sister do magic, for her own benefit, which in turn backfires, almost every time.

She accidentally made Will fall in love with her. Will is Raf's brother, and she is in love with Raf.

  • Makita (Cats of Catarau Book 3)?
  • Night Critters (Multi-Author Box Set).
  • Raffles: Playing On!
  • Kissing Frogs.

And that's what the book is about. I won't say more in case you haven't read it, or don't want to spoil the rest of the series. I liked this book, not as much as the first one, but enough to make me pick up the third one. Which I'm almost done with, and it's great, so check back soon for a review on that one. I rate the second book in a series higher than the first. Probably because I've already been introduced to the characters and it's easier to get into the story. Or maybe it's just better. Rachel Weinstein is no longer surprised by the fact that she's living with two genuine witches. What does surprise her is the craziness both of those witches have gotten themselves into.

In Rachel's own words, she says they are becoming "magicoholics. First with the homeless. Rachel's mother is a whole other story. After being pressured into entering the wild world of dating by her lovely daughter, Rachel's mother goes stark crazy. She becomes dependent on magic to fix her up and to attract other men. She's not even having any fun dating all these men, but it's too late to back out.

While this is going on, Rachel is dealing with a love spell gone haywire. What meant to be a spell to attract Raf--the freshman hottie Rachel is just so-o in love with--turned out to be a love spell for his smoldering older brother. At first Rachel sees this as a dilemma. And then she sees the possibilities of having a popular senior boyfriend. I think that this book is an okay book. So far I have only started reading this book and it is about this teenage girl named Rachel and she's a witch, well soon to become one. Her sister is already a witch who got the powers.

Rachel wants to become a witch but her powers have yet to come. I find the character really anyoying because all she cares is about herself and the things she wants like clothes and boys. She takes her true friends for granted and she thinks that she can use magic to solve a I think that this book is an okay book. She takes her true friends for granted and she thinks that she can use magic to solve almost every problems.

But she is wrong. She may be smart in Math but I think she is stupid in other areas in life such as common sense. It makes me think that she might not be able to handle the real world. I feel like I would not be able to trust her and I would most likely not be her friend if she was real because in the book she is a very self-centered girl. I think that Rachel should learn that she can't always have everything she wants. I kind of think that her powers not coming is a great idea because I think that if she does get her powers she would do selfish things and only care about herself and not help people who are in need.

Other than that I think that Raf not calling her back is a good move because this would show her a taste of her own medicine. I think that the author is trying to teach us that life isn't easy and that dreams are different from reality. I really loved this book, more so than the first one and the first one was great!

But this story really brought out the character of Rachel more and made her much more likable than the somewhat whiny person she was in the first book. Here she has grown and become more responsible, which is a good thing since her mother snd sister have fallen off the deep end with their magic. Rachel still gets into her situations and discovers magic isn't always something wonderful, but she is learning and becom I really loved this book, more so than the first one and the first one was great! Rachel still gets into her situations and discovers magic isn't always something wonderful, but she is learning and becoming more secure with herself and her ability to fit in, even if she isn't an A-lister.

And speaking of A-listers, I love how all the cool kids have these exotic names: And then the normal kids are Tammy, Rachel, Sarah. Sets the A-listers apart even more. While these books are written for young adult, I have found them so well written I forget they are intended for people much younger than I. Like the Twilight books they are books that span their audience and include those of us who may be past their target demographic but speak to us just as well.

Fabulous read, can't wait for the next one, especially since we discover right at the end she is getting her powers! Finlly she won't be the only non-witch in her house. May 24, Melissa He rated it liked it Shelves: Hooray for Rachael, her powers finally kick in. And as she's really excited to use them, she can't.

Because she doesn't know how to control them. So while she has difficulty on getting used to them, she's still happy that she's no longer an outcast compared to her mother and sister. Rachael then tries her powers out. After the incident at dance performance, she accidentally stood up Raf when she went to her dad's wedding, which was on the same day as the Spring Fling.

Rachael tried a love sp Hooray for Rachael, her powers finally kick in. Rachael tried a love spell on Raf. She needed an item that belonged to him, and luckily, he left his glove at her home when he came to pick her up. However, unfortunately, the glove actually belonged to Will, Raf's brother. So she ended up getting Will to fall in love with her instead of Raf, and she complicated her situation with Raf even further. I think that Rachael is a somewhat clumsy person. She doesn't really think about the consequences of her actions, and the possible things that could happen in the future. Because of this, this is probably one of the biggest reasons why she always gets herself into problems like these.

The book contained a little humor, which made the book a little more interesting to read. If I were to pick up another book from the library, I would pick the first book, because it would help to know how the characters got their magic. Despite that, its always nice to read a book about a relationship, and magic.

I would recommend this book to children starting from middle school because this book isn't a hard read, and the thoughts we read that are going on in Rachel's head can give us an image of whats going on in the book. Oct 09, Laura rated it did not like it Shelves: I'm being Goodreads honest here -- I did not like this book.

Would I recommend it to middle grade or teen readers? But man, this book has a lot of kind of very typical girl teen problems with typical dramatic teen girl overreactions. And my final complaint: I can't think of an example right now, but just a few l I'm being Goodreads honest here -- I did not like this book. I can't think of an example right now, but just a few little details were off and I found them jarring as I listened to the book.

After listening to the first half hour, I felt like I was missing something and carefully read the case. I finished the disk and decided to check here where I discovered, of course, that I'm listening to the second book in a series. Clearly, this is the kind of book that makes it hard to jump in mid-series. I recommend starting at the beginning! I wasn't sure about this one. I had enjoyed the first but it wasn't the best book ever. But this one, wow it's well good. It's much, much, much better and I sure will enjoy the next one if what happened at the end of this one was real.

This time Rachel and her sister Miri aren't in trouble their mother has decided that they can use magic. But by the end they've learned great deal about witchcraft and using it. And they now understand better why their mother isn't a practicing witch. Prom's on the I wasn't sure about this one. Everyone hates her and Raf doesn't talk to her since she stood him up for the spring dance to go to her father's wedding.

A love spell backfires and she ends up the girlfriend of the school's student council president. Will, Raf's older brother. Miri wants to save the world from everything that is wrong with it and their mom starts dating again, and using magic again. Oct 02, Ginger Solomon rated it really liked it. I found Kissing Frogs by D. Featherling to be highly amusing. Em's need to be in control turns many normal events into humorous situations.

If you need a laugh while reading a highly romantic story, this is the novel for you. I have not read the first book, and didn't feel as though I were missing anything, so it can be considered a stand-alone. The above is my honest opinion.
