Riverfront Park, Swansboro, NC. Jim Catfish Hunter Museum. Perquimans Arts League Gallery. A really helpful feature of this book is that the author points out specific directions for places that might be hard for a GPS to get you to, which can definitely be a problem with some of these places.
A few of the places that I found most interesting were: The Western North Carolina Nature Center I'm from this area and have been here many times, it's a very nice little nature center, their wolf exhibits are awesome! The Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville I've also been here.
This place is an amazing experience! Carolina Raptor Center Always wanted to go here. It is small but that have a lot of really nice exhibits and a nice animal collection.

The giant anteater and the gibbons are my favorite! Of course the NC Zoo- This is amazing zoo, they have a great set-up and lots of naturalistic exhibits. They are also very involved in zoo horticulture and managing endangered plants as well as animals. Durham Museum of Life and Science- Very interesting and well-maintained facility. Their exhibits are very naturalistic and seem to be great environments for the animals. The keepers and staff here are also very helpful and will answer any questions you may have or give great keeper talks! A really interesting exhibit this Museum has is the Butterfly house and the Insectarium! Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park- Have a variety of waterfowl species, many of them are rare or endangered.
