I made it and took it to a church meeting. There were only about three bites left which surprised me since I was planning on having the left overs to enjoy at home.! This recipe was amazing, but my grandma suggested that I put heavy whipping cream on top and it made it so much better. I made this and followed the direction but in the end there was two problems, the bread fell apart coming out of the bunt cake pan and two, the brown sugar harden up and didn't melt properly into the mix.

I was not a happy camper Not sure I should give this recipe 5 stars cause I changed it up quite a bit but because this is the 'inspirational' recipe, then it's definitely a 5 star recipe. Here's what I did differently: I misread or didn't read really that you were only supposed to mix the sugar and cinnamon to coat the biscuits so I mixed the sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon and coated the biscuits and it worked out great! I used 1 can of Grands flakey biscuits, I split each one in 2 and then cut each have into 4.

A stirring gives it a nice pourable texture and it seeps down into the biscuit nooks and crannies really well. I made this for a ladies bunko party. It was real good the house smelled great while it was cooking. Everyone wanted the recipe. I would give it a Multiple requests to make over and over again!!! Following the recipe to the "t" was great. Truly better then "moms". I didn't have walnuts so I used pecans, delicious.

It's a little grainy with brown sugar mixture. Not sure if I will make it again. We make this a lot, everyone loves it. Definitely a 5 star. All of my friends have raved about this Monkey Bread. I don't have a bundt pan and wondering if it would overflow or cause some other disaster, or if it would come out the same.

I just made this, I used truvia instead of granulated sugar and Splenda brown sugar blend instead of regular brown sugar. A great treat for a diabetic. I am a frequent baker and I followed this recipe to a T and it is not at all what I expected. I know baking times vary and I know my oven and this recipe was an epic fail. Will not be using again.

This was a big hit Christmas morning!!! I only used 2 cans of dough, not 4 like the recipe calls for. Will definitely make again!! I thought it was delicious and very easy to make and Lulu you pour the gooey stuff over the top after all layers are in. Will definetly make it again. BMjohnson is right about the amount of biscuits. I believe the 4 was for the mini package of four cans of biscuits which have 4 biscuits in each container.

I only placed half of the quartered biscuits in the pan before adding one half of the brown sugar and butter mix. I had added walnuts and raisins to step 4. The second half of the biscuits and rest of the sugar and butter mix followed. My only complaint was that to top of the cake dried out and hard while baking. It also called for 4 rolls of biscuits which would have been way to many. I stopped at 3 rolls of buscuits but could have used 2. It disappeared quickly in my house of teenagers.

I only used half the amount of biscuits called for and I used an old angel food pan. Half the amount filled the pan. I waited till all the biscuits were in the pan to add the "gooie" stuff and it worked out perfectly. The only thing I would change for the half recipe is less than 10 teaspoons of butter. There were 5 adults for dinner and we had about 10 quarter pieces left.

Tasted good later too. Easy and delicious - year-old granddaughter did most of the baking. This does not call for Grands, just regular biscuits that come 4 tubes in a package. Don't critcize a recipe when you didn't follow directions. Very easy and quite good. Big hit with folks I volunteer with at the thrift shop I use zip lock bags in a lot of my cooking and it's fun! You could also sprinkle raisins and nuts through out like the coffee cake I never make because I have to make dough. How do you test for being done and not burned??

I made this today and it was a super easy recipe to follow. And while it was cooking the smell took over the whole house. As soon as it came out I had to get me some. And I have to tell you that once it cooled down enough I could eat it. I was in hog heaven.

Thanks for the treat for my sweet tooth. My cousin makes this often. I remember my mother making monkey bread when I was a kid. I made this for my parents and we all loved it. This is quick and easy and will last for 3 days if covered. I am making this for Christmas morning for my grandkids and all the rest of the family. A great way to begin the morning!! This was great, however, the ingredients are incorrect like one reviewer mentioned.

The Pillsbury website has basically this exact recipe using only 2 cans of biscuits. The 4 cans listed this recipe is way too much if you are using the regular sized cans. I used the Grands biscuits with 8 biscuits in each can which the Pillsbury recipe calls for and it took much longer to cook and it was overflowing. So only use TWO cans not four, unless you are using the tiny cans. Why in the world doesn't Betty Crocker fix this recipe? I cut them into 6 pieces instead of 4. I baked it for 32 minutes just to make sure it was done.

The top layer of biscuits came out a little crunchy, but that just added to the taste if you ask me. I will definitely make this again! Maybe they are using the larger biscuits?? Not sure but wanted to say mine turned out even better than expected and will be a new Christmas morning staple in my house. My kids beg me to make it but I usually save it for special mornings. Sits out all night uncovered, bakes in forty min.

Granny’s Monkey Bread Recipe

Just a note to people wanting to make a recipe like this. We have made basically the same recipe since I was little. We also varied from using biscuits to using frozen bread dough that we thawed. I just finished making this recipe and it is absolutely fantastic! So easy to make, followed the recipe to the dot and it worked out perfectly. Thank you so much for this great recipe! I would also use a mini loaf pan instead of a bundt pan. I made this recipe yesterday and it was a big hit. My kids are already begging for more! Will the butter sitting over night cause it be to mushy? The kids beg for this I will be adding it to my Christmas brunch.

Ok sorry your husband was dismayed at your weight gain. It is okay to gain weight. How much did he gain. It is not okay for him to treat you that way. I made this last weekend for a baby shower. It was a HUGE hit. I placed tinfoil on with about 10 min or so left to avoid burning the top. Worked like a charm. This is going to be a new brunch staple. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I know this is an old recipe but i found it and just had to try it. Followed all of the directions to the T and it turned out complete perfection. Was such a huge hit. Wrote it down for the next time. Cant wait to try it around the holidays!! I followed the directions to a tee and everything else looks good beside the middle is still raw. Sometimes variances in the way ovens cook as well as the size of the bundt pan means that my exact cooking time might not work for others.

Hopefully it turned out! Occasionally I find the caramel is gritty and after baking the butter has separated and leaves a greasy puddle. Occasionally that has happened to me too. I think it has to do with the step when you heat the mixture together. I believe it needs to be just hot enough to dissolve the sugar. Too hot and it will crystalize. What do you think? This is the best monkey recipe I have found.

I use yeast roll dough and the result is amazingly yummy! So much so that my family and I enjoy it every time I make bread, usually every other week. Thank you for sharing this recipe! I used 3 cans and 3 biscuits from the 4th can. I made it the night before both times, set it out 30 minutes before baking it, added a little time for baking and they turned out great!

We have 7 children. I stumbled upon this recipe when looking for a recipe for monkey bread that I remember eating as a child. I had to comment because we tell people all the time that raising 7 children is just organized chaos.
