It defeats the purpose of actually making homemade cookies.

Ever since he received his book it arrived FAST! From my end - i love how clear and detailed the instructions are, also that there are a variety of "recipes" that range from "I don't know how to bake" to "i won a bake off this year" skill level! Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I would rate this higher but I am not into using pre-maid cookie mixes and some of the recipes call for that. So I had to change it up some.

All in all Great recipes and easy to follow directions for first time bakers especially.

Betty Crocker has been a part of my family for generations. These books are perfect to add to your collection. I own all the Big books and the Big red book and love them. They are great for adding variation to your weekly menu or sticking to the favorites you love.

One thing I love about these books is they give you examples or the right and wrong way of doing things. They also explain what goes wrong in the examples. This has the classic spritz recipe. I could've done without the gluten-free recipes; if I want to bake gluten-free I'll get a gluten-free book. One person found this helpful.     I ended up using light brown sugar before seeing your reply. The cookies turned out great in texture and taste. I was even skeptical about baking it right after making th dough since often times I have to refrigerate the dough to prevent massive spreading of the dough, but these! They rose and spread beautifully straight to the oven! But I wish I had that golden color all over! Thanks for a keeper recipe! Thank you for the recipe. My kids love them. I made them with about 2 tablespoon scoop for second batch and they were just perfect.

I know oven temperatures vary but I went for under rather than over as instructed and they my be a little gooey but sooo good! I used an ice cream scoop to dip out the cookie dough. A heaping ice cream scoop is right at theee table spoons. I have one question Forgive my nerdy attention to detail but the recipe list says two cups and the recipe say one 12 oz bag of chips.

    I did notice that my dough was really dry and not holding all the flour, so I added a little bit of milk, even though I had the correct amount of butter.     I have these nordic ware aluminum baking sheets I actually used both in these photos! But I usually just use chips like in the video! I will make a note of that in the recipe card!     Just made these cookies and they do taste great, but mine did not spread or flatten at all. What might cause that? That is the only thing I can think of that would cause them not to spread! Did you make any substitutions or use too much flour? Pay close attention to baking instructions temp, size, time. Mixed these up tonight with my 3 year old son and they turned out terrific! Rolling the dough into large balls, 9 in a half size baking sheet, worked out really well.

    These are actually the best chocolate chip cookies ever!!! The only substitute for light brown sugar I could suggest is dark brown sugar! There really is no other substitute in this recipe! I used an icecream scoop!! These cookies are amazing. I just made them and I followed all of the directions. I will absolutely make these again! I want to thank you for this fantastic recipe. I followed all the instructions and the result was just like you promised! Nice cookies, crunchy borders but nice soft inside.

    And a great flavor. All the family loved them. The trick is to be really careful with the baking. Just measure out one cup and make sure it softens! Well, I went to the store and all they had was the off brand butter. I know a ton of people say to use name brand bc of the taste but this is what I have to work with. Will that come out ok? The only negative comment I received was from someone who used Walmart brand butter and said the cookies were too salty although I am unsure if they used regular salt or sea salt — big difference.

    I find that the off brand butter tastes the same as the name brand. If I could give this recipe 1, stars, I would! My one and ONLY complaint is that my waist size is gonna grow! These needed significantly more than 10 minutes in my oven- I like them gooey but they were still dough. Be super careful not to overbake. As I stated in the post they will not look done when they really are! They bake a little further while cooling on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.

    That being said, every oven is different so baking time can change based on your oven.

      I eyeball I never measure the chips — I cream my butter and sugar and vanilla extract for about minutes however long it takes to pull out the rest of the ingredients and line me baking sheets. My cookies turned out incredible. I even took them to work… my coworkers Loved them and really had no idea they were sugar free which is crazy but they are so rich and decadent that they could fool anyone.

      I was on the keto diet for a month and I still try to keep my diet as sugar free as possible. Every single detail of the recipe was followed except for thode three things. Everything creamed together nicely and created a nice thick dough. I set them out and a few minutes later pushed them all gently down with a spatula.

      This gave them all a nice cracked look into the cookie where the chips were gooey and the cookie center was hot and soft. I put them on the counter overnight and they are just so pretty and Tasty! The best word to describe them is decadent. They travel well and will without question be a hit.
