This is the second book in the Brothers of Ash and Fire series and it can be read as a standalone, but I would suggest reading Gregori's book first because it was really good. I am so in love with this series! I can't wait for the next Barinov brother's story! Jan 10, Bookgasms Book Blog rated it it was amazing Shelves: Many of you know that shifter romance is one of my absolute favorite guilty pleasures—but dragon shifters are at the top of that list. And oh does it work for me in this awesome Brothers of Ash and Fire series. Mikhail is the middle brother who was banished from Russia years ago because he lost the family hoard of jewels he Oh my goodness. Mikhail is the middle brother who was banished from Russia years ago because he lost the family hoard of jewels he was supposed to bring back to the family.
Over the centuries, the hoard was lost and no one knew where it was—until now—and Mikhail is bound and determined to steal it back! I loved the connection between Mikhail and Piper, that there was their instant connection—their mating. But there was so much more between them—an almost instant trust. Jan 19, Christina rated it really liked it. Okay, his father actually exiled him for failing a mission, so I guess there's some "truth" behind it. But he hasn't returned to his home in Russia permanently for over two hundred years. Because he can't return home without his families jewels, the hoard that was given to them back in the Elizabethan era.
And now that the hoard has been found, there's 4 Stars - 2. And now that the hoard has been found, there's no way he's letting it slip away again. At least not without reason. Piper has loved jewels her entire life. So much so that she's become a gemologist. A huge hoard is now up for auction and she's been brought in to assess it. So when a handsome man shows up at a viewing, staring at the jewels with more than the usual interest, her curiosity is peeked. And then she really looks at him and can't stop thinking about all of the wonderful things that he could do to her.
Interesting considering she's a virgin. Mikhail was betrayed by someone he thought was his mate many years ago. His dragon hasn't really gotten over that and becomes nervous once he meets Piper. But of course it's not that simple. The chemistry between these two is everything you'd imagine it to be. Could the "scenes" have been a bit more for me? But it still worked. The drama behind the hoard is fascinating to read. Especially if you're able to allow yourself to mentally travel back to that time period. This author did a wonderful job bouncing back and forth between the time periods, bringing the old in with the new.
I could actually feel Mikhail's tortured soul and kept finding myself cheering him on. I'm happy that Grigori and Madelyn made an appearance as well. Oh how I love these Dragons. Keep reading, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the excerpt from the next book. Jan 09, April Symes rated it it was amazing Shelves: We have the story of Mikhail Barinov and Piper Linwood. I fell completely in love with the last book and this book was phenomenal.
I didn't want the book to end but wow what a great ending and I'm looking forward to the next one in the series! Aug 01, Hart's Reader Group rated it liked it Shelves: I know I am probably the odd one out here, but I didn't like this book as much as the first one. The characters were interesting enough, the story was entertaining enough, but the romance itself was meh.
Once again, we are given a heroine who falls much too easily into the hero's arms. Whatever, so they are "mates", that doesn't mean the woman should just turn to putty. Think of the mates in Kresley Cole books. NONE of those heroines were easy to get. She writes an a I know I am probably the odd one out here, but I didn't like this book as much as the first one.
She writes an amazingly tough, hard to seduce heroine. Much like normal women, BTW. A real, street smart woman, who is a little jaded from sucky dating, isn't going to just fall at the hero's feet and give him her virginity just because, "hey, he makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The sex was tepid, the descriptions were weak, the chemistry was forced, and I always felt like there should just be more. This book did not deliver the sexy shifter romance I was hoping for. I read this book and was interested enough in the world building to read the third book So, I'll just copy and paste this review into my review of book 3.
Dec 23, Laura rated it it was amazing Shelves: In Grigori, there were several mentions of Mikhail and his exile and lost treasure and I wasn't sure how it was going to become a terrific story. I shouldn't have worried, because Smith has told a compelling and romantic story of love and betrayal and obligations and revenge that answered all the questions I had about Mikhail after reading Grigori's book. Lots to love in this story. I liked that Piper was ambitious, that she was tops in her field.
I liked that Mikhail had initially failed - weird In Grigori, there were several mentions of Mikhail and his exile and lost treasure and I wasn't sure how it was going to become a terrific story. I liked that Mikhail had initially failed - weird, I know - because it showed his fallibility and gave him a chance to make it right. I liked several things about the peak of the story and the resolution, but won't state them to avoid spoilers. London society, some English history, rediscovered treasure, a little magic, and a sexy dragon shifter with a classy accent - it all adds up to a magical and romantic story.
Pairs well with steaming hot Earl Grey tea, fuzzy slippers, and a roaring fire. What will this uber alpha dragon do with a human???
Can he really tie himself to her? Does Piper have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save Mikhail Find out what happens in this amazing 2nd book in the Brothers of Ash and Fire series. I had loved the previous book so I was extremely excited to start Mikhail and while it was a good read I think somewhere along the line it started to have so much going on it took away from the relationship between Mikhail and Piper. For me that was what made me not love this one as much. I wanted that romance between them to shine, especially when we learn of what happened to Mikhail in his past. Paranormal romance is my all-time favorite genre, and I love shifter romances.
This is a dragon romance unlike any other. Intense, sizzling heat with great banter, fabulous characters, sexy dialogue and a perfect plot. So, just to get this review off on an honest foot I need to confess that I may have squealed and done a happy dance when this book came across as an option for reviewing. As soon as I saw this, I had to have it! It was a story about how different elements of life color make the world an interesting and better place.
I know it isn't The Giver as it was a very colorfully illustrated book. I would be so grateful if someone knew the title! Hello, I have been trying desperately to find a book a had as a child. I believe the cover had two owls on it and I remember all of the illustrations were animals and honestly I could describe some of them in detail.
I know most of the songs in it as well- rock a bye baby, good night ladies, cat and the fiddle, bye baby bunting, sleep baby sleep, etc.. Any help is appreciated.

I read it in the 80s, though I don't know when it was actually published. It was a funny story about a boy whose brother kept making his life miserable. There was a scene where his brother dumped a large number of spiders into his bed. There was another scene where the boy was admiring his new underwear while looking in the mirror, and his brother was spying on him while he was doing it, perhaps even took a picture.
The funniest book of my childhood, but I can't remember the name. Was the book a picture book or a chapter book? Was the horrible brother younger or older. If this isn't it, please post additional info. I remember reading a book I checked out from my elementary school library called Dump the Chump or Operation Dump the Chump. I don't remember much about it except that it was a boy trying to come up with a plan to get rid of his younger brother. Btw I read it in the 90s so maybe it's your book?
Another book I am trying to find is a teenage book I read at school, it was about a class room experiment that got went wrong and some of the pupils became segregated and sort of developed a nazi attitude. I don't know the name of the book, but there were several variations on this as a classroom experiment, or curriculum. Here's a page with information and links: Please help me, I am looking for a book I used to have when I was younger, it was a poetry book but I can only remember the cover, it was orange with small black figures on it of witches on broomsticks and cats, I can remember it had the poem the highwayman in it but that is all.
I read this picture book about 10 years ago. It was about a Rabbit and a Squirrel I've forgotten their names, but I think that they alliterated, like Ronald Rabbit and Sammy Squirrel or something like that. So they decide to build one, and they ask for donations from all the woodland creatures. Everyone in the forest decides to help out, except for one miser who's also the richest creature in the forest.
One of the illustrations I loved the most was one where all the creatures except the miser were queueing up to donate to the cause. So they build the fire brigade and colour it red, and it looks all nice. Then the miser's house catches on fire because he was smoking and forgot to put it out or something like that. The fire brigade comes and saves his house and he's grateful and decides to contribute to their cause after all.
I loved this book especially for it's lovely drawings, and I used to stare and them and try to redraw them. Unfortunately, I lost it when we moved a long time ago. I've tried looking for it, but it's stayed elusive. It would be great if you could help me out. I used to read this book to kndg. I would love to find it to read to my grandbabies!
Am looking for a book from aprox 20 years agowith i think a white outer cover about a pony called brownie.. Would be very grateful for your help I think the book may have contained other storys to.. The book I'm looking for was a book my teacher read aloud to our class in 6th grade which was aroun It told by a girl who was in 5th or 6th grade and was overweight. She was witty and humorous and wanted to just fit in.
Sorry, that' all I can recall. I thought it was possibly by Judy Blume, but not sure.

It was a paperback and I think there was a picture of a girl on the cover who was the main, overweight character. It also might have been one of the books that has an apple on it. Perhaps this is Blubber, by Judy Blume. Blubber was told by a classmate of the overweight girl, who went along with the teasing because she wanted to fit in. This book has been reissued a couple of times, but if you go to the Amazon listing you can see a picture of the older Scholastic paperback with the cover you described. Many of the comments on Amazon come from modern children who have suffered or observed teasing and bullying, and these are worth reading in themselves.
The children don't see the book as dated. I'm looking for a book. The details are very vague because I haven't seen it since I was very young. A young boy is on his bed, possibly jumping on his bed, putting on a "space helmet," which he either imagines or uses a bowl. At some point something makes the hair on his neck stand up, and I want to say he's descending a staircase. He encounters a bat possibly at the library , and there's a discussion about the bat getting a nosebleed from hanging upside down.
I seem to remember the illustrations being black and white and being reminiscent of Maurice Sendak. The book could have been published anytime up until the late s. It's possible that these are memories of multiple books that I've condensed in my memory, but I doubt it. Any information would be appreciated. A boy named George is pretending to have space adventures.
He gets caught in the rain and takes shelter in an abandonned house. A ghost named Fred is haunting the house to protect hhis gold coins, but he has forgotten where he hid them. I'm pretty sure he has a bat for company and that's where that line comes in. It is an easy reader book, not scary. I'm trying to find the name of a book that I loved as a child.
The name has something to do with a star. In the book about a little girl her mum had a baby on her birthday but then the baby died. I remember the babies name was something like Tanya. The book I am trying to find I read as child, probably 59 years ago. It was an old, used book - a collection of stories which often addressed the reader as I believe the stories were intended to teach a lesson. The only story I remember from it was about a boy who had a kitten that he adored. His father threatened to give it away to a family of cruel boys if the boy didn't take care of it properly.
One day the boy had forgotten to care for the kitten and he was so terrified that the kitten would live a life of abuse with the family of boys, that he took the kitten to the shore and drowned it, in order to spare it a terrible existence. When the father learned what had happened he was devastated , as he had never really meant to give the kitten away.
A terribly sad story, first story I read that made me cry. Can anyone help me? My girlfriend was born in and her father used to read her a poem every night from a book of poems. Sorry to say all she remembers is it was a green book. Her dad sadly passed away when she was 12 years old and her mother doesn't recall either. As a child my mother used to read to me out of a green book of poems.
So I figured I would share in case its the same book. It was called Famous Poems. The poem read to me was called The Duel about a gingham dog and a calico cat. I know this is a shot in the dark but I'm looking for a very specific book. It's a collection of Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales. There is a mermaid on it, I've had noooo luck! All I keep finding is the dark blue version with a small mermaid. The bottom of the book has seaweed stemming upwards! I read a book as a child that must have been written in the 60s or 70s, about an English boy and an African one.
They used to communicate over a wall? The African boy taught him some words in Swahili. I am not sure but the English boy may have had a physical disability?
Looking for a Childhood Book? Here's How.
I would really like to find out the title and the book again. She is then with her parents out running errands and goes into a hardware store and a clothing store. It had a store front on the cover like a brick store front but thats all I can remember and I know it had to be from the late 80's since I was born in 86 and I had it from when I was a baby on up. I cant remember anything else about the book other then it was made in the early 90's since I got it as a gift around age 6 or 7.
