How a Hero Runs the Race

RUN LIKE A HERO FOR CHILDREN’S HEALTH

Resaca de la Palma State Park. Runners will run a majority of this race in complete darkness on the existing earthen and grass hiking trails of the park. Expect high humidity and heat indexes on race day. We do not recommend this race option for inexperienced runners.

MUST have completed at least a previous half-marathon road or trail distance event. Parking for the event is located within the park boundaries. Cameron County Sheriff Department will be on site directing traffic.

The 5K race starts at 9: At the conclusion of the race there will be refreshments and an awards ceremony where our Department Challenge Coin Medals for each age group will be given out by our Chief of Police. We will also announce the winners of the fastest overall times for the 5K race, for men and women cash prizes to be given out.

Participants should park in the main parking lot off of Paxton Street along the frontage of Bass Pro Shops and 2nd and Charles. This event is Rain or Shine! Registration, Pre-Race Activities, Refreshments and the Awards Ceremony will be taking place inside the mall at center court.
