To accommodate the needs of our athletes while still assuring maximum safety and a fair, competitive environment, here is the arrangement that we can accommodate. Will you offer a Bag Check: Our Bag-check will be inside Warehouse We ask that you place your belongings in a bag with your first and last name and Bib clearly taped to the outside of the bag so we can easily identify your bag.
We will ask you to show your Bib when you pick up your bag at the finish. Please understand that we can't be responsible for your valuables so anything of value, please lock in your car. Can I switch my t-shirt size? Getting the shirt sizes accurate for all different body shapes and sizes is extremely difficult! If the size of the 'shirt' you ordered does not fit, we will be hosting a 'Shirt' swap area at the Bag check area in Pilates Plus after the race.
We cannot guarantee you will be able to swap but will do our best to accommodate your need. Can I use roller blades, a bike or skateboard? Unfortunately, for liability reasons, no bikes, skateboards or rollerblades are allowed. Will you offer Awards for Walkers-only? How many porta-potties will be on the Course: Fortunately, there are plenty of bathroom opportunities along the course. Along the waterfront before you drop down to Beaches, there will be a Porta potty. At Mile 2, you will pass Beaches Restaurant and they have agreed to allow all Girlfriends participants to use their restrooms.
At about Mile 3. You'll pass the Marine Park bathrooms again at around mile 6. You'll have the opportunity to use the Bathrooms at Beaches as we pass them again at around Mile 8 and the additional porta potty along the waterfront trail. At about Mile 9, you'll pass 2 Porta Potties that we've set up at Reserve and 5th street. At about Mile 10, you'll be traveling around the new Fred Meyer complex with lots of quick restroom stops at the local restaurants such as the Rock Woodfire Pizza, Subway, Panda express etc.
You'll pass the Reserve and 5th porta potties again at about Mile We'll post signs at each opportunity-plenty of options for even the most menopausal, bladder-challenged woman! Where should my family go to cheer me along? Don't assume they know to do this - sometimes you've got to give family a little direction! Are Dogs allowed on course? Unfortunately due to insurance requirements, only Service Dogs are allowed on course and must start at the end of the race after all other participants have started.

Hotels listed below are 20 minutes from airport. Here's a list of great local restaurants to help you carb up on Friday and Saturday night. Be sure to make reservations early! There will be lots of gals looking for pasta! We believe this is one of the prettiest courses in the Northwest! We've designed the Half Marathon The course is mostly flat with a couple of short hills so save a little energy. As you're climbing those hills just remember 'that which does not kill you, only makes you stronger'! There will be a few lead cyclists and plenty of course marshals and signage to ensure you know exactly where you are going.
There are a few very important splits on the course that you will want to pay attention to. At about 2 miles into the race at the bottom of Fort Vancouver, 10K athletes will turn around a little sooner than the Half Marathoners. The next split is at about 4 miles at Beaches restaurant, the 10K athletes will stay along the waterfront for a quick out and back and the Half Marathoners will head through the parking lot towards Wintler Park and back. Go the correct way based on how you have registered.
The 5K athletes will do a flat and fast out and back along the beautiful Columbia River waterfront trail. Click here to view the Online 5K Route. Click here to view Online 10K Route. Yes, but if you can, please register ahead of time. Thanks so much for understanding! Can someone else pick up my racing packet? This form will confirm that you will be the individual participating in the event and that you agree to not allow anyone else to race on your behalf. There are no refunds issued for your registration however, we do understand that things come up that are beyond your control. As a customer service initiative, we do offer the ability to transfer your registration to next year's event, another upcoming Why Racing Event that year or to transfer your registration to another participant.
Most events don't allow transfers or refunds at all so this is a courtesy we offer to our participants. If you are transferring your registration to someone else, you must let us know so we can update their emergency contact info and to assure the credibility of results. If you are unable to race due to medical reasons or a simple change of schedule, athletes may defer their general race entry slot to the same race the following year, transfer to another Why Racing Event that year or transfer their entry to another athlete.
Deferrals or transfers do not carry over beyond one year. This deferral or transfer only covers the race entry fee. USAT one day passes, processing fees and online registration fees will not be included in your credit. In order to defer or transfer your registration you will need to e-mail us at registration whyracingevents.
You can defer or transfer your entry outside of 61 days from the event for no fee. Athletes are not guaranteed registration if the race sells out before they attempt to enter. There is only one transfer or defer allowed per original registration.
If transferring from a race with a higher entry fee to race with a lower entry fee, the athlete will receive no refund of the difference in the fees. If transferring from a race with a lower entry fee to race with a higher entry fee, the athlete will be required to pay the difference of these two race fees. USAT rules do not allow single day memberships to be transferred between events.
If you wish to transfer your own entry within an event to another distance, you will need to e-mail registration whyracingevents. You can change your distance within an event outside of 61 days from the event for no fee. Do you know why you should never transfer a race bib to a friend or family member without letting the Race Director know? That's a major safety concern. Secondly, let's say 60 year Sally gives her 20 year old son Biff her race bib because she's not able to race. When Biff clocks a 5 minute mile using his Mom's bib it looks like Sally rocked it at 60 years old and knocks Bertha, 62 year old Grandma, out of her legitimate first place age group finish.
That's not fair to Bertha who worked so hard to win her age group. Now Bertha is wondering who the heck Sally is not understanding that it was actually Biff who beat her! Ok, so the message is don't be BIFF! This goes on all the time and the only way to correct it is for all of you to understand the importance and police it. If you know someone is giving away their bib, be sure to remind them to let the Race Director know!
Often the athlete doesn't fully understand how much this can impact safety and negatively affect everyone's results and just needs to be educated in a friendly manner. Registration package pick up location changes so pay attention to times and days listed below. Girlfriend — how do you finish a Quarter and Half Marathon? You can run, jog, walk or crawl.
That puts purpose to your training and forces you to commit - an important part of getting to the finish line! It's time to train! Yes, we want you to get to the finish line feeling strong, healthy, reaching for your best, and injury free! One way to help your training is to join a local running club, clinic or training studio. Here is a list of resources to assist you with your training and preparation:. General Running Program Design: If you are going to attempt this on your own or would like a better understanding of proper training protocol, here are a few general guidelines for designing your training program.
Also notice we're using a Disposable Chip Timing piece within your racing Bib to more accurately track your pace and placement. At about weeks from race day, it's time to back off on your training mileage to allow your body enough time to recover and repair before event day. Focus more on quality versus quantity. This is more important for the longer distances. Race Day Mental Prep: As you travel to the race, repeat some positive self-statements about how well you feel and how excited you are about the event.
Smile and get yourself in a good frame of mind. Remember to enjoy the experience. Try your best but remember to pace yourself! You've already won just by showing up! Be a good Girlfriend: One of the best things you can do during the race to help others have an enjoyable experience is to offer lots of support and praise to the rest of the gals completing this event. Not bad for my first half at age I will be running in the event at Dove Mountain in February.
Everyone Runs is truly a class-act! Thank you for putting on such a great event. Your attention to, and respect for, runners of all ability is to be commended. The event has such an awesome, home-town, feel to it! The National Anthem was beautifully sung and the tribute to our Veterans, well, that was pretty special, too. Thank you, again, so very much. To coordinate the 5k, half, GOTR 5k, and the run with the younger kiddos? Thanks for putting on an awesome half marathon and that Mexican breakfast at the end is such an awesome perk at your events.
Keep up the great races! Keep up the amazing job that you bless others and me! This was my first half marathon and it was great! Thank you for putting on such a wonderful event.
Event Details - Why Racing Events
Enjoyed the music and thankful to ALL the volunteers for giving up their Sunday morning. Thank you to all of you. Great race, good times.. You put on the best races Steve! Anthem was being finished gave me goose bumps! It was a great run! Thanks for putting on such a great event! You are well organized. The amenities are wonderful. Because of those, the atmosphere is great. Thank you for your hard work in producing such a fine event. Thanks for the super fun run. Everyone was having fun and super sportive of each other. Looking forward to many more! Great to have met Steve.
What a great event! Many thanks to the Race Director, Steve Landau, who not only was directing, announcing and cheering, but also went around making everyone feel welcome! I love you, I love your events, and I seriously love to run. Thank you so much. This was my 1st trail race, SO much fun and pretty.
The race was a blast! Great event, excellent organization and beautiful course. Many thanks to all the volunteers who did an awesome job: See you in the fall. We both had a great time. We will be back in September for sure! OMG, thank you so much. Love the Everyone Runs events. Could only run 3 of the 5 miles. I had just started running and was beginning to train for my first half marathon in January. But the Catalina Trail Run is my fave.
This time got 8 others to do the race too. Thank you so much, you all do a great job and appreciate all you do. Thank YOU for holding such great events. It was fun and I love the community feel of your races! What a great day for a run!! I especially liked the bagpiper in the skirt and compression socks.

This was a perfect event! Even the police were outstanding! Not only do you put so much into turning out quality events but you care for every runner and walker that participates, from the fastest to the slowest, down to the smallest detail. You and your family are great people and I always look forward to the long drive from Gilbert for one of your events. See you at the next one!
Absolutely great run yesterday! Beautiful course, and weather. This is my first experience with any of your events. The organization was outstanding, the venue was perfect, it was such a blast. I will be back for your other events next year. This was my first year running and I ran all 4 events. One of the things I really love about your races is that so many runners say thanks for volunteering as they go by.
I think it is a reflection of the respect everyone has for the way you and your crew put on a race. It was great fun, thanks. When I came back for the 2nd loop she was ringing the bell and mooing at me. The event was flawless in every way! Bus companies tell their drivers nothing.
If you can, it might be a good idea to have one of the traffic volunteers prepped on bus logistics, especially turnaround, so they can let the driver know. Thanks again for a great event. See you at the Half Marathon and good news! Great volunteers, great post-race refreshments, incredible route, and all-around well put together event! Excellent race as always Steve! Thanks to all the volunteers, too! The National Anthem was beautifully sung! Hi, I participated in my first everyone runs race this am at the run with the roosters.
I was impressed with the entire event. First Everyone Runs race I have done. Had an excellent time. Beautiful time of day to run. Post race food tasted great. Even got the shirt size I wanted after being on the wait list. I just wanted to let you know I had a blast at the race today and a great time yesterday helping at packet pick up.
Thanks for putting on another wonderful event! Everyone Runs events continue to grow and always impress! Thanks for another great race! My one suggestion would be that it would be really great if you would offer a breakfast option for vegetarians. You may not have thought of it, but both the tortillas and beans offered at the two events were not vegetarian.
It also meant that I was in a rush to leave and get food, while I would have enjoyed hanging out and cheering on later finishers. Aaron and I were first timers and we loved the whole experience. We are hooked and already planning the next event. Thank you for everything!

As always, thanks for a fantastic event today. The volunteers were great, the post-run food was tasty, and it was an overall great day. My only suggestion is to repeat over and over and over what side of the trail you want people to run on. The out and back sections got a little hairy, but I think most people were just unaware of where they should be on the trail. Everything worked perfectly, even the bus. You put on great events.
Testimonials
First time at this one. Course much faster than the reverse course. You guys put on some of the best events!!! This run was my favorite and the Sabino Half comes next. I appreciate all you do putting these races together. Hey Steve and family. U all take care of the details which make the event Outstanding.
And a big thanks to the Son of God who created the landscape. Thanks to everyone that helped out at the event. You guys put on a great race! We are from NYC but will definitely do another race when we are back in town. Visiting my folks and decided to sign up for the race.
Glad that I did. Beautiful day and a fun, well-organized race. Great post-race food plus a nice massage! My first trail run and it was beautiful, fun, and well organized! Thank you for the encouragement! Yes, good job again Steve, we think your races are the best in town, everything is just perfect, even the weather was on our side today! The course was great and all the volunteers made it very easy to follow.
Everyone was pumped up and very supportive. Not to mention the great weather! Your photographers do a great job capturing the excitement of race day! I had a great time! Great job as usual! The weather was ideal for July , the scenery gorgeous, and the volunteers cheerful and absolutely wonderful. That was one of the most satisfying walks for me. Thanks again for such a beautiful day with memories that last forever,. Great run on Sunday. Perfect weather and beautiful views. A couple of more port-a-johns might help the really long line that formed. I think that is standard with most events.
Also, that sports drink that was handed out at the water stations was not good. Plain old water is always acceptable or make sure that the volunteers let us know what we are getting. Other than that, really had a great time. Love the shirts and having our names on the bibs was fun. People passing me the other way would shout words of encouragement. At first I was puzzled as to how they knew my name. Thanks to everyone that made this event happen.
I will be back next year! Just wanted to drop a note and say thanks for everything you and your team did to put this event on. My family had a blast and I ran a new PB. I will be out of the country for the next race, but plan on being here for the half marathon. Thanks again, we all had a blast! Great race today, Steve! Always a pleasure to take part in a well-planned event full of extras for your race dollar! Keep up the awesome job! Very big thanks to all of the volunteers who stood out in the rain and wind today to make this race such a great experience!
Thanks Steve for a great race, once again! Hey, how often do we get to run in the rain in Arizona? Great event, fun people, beautiful area, great volunteers! Thanks Steve, it was a fun morning! Thanks to all the volunteers and to Steve for putting this together! And my husband who was one of those grey bearded guys directing traffic.
Although I did not win as far as race results, the adrenaline, endorphins, and serotonin that these runs produce certainly makes me feel like a winner. The people I meet in these events have made some of the best friends I have. Thanks Steve and all the volunteers. It was a little damp and cold this year, but it beats hot and muggy in my book any day. The mountains are just so spectacular! I appreciate all of your efforts in making this event so great! The egg, bean, tortilla, salsa and smoothie breakfast is always such a wonderful thing to come back to at the end. It was certainly a crazy day to be out on the trail, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
It made that nice hot shower a little later all the better, too! My thanks to you and all the volunteers for making it such an enjoyable experience. I sure appreciated the friendly and cheerful folks there. That race was the most fun I have ever had with my running shoes on! Thank you so much for a well-run Catalina Park race. We especially want to thank the attitude of the support crew who stood in the cold and remained positive and encouraging to participants. Three of us drove from San Diego to experience this event and were so glad we did despite the weather.
Thanks again for organizing the great race. Actually I loved the light drizzle during the race—much better than a HOT day! Race was well organized and volunteers were very helpful to keep you on course. A unique experience; when do you get to run 10 miles of trails in Arizona in the rain? I like the extremes, it made this Midwest boy pretty happy I gotta tell you. Thanks for a great event, Steve! This was my first Everyoneruns event and I had a blast, despite the rain. I was fortunate enough to be in Tucson last weekend and able to participate in your race at Sabino Canyon. I would like to thank you for putting on such a wonderful event.
The people we came in contact with were all warm and friendly. The shirt, food, beverage were all wonderful.. Also — everything so well organized.. A lot of other race organizations could learn from you all how to put on a fabulous event. Thank you again — I hope to visit Tucson again and hope to participate in another race….
I plan on making that course one of my regular runs. Thanks for a great way to start a fall day. Your Sabino Canyon event this morning was great! Thanks for a very upbeat experience, those of us who volunteer at the Canyon love to see it put to good use. Somehow you manage to make everyone feel special and welcome, whether they are the fastest runners, or the old, slow walkers like me. Your kind words, hugs and encouragement mean a lot. Thanks to you and the wonderful volunteers for a fantastic, memorable day.
What a great event!! It was well organized, beautiful surroundings and the post-race atmosphere was amazing! Loved the breakfast eggs, tortilla, beans and salsa!
July 13, 2014
Definitely going to do it again next year! Six of us walked the race, and we all commented how well run it was, how lovely the scenery and what great fun we all had. Thank you for putting on another great event! It was especially nice to be greeted by the young cheerleaders- they were fantastic!
Another stellar and flawless event today — Thanks! I also have to say that your events attract a great cross section of people of all ages, all of whom are really great to meet, talk with and get to know. I realized more during packet pickup and talking to the people I met there that your races do have a following all of their own and I hope you realize that you are building a great community by putting on these events.
Anyway, all I can say to you and your family is…. Keep up the Great work! Just wanted to thank you guys for a great race at Sabino Canyon this morning! The only problem I saw was people leaving their children unsupervised at the starting area. One little girl found a rattle snake under a bush. That could have gone badly! I know there is probably little you can do directly about that, but I though I would let you know. By the way, the park staff were fantastic.
Everyone was very welcoming and excited. Great event all around!! Thank you for a great event this morning — I posted my comments on your Facebook page concerning the run. Renee has told me a lot about you and your runs. You guys do a fantastic job! Great morning, well organized, everyone having a good time!
It was great, Steve! Appreciate all the work you do and how friendly everyone is! Beautful place and run! Thank you for a wonderful race. Beautiful weather and scenery helped to make those killer hills much more manageable. Also, winning a gift cert for a massage before the race had even begun was an added bonus. Gab riel…Yes, for real for sure! Great start, course, finish and festivities.
Keep up the great work! The thing that impressed me the most about this morning was giving trophies to the last three finishers! Wow — who does that! Congratulations on an event that will get bigger as each year goes by. Well worth the 3am wake-up call! Love seeing everyone out there bright and early! Beautiful course — sunrise over the Tucson mountains is spectacular. Had a great time! Evelyn loved her first race…especially wearing her custom onesize: Thanks for making it so special! This will be an annual event for me!
I was happy I won before the race start. Great event as always Steve!!! Keep up the great job!!! Nothing but praise for another outstanding Everyone Runs Event! Stellar course, volunteers, pre and post race festivities, too much cool stuff to mention. Keep up the great work Steve and Family!!!
We really appreciate it! Steve, somehow you bring out the best in all of us. And the Pasqua Yaqui tribal officer at the turn around point was a great guy. What a fantastic event! I walked a personal best at 76 minutes. It was a beautiful venue and uncrowded, and offered a great opportunity to see the sun come up! Thanks for coordinating the event, it was awesome and much less crowded than the Catalina State Park event, where the venue was good but runners were handicapped by the single file bottlenecks in the trail.

Just wanted to thank you for a great race-enjoyed every minute. Hope you keep spreading such positive energy! I was running on Saturday and it was gorgeous! It was well organized and a lot of fun. Thank you very much for organizing! I have done this trail run twice now and was wondering whether there — hopefully — will be one in September again? Thanks for another great event Steve!!! Thats the toughest running race other than a full marathon that I have ever done!!! I am still hurting. I run the east Monument race and trails all the time and this race is tougher than that one!
Great venue and event. Glad I jumped in. I am planning on doing some more of your races. Congrats on putting on a great race. Great race, as always. The additional loop on the far side of the creek added even more steps and water crossings…cool! I have one suggestion, during an event such as this with many narrow tracks, iPods and MP3s should be banned. It was a wonderful day for the run. Steve, I wanted to let you know that I really loved the run this year. It was really challenging.
It even seemed more challenging than last year. I also, wanted to let you know about the Hydropouch. I did both cup and pouch. I even refilled rather easily. I just suggest that you hightlight it more by having the people near the station remind people about the hydrostation and possibly using a bright color on the water container or signage. Overall I really prefered it over the cups.
