Midway through the desperate effort to save the young woman's life, Olivia realizes who she is. And from that moment on, nothing is ever the same. Annie O'Neil is the innocent victim of a senseless crime. She is also the woman Olivia's husband, Paul is in love with.
And when Annie dies on the operating table, her death has a devastating effect on the lives of three people. For Paul, too, the lighthouse connects him to Annie, and he joins the fight to hold back the encroaching sea, as does Olivia, who is intent on becoming as much like Annie as possible.

Keeper of the Light (Kiss River #1) by Diane Chamberlain
Beautiful artist Annie O'Neill is known as St. Anne on North Carolina's Outer Banks for her selfless devotion to any cause that comes down the pike--she's even donated bone marrow to a stranger in need. Her murder leaves her husband, Alec, shattered. Also broken are Olivia Simon, the emergency room physician who tried to save her, and the good doctor's husband, Paul, who idolized the victim.
To recapture Paul's love, Olivia begins to emulate Annie in every way, from learning the craft of stained glass to being a good Samaritan. Readers will long to shake the physician, as lovesick Paul is not worth her efforts; this is a man who tells his wife that he can make love to her only if he pretends that she is Annie.

This one was not my favorite. So many of her books have such huge twists, secrets and turns in them, that when I get a book like this one, which did have a twist and secrets, but not a great ones , it's a bit disappointing. But what I like about Diane's style of writing, is that even though the book wasn't one of her best, I never considered once putting the book down.
Diane has such a way of writing that I will sit down to read for 10 minutes before bed, and the next thing I know, it's been sn hour and I am still reading. And if she can make me do that to just a so-so book, you can imagine what reading one of her better books is like. So while I don't rank this one higher than 3 stars, I plan to start the second book in the series tonight. I have come to believe Diane Chamberlain is not capable of writing a bad book. But I do admit to some of them having more or better twists and turns than others.
