Most books that deal with enlightenment or freeing ourselves of samsara , the suffering of life, basically tell the same story, a story that has been told for thousands of years. The nice thing is that they all have their own entrance point to this story, which makes this process more accessible. Jeff Foster is no exception. He has found a very simple, very radical way in, to tell us how we can let go of all the burdens of life. And because it is something he has gone through, he can draw from his own process of change to enlighten us.

All of a sudden we feel incomplete, because it seems that something is missing in our life, something seems to be broken.

What is The Deepest Acceptance?

We try to run away from how this part of our reality makes us feel, we become addicted to certain behaviors or substances or people that make us feel good again. An for a short time this tactic seems to work, but when it stops working, or when the addiction fall away, we feel even more incomplete and go looking for something else to take us away from this pain.

What basically happens is that we are fighting reality. Reality is reality, that which is, an authority which we cannot change! And by rejecting certain parts of it, something shifts inside of us so we lose our experience of wholeness, our connection with our inner being which is connected to everything else. What did you love best about The Deepest Acceptance?

Foster really addresses the core of the free life, acceptance, in a way that is accessible to the layman and practitioner a like. Spoken with a peaceful British accent, it's an inviting audio that reminded me to be gentle with myself and lured me into self-acceptance in a refreshing way.

The Meaning - Jim Carrey

That every situation, every emotion that comes up during the day, is just a wave in the ocean that is life. Resisting a situation or an emotion, is as futile as resisting a wave in the open water. Recognize every wave is a part of who I am, and accept what I'm feeling and going through, in the here and now. The audiobook seems repetitive to me.

Staff Review: The Deepest Acceptance by Jeff Foster

Seems like he's saying essentially the same thing many times over. It's a good message to hear though. So comforting to just be ok with everything as it is. Fear, pain, loneliness, doubt, everything is ok, allowable and acceptable. So reassuring and encouraging to just let be whatever is happening.

Helped add to my understanding of what acceptance truly is. Just be and acknowledge all feelings in life. I love listening to Jeff because I start to feel what he describes. A deep acceptance of all the waves that appear in the vast ocean. This is a wonderful feeling of safety-when the argument against what is arising is dropped. Whilst I understand the meaning it never covers how to accept the issues for bipolar depression, why does it take over the whole ocean and not just affects of the waves.

The teaching of this podcast is very deep but very simple. It does go on for a bit in circles, but that's necessary for the mind to break out of its stubborn trance. I would of enjoyed hearing more about overcoming trauma but one can apply the teaching in even accepting the pain of a traumatic experience and accepting the inability to know how to heal the trauma too.

I still have some questions, such as how to reframe present experience for someone processing trauma without coming off as victim-blaming. Content is worth 5 stars and I appreciate the different perspectives, metaphors and experiences Jeff Foster is sharing with us. However, I gave it 4 stars because of the many repetitions of central points he makes throughout the book. Repetitions of the important points is great for learning, but one too many is a stretch for me. Highly recommended book, especially the audiobook.
