They share some steamy scenes together. As this part ends, they have decided to throw their lot in together and see where the winds will take them. Nothing against the story or the writing, this just isn't my cup of tea. Feb 01, Vfields Don't touch my happy! I wanted to like this but there wasn't enough scene setting for me to loose myself in this story. Not enough to make me want to buy 2 and 3 of the series.
This whole of thing should have been one book to at least build momentum. Oct 04, Raj rated it really liked it. A good beginning to what should be an interesting journey! West's novella takes place when a soldier in the Roman army returns home to a fort on the Gaul-Germania border after it has been destroyed.
Little is said of Rome other than a reference to a new religion. Marcus grew up in rough fashion taken in by a blacksmith at a young age. A second boy who is younger Wolfram Wolf is taken in later. Wolf is the only obvious surviver in the area. Life in the area is wild, from real wolves to men willing to do anything to survive. What is interesting other than the developing relationship is how men reduced to having little cope with the situation. Jul 27, Sakuko rated it liked it Shelves: Not sure about this one. I felt it had pretty much no plot, the relationship just falls into place without much preliminaries, the setting seems like it could be pretty much anywhere which just a little tweaking.
It mostly just sex, start to finish, and before it's sex it's cock-comparison. The sex scenes are good, though, but I'd like a little more than that to sell me to a whole series. May 16, Silverluna rated it liked it. Jan 15, J rated it it was ok. A little too insta-lust. Mar 10, Sunny rated it it was amazing Shelves: And so glad the series is done and I don't have to wait for the next book.
I'm not a fan of the way the story is broken up into multiple parts. Inspirational A good story of friendship and love and becoming more than family. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance.

I can't recall when I downloaded this freebie from Amazon but I know it's been awhile - over a year. Initially judging from the cover , I didn't realize that this was historical in nature. I told myself that if the first 10 pages sucked, I would dnf it and move on. I was pleasantly surprised by it. The author created two very distinctive characters. Both were mentored as smiths but Marc moved on to serve as a soldier while Wolf stayed behind to refine his skills.

Their reunion was violent but as I can't recall when I downloaded this freebie from Amazon but I know it's been awhile - over a year. Their reunion was violent but as the story played out, it was sweet and hot to see their passions ignited for each other. The scene where Wolfe is bathing Marc was brilliant: I'm definitely going to read the next installments. May 20, Mary Devereaux rated it really liked it.

I'm so tired of novellas, especially when the stories are written so well and you're dragged in to them, finding you just want to wrap up in the arms of the MCs and stay there. Depending on the price of the second book, I'll be moving forward on the journey with Wolf and Marc. Seriously, though, this book is a must read. I Oh mah lawd! I was cranky off my book high when I wrote the review above. I still wish it'd been longer.
But I really sorta already love Wolf and Marc. Well done, Mia West. Awesome I absolutely love this book and the author who wrote it. The details are so vivid. It's slime being there. And wishing you were. The heros in the story are so rough and rugged. Manly men yet touching and soul searing they leave you breathless and longing for so much more. The tenderness they share in the face of all the danger they face let's you know that no matter what comes their way, as long as they have each other , they will power through and come out whole at the end. I can't wait Awesome I absolutely love this book and the author who wrote it.
I can't wait to see what adventures await them.
What Readers Are Saying…
So, I am off on the road with them in the next book I can no longer wait to read. This was a short quick read that I really didn't like the time period. I felt that the story was lacking some for me. When the western Roman Empire collapses into chaos, career soldier Marcus does the only thing that makes sense: The book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling it just felt that a lot of the story was missing for me. As it happens more and more often in indie fiction, what we have here is just the first -short- chapter of a longer story arbitrarily cut into short parts. This first part is free and -strangely enough- is comparatively self contained, but the following ones are quite pricey.
Despite several typos, writing is professional and very fluid. Characters are likeable if not very well rounded and the many sex scenes are nearly tolerable. Is this enough to purchase the following chapters for the price? No As it happens more and more often in indie fiction, what we have here is just the first -short- chapter of a longer story arbitrarily cut into short parts. May 07, Katherine rated it really liked it. It was really good. But it's a serial. Not a book 1, but a part 1.

No major cliffhanger, but you have to buy all the books to get a complete story. If this had been one long book, I would have rated it higher. Jun 17, Hot Reading Mom rated it did not like it Shelves: Not enough for me. Hmm Lacked depth from the characters. The outline for the story was good but I just didn't feel as though it ever developed.
A quick, spicy, historical read. This is the first book in a series about Marcus and Wolf. It ends in a good place, not exactly a cliffy but there are loose ends. His hands still trembled. The bones under his hands felt durable, reliable, and Wolf was grateful for them. Removing the cloth, he dug into the soap jar and rubbed it between his palms to soften it further.
Instead he drew them away and wiped them on the wet cloth. Wolf took up the razor. Eyes dark as roasted chestnuts bore into him for a few seconds before Marc closed them. The strokes created clean stripes, one after another, with only one small nick. Wolf dabbed it with soap and moved on to the hard eave of the jaw. Soap clouded the pan of water. Bristly hair floated on the surface and coated the cloth Wolf used to wipe the razor clean. Marc opened his eyes and watched the hearth as Wolf worked.
Compliance and Control
At any rate, Wolf hesitated, forgot what he should do next. Marc looked from one eye to the other and then pulled his lips into his mouth. The movement presented Wolf with smoother surfaces to shave and spurred him back into motion. He could feel Marc watching him as keenly as if the man were touching his face. Marc let his lips emerge again. Unobscured by beard, they looked full, a plush contrast to the harder angles of the bones under his skin. The shave had revealed a long, narrow scar down his left cheek.
Those full lips parted, and the chest beneath rose on a breath.
See a Problem?
Wolf focused on the lips, on the dark space between them, willing it to happen, and then it did: It left behind a sheen of saliva that made the lip look like a piece of summer fruit. Wolf leaned forward and licked it. Wolf dipped his head and licked it away as well.
