TechSmith Academy offers you free video courses. Lighting Your Video , walks you through the entire process. Consider the natural lighting entering through windows and casting shadows — be wary that weather can change quickly. Natural lighting can change in an instant if the sun decides to hide behind clouds, and for video this can be a big issue as lighting changes from shot to shot. The best shooting environment is one in which you have as much control over lighting as possible.
At TechSmith we have a drawer full of cheap clamp lights. Unfortunately, lack of dimming control and diffusion can lead to harsh lighting. There are a few types of lighting to be aware of as well.

So when working with clamps lights, we highly suggest using some type of diffusion material. These lights can also be bounced off a surface like a wall, ceiling, or reflector to create soft light, which is infinitely preferable to blinding your subject and creating an unflattering image. These studio lighting kits commonly use large florescent lights and include effective diffusion material.
2. Make lighting more flexible.
Kits with included light stands are much better for quickly setting up lighting, and generally provide higher total light output. These lights often have a few switches on the back to control the number of lit bulbs, which provides a greater level of control over your total output. If shooting video is something you plan to do on a regular basis, it may be worth the investment. The most common setup for lights is called 3 point lighting. This configuration consists of a key light, a fill light, and a backlight which can also be called a hairlight. The key light should be brightest of the three and provides the bulk of light to your subject.
The fill light eliminates shadows caused by the key light. Most of us don't think much about lighting so long as we have enough to easily see what we're doing.
The hidden superpowers of smart lights
But poor workplace lighting--which is not the same as dim lighting--can cause headache, neck soreness, and even double vision. It's worth taking a few moments to think about your workplace lighting, since a few relatively minor adjustments can make a big difference to your well-being and even your productivity.
Here are some steps to consider. It turns out most of us don't know what level of lighting is good for us. For instance, if the hallway outside your office is more lit up than the office itself, you might start to feel like the office isn't bright enough even though the level of brightness is the same as it's always been. On top of that, we have a tendency to think that when it comes to lighting, more is better.
Too much light creates 'disability glare' which makes it more difficult to see things as opposed to allowing us to see more clearly. The science of how temperature and lighting impacts our productivity Drake Baer covers leadership for Fast Company. You can follow him on Twitter.
