This book had me laughing out loud! The humor kinda reminded me of the book, Agent to the Stars by John Scalzi. I enjoyed every second I spent reading this book. I started to feel weird and grossed out when I first started liking the Hunters but they came through in the end. Ravail came a long way from being a scared kid to a woman who could mouth off to Rake! The last scenes were hilarious— everybody ended up in space. I am so glad I stumbled upon this gem on Goodreads. The premise of aliens, Earth and a war caught my attention initially. I had no idea what I was in for. Looking for adventure, adrenaline, sex, lust and romance with a dash of humor? Town has packed it all into Wa Wow! Town has packed it all into Wastes of Space. I refuse to give details on the plot because I will not give away anything. The construction of the novel works well with the plot line and everything is revealed exactly as it should be. I admit that at least for the beginning, the build up is slow and gradual in filling in these gaps in information.

This could bother some people, but let me tell you the novel is worth sticking with. You will not be disappointed. You get thrown into this strange new world that is somehow different but at the same time very familiar. It is filled with a wide variety of all these people and you get so little information about what is going on with them or why they do what they are doing. But I loved the way the author began introducing little snippets of information about her characters and where the story line could go. The cast of characters are very well drawn.

I fell in love with all of them You can find the entire review at my blog: Nov 19, Carin rated it really liked it. Darcy Town takes on the sci-fi establishment with a twist of her own and makes a male dominated genre more female friendly by added a dash of romance. Wastes of Space is a well rounded story that has aliens, battling empires and a bonded hero and heroine. While not generally a fan of dystopian plot lines, Wastes of Space had me reeled in from the beginning and gripped in the story of Ravil and Rake keeping me up until I finished it. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Another cracking could not put down read - Where is the next one!!!!! I adore the world building of this author - super character developement as well What more could you ask for. Cannot wait to get Wastes Away - Hurry Darcy Want to party with Rake, Ravil and co again.. This book is hands down awesome! Large, diverse, fun cast with sexy people and aliens , laugh out loud scenes, action that makes you sit on the edge of your seat and questionable sexual situations are the perfect recipe for entertaining reading!

Aug 17, Andrea rated it really liked it Shelves: I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway. Although the book is a bit crude, it does help the character development of Rake. I found the story a bit slow at first but it sped up quickly after pages or so. Overall, I enjoyed this book. Nov 09, Dave Haigler rated it did not like it. I did not enjoy this book. Graphic descriptions, gross immorality, very discouraging. Not at all enlightening or encouraging. Sci-fi scenarios are imaginative and new.

Nov 19, Tiffany rated it really liked it Shelves: All the characters were highly developed which I highly enjoyed and they were unique in their own way. I also liked how it switched between Rake, Ravil, and the hunters. It kept you in the know and you knew what was going on. There were a lot of moments where I was like what in the world just happened. I never knew what was going to happen next. I know it added the story but really fishnet stocking and a skirt You have to read the story to find out.

It was just really random and unexpected and I liked most of them. Also let me tell you that the author held nothing back. She was not afraid to tell it like it is.

No one is perfect but we all have a conscience. Rake was a prime example. This book just kept me my toes. It also kept me up until 5 in the morning. I was addicted like rake with his drugs. Ravil she was a likable character. In the beginning she was a real winy baby. Well most of the story she was.

She always had to have someone save her. At the end she finally started to stand up for herself and get a backbone. Rake he was a real piece of work. He was beyond words. He was I guess you could call it a male hooker. He had sex for money so that he could buy his drugs. He decided to change his tune and IDK if that is a good thing. See reference to skirt. Although he had his faults he was a really good guy. I really started to like hi at the end of the book.

I feel like I just read "War and Peace", sort of This review is of all four of the first four installments in this series: And turned ou I feel like I just read "War and Peace", sort of And turned out well in the end. The installments in this series are LONG reads. In this series, the story, action, and characters are allowed to develop slowly and thoroughly. Some people complain about this in other reviews.

Even I found the start of 4 dragging a bit. But generally speaking, I consider this to be a Very Good Thing when all the other elements line up to make it a good book: A variation on "you can't get enough of a good thing" I guess In several respects, though, the story came up just a little bit short of five stars.

Waste Not, Want Not

The writing, while very good, was not THAT special. While interesting, the story felt a bit pedestrian throughout most of the book. I will read the next installment. In the "worth mentioning" department: One gets the feeling there is an agenda here. May 29, James rated it liked it. Needing supplies for repairs, the crew decides the best course of action is to raid abandoned Ampyr outposts for gear. Smart, no Barely making it off Seed Planet Fifteen with their lives, Rake and the crew are content to hang out and lick their wounds for a while, if it weren't for the fried wiring and Stalker damage that have left the ship prone to reoccurring blackouts.

Smart, no foreseeable problems there. Except one of the outposts they hit isn't empty, Lincoln's personality issues are getting worse, food is going missing, and their Rexos is about to hit puberty and apparently that's accompanied by uncontrollable rages. As if that wasn't enough bad news, there seems to be a sentient black hole chasing down Ravil and attempting to eat her. But not to worry, Danny's reforming their squad and apparently ranking still flies out in space.

No more messing around, things are getting serious.
