Reaper knows he should tell Caroline the truth if there's any hope of her ever forgiving him. He never imagined himself as the type of man that could have a stable, committed relationship, not with how he grew up, and especially not with all he's done and what's he's become because of it. But he's started hoping, picturing a future with Caroline, and honestly, it scares him.
Plus, he knows doing so eventually condemns he and his men to death as they need the serum Caroline can provide. What happens when Caroline learns the truth about Reaper's plans for her? Can he ever regain her trust? Can Reaper convince Caroline his love for her is real? Will Caroline ever be free of the threat of becoming a prisoner again for her blood? Will Reaper and his men get the serum they need? If so, will it be enough? Will Reaper and Caroline be able to start their future together?
Or will they always be looking over their shoulders, waiting for the past to find them? One-click now and follow along as two people, both in difficult situations, find a love that makes life worth fighting for. When I first started to read this book by Ms. Cross because I admire her sexy military alpha romance books and have read almost all of them.
This one had a bit of a paranormal twist to it but a twist that could almost be real that despite it the story is still pretty believable. Unfortunately Project Mayhem also has unforeseen consequences turning Reaper and his team dependent on the serum. Can Reaper use Caroline to save him and his men or will love get in the way?
Caroline was really a pretty strong admirable heroine despite her innocence. I wanted her several times to hit Reaper knocking some sense into him but the chemistry was very hot between them that in reality they were good for each other. I can highly recommend this book for any military romance lover because they will just love it even with the slight paranormal aspect in it!
Reaper was one of Jack Mankel's test subjects for Project Mayhem and now he needs to get serum before the rest of his men die without it. Caroline Cotter has been used as a pawn and hostage since being kidnapped and is now being held by her ex-fiance General Ranier. She is being poked and prodded and has no idea what is happening to her or why people want her.
When Reaper rescues Caroline he does so with a purpose but now the two are being tracker through the South Sudan by Ranier's m Captain T. When Reaper rescues Caroline he does so with a purpose but now the two are being tracker through the South Sudan by Ranier's men who want them both back. As Caroline and Reaper get closer they realize their attraction for each other but when something happens that could affect all of Reaper's men will he leave Caroline? This is one of my favorite series and I must admit I am so tied in emotionally with all these characters since the first book.
Like so many others this one left me hanging with what is going to happen next as there is so much at stake for Reaper's men. I loved seeing Reaper in this book as it is a different side of him due to what happened with Mankel. He was chemically altered to be a super soldier but he has feelings and he begins to realize how much he cares for Caroline as they trek through the jungle together. Yet we see that other side of him with Caroline's mistake.
Caroline has been used and tossed around from one captor to another while her blood is being analyzed. I don't think she has a clue what is going on and I felt bad that she had no idea what happened to her dad while she was taken. I love how hard she fights to keep up with Reaper and I felt so bad at how she was treated after her mistake as that was not her intention at all. The passion between Caroline and Reaper was super hot!! I am super curious to see where things are going due to what has happened with Dr. I was not expecting that to happen at all and now I am really nervous at what is going to happen and who is going to be in Ranier's line of fire now!!
Eagerly waiting for the next book!! Jul 20, Jennifer Pierson rated it it was amazing. Reaper only cares about his men, and feels huge guilt for getting them into the Project Mayhem mess they are in. He's lived his whole life without love, so he truly believes that he's unworthy for it. His whole world is turned upside down when he rescues a woman that can keep his team alive. They are forced to go on the run, as if they are caught, more than just the two of them are in t Lord have mercy, my heart is STILL racing, and I finished Mayhem's Warrior a couple of hours ago!
They are forced to go on the run, as if they are caught, more than just the two of them are in trouble, his whole team will die. Caroline Cotter was a spoiled Senator's daughter, until she becomes a victim of her ex finance's crazy scheme. She's been kidnapped, and held against her will to make the serum that makes up Project Mayhem, until Reaper enters, and rescues her. They have to flee from the dangerous jungle, government officials, and armies that will do anything for the right price.
Somewhere along the way, she develops feelings for Reaper, and although he swore he would keep his distance, that all comes crumbling down when he can't fight his attraction to Caroline.
Mayhem's Warrior
Caroline and Reaper are great together, even though he made some questionable decisions that had me wanting to choke him out. The fast paced story line kept my heart racing cover to cover, and yet, I was still left with wanting more. Lindsay Cross is simply brilliant with her talented writing style, as I'm highly addicted to her work, and can never get enough. Her diabolical twists and turns had me dropping loud f-bombs like a crazy woman, and although she ended their story, I'm still left with more questions!

This book is the first in the Operation Mayhem series and ends in an HEA for the 2 main characters, but the plot continues. This book is the first in the series, yet a lot must have happened in a previous series. Reaper is a genetically enhanced super soldier that was tricked into joining the program. Now his life is dependent upon an evil doctor and a power hungry general. Caroline is kidnapped and her blood is being drained against her will. A little backstory would have been appreciated.
Without the serum Reaper and his team will die. He discovers Caroline, knows who she is and decides to save her. Reaper is all soldier and there are some light moments when he realizes Caroline may be bothered by all of the carnage surrounding her escape. The descriptions are vivid, causing a lot of suspense.

Reaper really struggles with his reality and his feelings with Caroline, which is awesome. I am giving the book 4 stars. I loved how the tables turned and Caroline had to save Reaper. Mayhem's Warrior (Operation Mayhem, #1) by Lindsay Cross
What will Reaper ulitmately choose - Caroline or his loyalty to his team? Mayhem's Warrior was full of twists and turns, an action packed adventure that was woven with a developing love story that left me panting for more. Reaper's guilt was palpable and you could feel how much his team meant to him and how he wished he hadn't gotten them involved in the project.
His torn feelings about Caroline also added a lot of impact to the story. Linsday Cross delivered a story that kept the hits coming, but also showed a deep connection between not just Reaper and Caroline but Reaper and his team. She wrote a story that hooked me from the start and left me rooting for the good guys, while working through evyerthing they endured. It was captivating to see how it all played out. Caroline has no idea what has been going on in the outside world, she has no idea if her dad is dead or alive. There are some secondary characters in this book that I would love to read about so I hope Ms Cross intends on writing their stories There is a Dr mentioned in this book that I would love to read more about Can Caroline understand why Reaper needs her blood so much or will it be the one thing that ends them? Mayhem Warrior is a rollercoaster ride of testosterone driven evil generals, power hungry doctors, and two innocent victims trying to survive Cross has taken T. K Reaper and Carolyn and written a story worthy of them both.

A man that believed in the system that he protected with his life thinking he was doing right by making his team stronger and better. Carolyn abducted and imprisoned for years used as a guinea pig for her blood in medical experiments. Character development and story lines could not have been any better.
This book was written with such impeccable detail and true love for these characters that I could not put it down. With the horror of their pasts Reaper and Carolyn could have been unemotional, uptight robots but Cross wrote them with humor and survivors instinct.
Each only half a person because they lost so much but together they become an unbreakable unit. The back story and secondary characters played a very strong part in Reaper and Carolyn's story as it progressed. The emotional attachment I felt to both characters shocked the hell out of me and made me appreciate their HEA ending so much more. The Mayhem series deserves loyal readers as much as the Men of Mercy series. I cannot wait for the next installment Jul 14, Diane rated it it was amazing. As Reaper and Caroline run for their lives through the jungles of Southern Sudan they witness the brutality and unbelievable bravery of innocents caught in the crossfire between two warring factions which exponentially magnifies the danger that Reaper and Caroline face.
I was totally impressed with the survival skills of our emotionally tortured hero and the realistically detailed blood-and-guts scenario that put me right in the middle of the action, but I was even more impressed by the emotional human factor of the story that grabbed me by the heart and wouldn't let me go. Caroline's remarkable ability to lock the nightmare of her captivity in a box in her mind leaves her clearheaded enough to actively participate in their escape which elevates her character to superhero status in my estimation.
She also confesses her absolute faith in Reaper and his moral integrity at a highly critical point in the story when he has totally lost faith in himself as a man. What an amazing adventure! I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own. Still the same action, adventure and romance but our heroes this time around have been experimented on and their DNA "tweaked", giving them all a few little added extra gifts. Caroline may be a bit of a princess and her previous entitled existence is now a distant memory. Led to safety by Reaper, she quickly realises there is more to the giant warrior and falls under his spell. As they evade Grenier the passion ignites between them and there are some very hot scenes! Great start to a new series and can't wait to see what the dastardly Grenier gets upto next - talk about Machiavellian plans!!!

He kidnaps her to get what he wants. Now that Reaper and his men have escaped, Reaper goes back to free Caroline, as she is their only hope at survival.
In their days of life threatening travel to escape, they build a bond. The first emotional bond for Reaper who hasn't had the love of family outside of his team brothers. The first physical bond for Caroline, who comes from the wealthy family of a US Senator. Can these two find more than sizzling chemistry in the jungle and after they make it back to the USA? Jul 20, Pat rated it it was amazing. Reaper only has one mission - get more serum for his men so that they do not die. As he attempts to get the serum he discovers the whereabouts of Caroline the host by which the serum is made. Reaper decides that he is rescuing her from her captivity, but it is only because he can use her blood to make more serum. Imagine his surprise when he starts to care for her. That throws a huge wrench into his plans. Add to this, that despite the horrible conditions of her captivity, Caroline is a strong and fearless woman and you have one great story!
Will Reaper stick to his original plan to use her? What will Caroline think and do if or when she finds out that he did not really come to rescue her at the bequest of her father?
