When Winnie the Witch decides to grow vegetables in her garden, she gets more than she bargained for - giant beanstalks, colossal cabbages, and an enormous pumpkin perched on her roof! But what can Winnie do with her huge pumpkin when only the shell is left? Prepared to be amazed! Even Winnie likes and eats her vegetables. Jun 28, Hannah Burgess rated it it was amazing. To solve the problem of her vegetables falling off her broom she decides to grow her own vegetables at home but as they are taking too long she casts a spell on the plants and they grow to an enormous size! The stories are really good, but the illustration and detail is outstanding - and I think that is a big draw for my children. In this book Winnie takes to gardening and growing her own veg - although she doesn't think that her wand is working properly - so she goes inside.
Big mistake - the veg is growing and it becomes enormous! So enormous a giant cabbage blocks the door trapping her inside the house, so she has to use a giant beanstalk to climb out of the window. Winnies favorite vegetable is pumpkin, and that's good because there is a giant one on the top of her house One Winnie has made everything she can out of the pumpkin, she invites people round to play in the pumpkin.
She makes it into a house Which is a different way to travel than by broom!
My son loves the pumpkin helicopter most of all and lives to imagine what he would make the pumpkin shell into! Lovely books, great imagination, would definitely recommend! Our favourite Halloween story about winne the witch.
