Dec 27, Mary rated it it was amazing. I really enjoyed each of these stories because they were so different from one another. They each had their own time period, setting, and story-line. Each was a very good read within it's self! Glad I happened upon this at the library! Jul 29, Amanda rated it it was ok.

This is a re-read, I first read this collection when it was published.

The Girl Without a Phone - a Snow White Story

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mar 20, Anna Mcfadden rated it liked it. Nov 22, Anne Marie rated it liked it. Overall, this book was good, and I liked that more stories were set in the present time. The first story, The Teacher, was not what I expected. Set in the s, Kathryn is running away with her son Jeremy to hide from Jeremy's father who is out to get them for kidnapping and attempted murder still don't know who she was trying to murder They wind up in a town in Colorado where finally after a long drawn out court case, Kathryn teaches Cole's son Zachary his studies by brib Overall, this book was good, and I liked that more stories were set in the present time.

They wind up in a town in Colorado where finally after a long drawn out court case, Kathryn teaches Cole's son Zachary his studies by bribing him with clean clothes and good food. Of course Cole and Kathryn fall in love throughout the ordeal, and in the end, everything is back to perfect when Cole finds out Jeremy's mean, revengeful, rich father is dead. Kathryn is pregnant with Cole's child, and Jeremy will get a great inheritance of an estate in Ireland from his father.

Christmas can now be celebrated six months later since Kathryn and Jeremy ran away. Christmas Magic was the best story out of these love-story-Christmas-novels so far! I loved that it was set in the present, and I loved how it wasn't the perfect far fetched story, even though it had perfect scenarios. Kim dreams of finding the right guy, and it just so happens she does, under the unfortunate incident her father is in the hospital having surgery due to a heart attack. She meets Tony, her father's doctor, and a love story begins.

Jolly Holly is probably the most "Christmasy" out of all the short stories from these romance books I've read. I liked that John wasn't a perfect rich guy. I liked the idea of a 'Jolly Holly Contest,' seeing who can pick the most holly berries to decorate a tree in town. But it got far fetched when the person running the contest is Santa. It is obvious the grand prize wouldn't be monetary, and it turned out to be actual love birds. But that was fine since John and Isabel turn out to be love birds themselves and start a life together finding oil and making lemon goodies.

If Only in My Dreams was a great story! It was one of the few stories that I didn't want to put down. Even though Cale is divorced with twin boys, it made sense in the story to have at least him be in a past relationship. The ghost of Elizabeth bringing Cale and Quinn together was a bit far fetched, but it was interesting how Quinn and her family can still visit their great-great grandmother's cabin.

So because of a misunderstanding, Cole and Quinn did not get married 12 years ago because they met at the wrong places, thinking they were stood up.

Upon a Midnight Clear

When they get stranded in Cale's cabin during a snowstorm, they lean the truth of what happened and realize they never stopped loving each other. Hope is stranded in her cabin with her dog during a blizzard when a snow covered almost frozen Price shows up. They have instant chemistry, but as time goes on, and Hope hears the news on the radio, she learns there is an escaped prisoner on the loose.

Another man, Clinton, shows up and a fight takes place. The phone lines come back up, and even though all fingers are pointed to Price being the bad guy, he was telling the truth all along and is the deputy. But then why were his clothes too small? Jan 11, Princess Thuy rated it really liked it. I liked this book just fine. Some stories I liked more than the other but overall it was a sweet collection of stories. The Teacher by Jude Deveraux was a western set probably in the early 19th century I'm guessing.

Cute story about a woman on the run with her son trying to hide out from her son's father's rich family. She ends up taking a job as a teacher for a man's young hellion of a son in Legend, Colorado. Kim, an artist, is estranged from her hotshot surgeon father, but when he becomes ill she heads home to see him and meets her father's heart surgeon and finds unexpected love in Tony, a man who appear to be just like her father and the last type of man she thought she'd be interested in.

Have no idea where that was in the past, some place near Ventura from what I've read in the story. Another cute story about two independent people who don't trust one another but must work together to win a holly berry picking contest. Of course along the way they learn to trust and love experience the magic of Christmas. But when an unexpected winter storm has them stranded together in a cabin in the mountains, both find a way to a second chance at love. Hope owns a resort with some cabins in Idaho where she usually lives and runs the place with her dad.

Her dad is away, a blizzard comes, and an unexpected man ends up on her doorstep nearly frozen to death.

Am extremely happy to have only paid a dollar and left it in the seat pocket for the next bored reading rider. I know people look down on the whole romance genre but I truly believe romance houses some of the best authors writing today. However, I realized while reading that I've limited myself to what I consider the best authors for quite a while now.

In a metal tube in the sky, I pretty much had to Short holiday romances. In a metal tube in the sky, I pretty much had to make do with the mainstream muck. And wow, but not wow in the good way. The book was a second hand novel that are missing a couple of it pages. Its a five stories in a book and among them are my favourites. Jul 08, Holly rated it really liked it Shelves: I only re-read the Linda Howard story, White Out, this time around. She can make the most implausible situations work so well!

A woman alone in a blizzard helps out a man stranded in the elements, they have sex and fall in love in a night? That totally shouldn't work. And yet it does. Howard pulled me in and had me buying into the whole crazy thing right from the start. If you haven't already, I recommend you check it out. Mar 04, Anna rated it liked it. Really probably a 2. Pleasant stories for the most part; some were just silly. Plus I love anthologies. My favorite stories in this one were the ones by Mariah Stewart whom I had not read before and Linda Howard.

Aug 02, Dana rated it it was ok Shelves: Not a fan of anthologies, I only read this one because LH was on the cover. I should have just passed it up, or threw my money in the garbage. Five short stories 5! Pretty horrible writing, nothing exciting, tired story lines, blah. I give it a craptastic 2 stars. I'm being generous with my two stars only because it's Christmas.

I'm not one for romance reads but I love cheesy holiday stories so I gave this a shot. I was sorely disappointed, these are short stories and I mean short! There was tons of character backgrounds but then it was "wham bam thank you ma'am" the end Dec 05, Laura rated it liked it Shelves: Nov 26, Jessie rated it did not like it Shelves: I only read the first story of 5 from this book.

It was an okay story but there was quite a bit of sexual induendo. That is why I chose not to continue to read. Also it wasn't much of a Christmas story at all.
