In the Bradley story, the sisters are twins. I found a description: Lovely Sophia Forest was a very intellectual young lady for the year in Regency England--quite different from her beautiful and flighty sister, Daphne. All London was agog when Sophia rather than Daphne wed the dashing Earl of Gresham, whose scorn for bookish females was well-known. The marriage was intended as a business arrangement only--to preserve the Earl's fortune and give Sophia financial independence. But what was Sophia to do when she found herself enamoured of her husband, though too proud to admit it?
Sophia needed all her wit and womanly wiles in a game of pretense and passion, to make the man she loved, love her. We'll see if it's the right one. Candle in the Window by Christina Dodd? It's original copyright date was Oct 2, , Feb 9, , 8: Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me find the names of two books I read some years ago. I believe they were published around always before August I believe they are from British authors. They are both romances. One has a yellow cover with little cakes or cupcakes - I don't recall on them. She shares her house with some friends.
The book is really funny. Funny Valentine by Amy Jenkins - it has no cakes or cupcakes in the cover however my mind must be playing tricks on me. The other one has a light blue cover and I don't remember the story that well. I do know that in the end, the guy gives the girl a unique rose that he himself well, his company I guess created by matching 2 types of roses. In this last one, I just remembered that in the beginning, the girl is trying some clothes in a shop and afraid of a bee runs topless through the shop and bumps into the guy.
Well, I know it's not much, but if anyone could help, I'd be very grateful. Thank you very much. I love that you guys have this section. New here, so please bear with me. I also think she had a girlfriend who runs a local bookshop. I know it isn't much to go on, but every time I think I may be remembering more of the story I start to think I'm combining two stories into one. It's driving me batty. Nyah99 -- yellow cover with possible cupcakes reminds me of He Loves Lucy by Susan Donovan , but I'm not sure that's your book.
This one takes place in Miami? The heroine has a goal to lose weight for publicity with the hero being her trainer. I've read that one, but I can't remember what it is -- I want to say maybe something by Julia Quinn? Not one of the Bridgertons I'll dig around a bit and see if I can come up with a title. Thank you so much both of you. Thank you for your help. I've just found the name of the other book. First of all, its cover is not blue, but white. It could be Amanda Quick, though I still can't seem to place it.
And it seems like she has several with trading places type themes. I'll keep digging thru her stuff and see, though I appreciate you still looking as well. The Duke's grandfather corresponds with the heroine and carries on the courtship. Grandpa dies and when grandson comes back from the war, he finds out he is engaged to her. Grandson goes to confront her, she thinks he is the new footman she has hired and the story then continues. It's pretty funny actually. In that book, the hero is disguised as the heroine's butler.
He is a spy and the powers that be believe that her deceased husband had something of importance he was a spy too. There is also a Julia Quinn where the hero shows up and pretends to be her estate manager or something similar. She's the impoverished daughter of an earl or something similar who is working as a paid companion to a crotchety old lady who's nephew is a Marquis posing as her estate manager to get to the bottom of who is blackmailing her.
Very funny and entertaining! Oddly, I have missed all of those and will now be reading those to see if maybe I've just lost my entire peas sized brain and maybe DID actually read one of those. Hopefully it'll come to me soon as it's still tickling the back of my mind constantly. Very sad I tell you. I'm pretty sure its a historical romance but all i remember is that the hero if the book is sold at an auction. He is bought by a woman for her daughter. I don't remember the name or the author of the book. I have a vague memory of one like that as well, but can't quite place it. I need some help with a book title too, It's a historical romance and the lady poses as a highwayman to take cre of the estate.
The lady also posed as an ugly crone on the night their supposed meeting. Not quite sure this fits the bill but My Lady Notorius by Jo Beverley has a highwayman heroine with a cruel father and brother. She is trying to protect her widowed sister and baby who the father is trying to marry off to some awful man. The book is part of the Malloren series and takes place in Georgian England. The one you describe sounds familiar too but so far it's escaping me!
I'm looking for a book that's been bugging me for about a month now. I don't know the title or author or character names. I think the "hero" is from a well-known, well-off family. I know the "heroine" is from a poor family. She has red hair. I'm not sure if she has an older brother or dad. I remember the first chapter or so clearly, but not sure if the rest when they're older is correct or from another story. I think the two sisters were off to the store I think the sister was hitting on the guy Sadly, that's all I remember. I keep thinking Linda Howard, but I just don't know Thank-you for any help you guys can give.
I will try my best to do the same. Jul 12, , 7: I cannot believe how I could have overlooked that! I had a feeling it might've been Linda Howard Hi Suge, I tried to read all the threads and it doesn't look as if anyone had named your book, but I have the answer! It was one of the first romance novels I ever owned and one I go back to and reread every now and then!
GoodReads has a good description of the books back cover: Hi, all--I'm trying to find a certain book. It was out in paperback before probably well before that. The setting is definitely 19th century or earlier nobility, etc. I remember two main things about it: If any of you can help, it would be much appreciated! Isisreads, if you reverse the order of the scenes with the library later than the inn , there are two scenes very similar to what you've described in Judith Ivory 's Untie My Heart.
It's my least favourite Ivory book but lots of other people absolutely love it. Of course, an inn and a library are kind of popular settings for historical romance, so any other details you can supply might help readers here pinpoint the book you're looking for. I'm looking for a book I read around 5 or 6 years ago so let's say for starters that I picked up at a book sale at the local library. So it had probably been around for a while before that. The setting of the novel is I believe in a sort of system similar to 19th or 18th century England where there were still nobles around that controlled estates and whatnot.
Additionally, fine carriages and at least unsophisticated firearms were around too if I remember correctly. The plot revolves around a heroine named Kate or something similar - I want to say her full name was Kathleen or Katherine or something along those lines who has gotten stuck with running the family estate because her brother, who should be in charge, is incompetent and doesn't really do anything.
At the same time she's riding around in dark clothes on a black horse, holding up stagecoaches for some odd reason. It had to do with the family honor - I want to say she was looking to catch smugglers or something along those lines? Don't remember too well. But she's holding up these coaches looking for something.
Now a gentleman from somewhere else visits the estate for a bit for some reason or another and love begins to spark between him and Kate don't remember his name, sorry.
Broken Soldier
He begins to deduce that she's the highwayman in question and follows her one night when she makes a run. Things go wrong on this trip and she gets shot by a guy in the carriage but the gentleman saves her and brings her back to her home. He then covers for her in order to make sure no one else found out about her double life. Near the end of the story Kate finds that some of her brother's friends one creepy guy in particular who keeps on hitting on her are performing some criminal activity on the family land. She gets captured and the gentleman goes to save her, killing the ringleader in a duel.
So yeah sorry there aren't too many specific details but that's what I remember from the book. Hope someone can help me find it - even a couple of general titles that might fit the profile would help! Gasharko, I don't know the name of the book you seek although it sounds tantalizingly familiar but this list of "highwayman" themed regencies, which includes stories with women in male bandit disguise, might help you find what you're looking for: Highwaymen themed romances at The Nonesuch.

Hi Guys, I am new to this group, and I was hoping to get some help finding a book i read around It is basically about a temporary housekeeper or a helper who is 8 months pregnant, and you later find out that she is a virgin.
The owner of the house who is a businessman, ends up falling in love with her. I think in the scene that she tells the hero that she is a virgin is where she is getting made fun off by local boys, as she is young and seen as easy because she winds up pregnant. She is actually a surrogate for her sister and her husband, but both die in an accident leaving her alone. To take care of herself and the child, she gets this temp job. I believe she is Italian. He also helps her give birth to the child in his house, which i think is a girl.
The last scene is of them getting married, and she is walking down the aisle, looking at the baby and thinking about everything. I have been trying to recall this book for a long time but as it is one of the first ones I read, I don't remember more about it. Any of you feel that way while looking for a book? I was searching through vintageromances. You said you read the book in the early 's so I've only been looking for books in that time frame, but could it also have been published in the 's? Also, is there anything you remember about the cover, such as color maybe?
It is possible it was published in the late 90s. I was thinking the cover had yellow and blue on it Nov 18, , 6: Pregnant female butler 8-months along. The book summary doesn't mention surrogacy, but the term did show up two times when I searched for that term in Google Books. XD The heroine is a surrogate for her aunt and uncle though. Yea I had a feeling the summary wouldn't mention surrogacy, but I was wrong about the sister and husband. Thank you so much!
Once i saw the cover, I realized I have seen it before. Let me know if you need help finding a book, I'll be sure to return the favour. Dec 11, , My name is Florecer and I am a new member of this group. First let me answer the question of Nyah99, the post number 84 about the last novel: Here a leave the book description. He cannot honorably deny them, but he won't be forced into marriage. Encountering a respectable governess in scandalizing circumstances, Gareth demands her help—to make him entirely ineligible. He educates the buttoned-up Miss Jessica Gifford in the courtesan's arts. But Gareth hasn't bargained on such an ardent, clever pupil—or on his passionate response to her!
He wanted to cause a stir—it seems they are about to brew a scandal! The list the list in the correct order is: Now is my turn to have a question. I am looking for a book whose name and author I can not remember.

The plot was somthing like this: This man promises to free one of the sisters if the other promises to stay with him. One of them grants the motion and gradually discovers that the villain has a noble heart. I read the description when I was looking for other books to read, but never wrote down the data of this book to read next. If any of you could tell me the name of the book or author, I am very grateful for your help. Okay, I read this book several years ago, and can't remember what the title or author is.
Its a Regency romance. The main female lives in the slums of England. I don't really remember who the hero was, he was an earl or something i think, and he takes her in and makes her over. But near the end of the book I think they have a fight and she returns to the slums just as a cholera outbreak hits. She has a prostitute friend who dies and because she then catches cholera as well, she loses the baby she was pregnant with. I don't know the book and really want to read it again.
She is English but she grew up in the Paris slums. The Earl seeks her out for revenge complicated plot and then agrees to marry her back in England. They have a short lived blissful time but then have a big disagreement she learns the truth about him and she goes back to Paris and the slums.

There is a cholera epidemic there after she leaves him in England. I think she did lose a baby, but I can't remember for sure. It was a really good book. He has a scarred face and this is the last of a trilogy of brothers. Woohoo, a success story! Yay for a happy ending! I never know these, which is weird because I've read so many romances.
Hi,I m looking for a harlequin I read many many years ago. The heroine is english and visits her cousin who lives in a farm in France i think with her husband. The heroine also helps out in the farm. Her cousin tries to ruin everything she does around the farm -remember an incident where the heroine cooks soup for the farm workers and the cousin drops soap in it on purpose to ruin it. The farm owner who is her cousin's brother in law is very prejudiced against her. I want to read it again! Can't believe it really!
I ve been looking for this book for so long and you just found it right away! I ve got another one but I am afraid that's much harder to find since I remember so little of it It's all thanks to the person who runs the Vintage Romances website. She breaks each book down by keywords and I use that to help me look for your book.
I'm afraid the other book you are looking for is much harder since there isn't a lot of information to set it apart from any other medical romance, but I will try. Hi everyone I was wondering if you can help me figure out the title of this book I read a little over a year ago It has to do with a wealthy girl who runs away from home to find herself in the streets.
She becomes friends with a group or a "gang" of pickpockets. I distinctly remember that most of them were good kids expect for one of them who I believe was named Jack? I'm not quite so sure. There was also a character which was a small boy who grew fond of this girl. She would read to them every night. She also fell in love with the leader of the "gang". The mean boy Jack tried to force himself on her and was shunned from the group. Jack teams up with an evil man who is the leader of a rival pickpocket gang and they try to take them out.
By this time the girls older brother finds her and takes her back to her rich lifestyle. Can anyone help me? Theres also a sequel to that book. It is set later when the girl is a young lady and she meets again with the kid she fell in love with and they have an affair and blah blah you know the rest haha. Anyways something happens that she goes back to where she lived neighborhood and gets herself really sick.
The lord comes to find her and her prostitute friend tells him that she died and was in this building where they keep the bodies. He finds her on the table and she was bleeding she had lost the babe and she recuperates and they live happily ever after I also believe he was extremely rich and he left his rather luxurious home to live downtown paris or another setting because something happened In any case, that's what I've been looking into. Most of them seem to be doctor-nurse romances, but I couldn't find a nurse-patient book that fits your description. It's harder with older books because sometimes there isn't a description available, the description is short, or the description is vague.
Would you like to do search on your own? Starlight genie - thank you so much for your help, I will try this website you mentioned! I was wondering if you could help me figure out what book this is it has be bugging me for ever not being able to figure it out! I remember very little about the book. I can't remember the title, author or even the character's names since its been a while since I read it The children aren't her own.
The kids were given up by their parents, because they were poor. Everyone is under the impression that the husband is kind by taking in these poor kids, but in reality he abuses them. I think he might've even been a pedophile? No one knows his secret except the heroine. But she escapes with these children and tries to go back and save the rest of them. I don't quite remember how she meets the hero of the story, but I think he's titled as well and he tries to help out the heroine by formulating a plan since her husband is well-known.
Random facts I remember about from this book is that the heroine was also abused by her husband and I think punished by being put in a cage? Hope that made sense P Crossing my fingers that someone recognizes this novel! Feb 13, , 1: Hello all new here as well. I know a knight inherits land but when he gets there its been razed.
The cover was all reds with a girl leaning backwards in a beautiful gown with a man holding her i think but i might be blending stories Thank you! Hi klkeefe, I think I read something like that not to long ago though it wasn't medieval but more Regency. But it rings a bell. Not sure if I'm not mixing up two books though.
It sounds a little like Fairest of them All by Theresa Medeiros, but I don't think the plot points all match up. The heroine is a beauty in disguise, but I don't remember the land being razed. I have been searching for a contemporary romance novel for years. The heroine thinks she is dating a guy but he is an FBI agent? I believe she is a secretary and it looks as if her boss is involved in baby smuggling or some other type of illegal activity. She is taken down to the police station, in front of everyone at work I believe and the young brash agent along with his older much more mature partner question her for hours.
The brash agent even scares her by mentioning having to go into witness protection. They are apparently holding her long enough so they can install a wire tap in her house. When she meets up with him the hero who wants revenge against this man kidnaps her and gets shot in the process. I think the guy was going to kill her after she gave him the information.
They hole up in a hotel for a while, he is a widower and his ex-wife was a supermodel? Remember her having to wear some of her clothing and then they made out on the balcony but he gets distracted when he sees the magazine she was reading which has the dead wives face on it. They fall in love and get together for the first time while out dancing one night. I also believe she is a red head and is described as making a transition as the story goes on gaining confident and not appearing as mousy in looks anymore.
Sorry for the long post guys, this book has been driving me crazy! I think it was a Harlequin romance but I'm not positive. Here is what it's about: The book starts in the past when the main female character's father had just died. Her best friend's brother - whom she had a crush on as a child - asks her to marry him as a friend and move away - I think to the middle east, maybe Dubai? Anyway, the female character was a librarian at home but when they move away, he is busy working in the construction business, so she begins writing.
She becomes a very popular crime writer while they are away - unbeknownst to him. Then his father has a heart attack and they must come home - I'm thinking about 3 yrs later. While back home they must act like an actual couple - so they have to sleep in the same room and of course things begin to change. While home he is asked to take over his father's company, and he also finds out about her writing accomplishments - and of course they start to have a relationship.
Does this sound familiar to anyone??? Hope someone can help! I'm hoping someone will be able to help me find a book that I read in the late 80's or early 90's The male was wrongly sent to serve out a sentence in the penal colony. There is a ship with a mate named Toby. The story progresses with bits and pieces of past lives of the man and woman and how they are trying to find their way to each other. Part of the story is about white roses and red roses and what they stand for. Either stained glass or paintings in the manor house sparks a memory for Elyse.
It was a great book I read as a teenager. My mom cleaned out my hoards of romance novels years ago. I have tried searching on-line. It's tough not remembering the title, author or even the characters names. Does this sound familiar to anyone???? Later as an adult he meets up with his childhood friend, who is the heroine of the book. Feb 19, , Hello, another new member: I am so glad I found this!
It is a regency romance and the heroine for some reason disguises herself as a footman? He goes to extremes to keep her safe, even almost killing her because a fire breaks out while she is locked in her room. He becomes very close to the heroine and has a strange attraction to her strange because he doesn't know she is female and he is a known skirt chaser.
I also really remember that her gender is revealed during a fencing match between the two of them. One other thing was that during a dinner, she was sitting next to him after being revealed as a woman and he took advantage of the fact she was wearing pants if you get my drift? Maybe she was pretending to be another nobleman? I really wish I could remember more! I'd appreciate it if anyone can think of any books this could possibly be: She's disguised as a nobleman, not a footman, but I really think this is it! I think you are right. I know it's something that I have read.
Absolutely Duchess By Night. New to this group and plagued with title of book i read in the late 80's early 90's. Set in California I believe Heroine called Mel finds she has improbably only a few months of fertility left to her. Sets out to seduce someone, fails and then asks her brother's best friend also her best friend who lives nearby. He finally accepts the challenge and things get going to make her pregnant. This was quite a witty story. Finally she has twins and marries the guy. Sorry forget the guys name but the jerk of a brother was Donny.
Maybe The Stud by Barbara Delinsky. It was something like that but I'm not sure about the brother and twins. No that does not sound right. Sorry but the title is just ticking away under my consciousness and I am sure I will recognise it I'm looking for a book I read back in the late 80's. I think it was on a plantation in the carribean or Bermuda. The heroine and hero were in love, but the heroin was kidnapped or got lost and lost her memory and the villan made her believe she was his wife.
Hello I am looking for An American historical not really a western. The heroine is a "plain" school teacher for a small town. The he is a investigator with a gorgeous partner that everyone thinks solves all the cases but its really him he is seen as the slacker. He is caught in the her house overnight and they are forced into marriage. While looking into cattle murders for her bestfriends fathers ranch. Is sent to the hospital. He starts feeling sorry for himself and never wants to se her again.
She moves close to the hospital and becomes an architect building him a house with rails that he can get around in. In the end they are seen to have a small son. I'm looking for a book that I believe is Historical, but I'm not completely sure. If I'm not mistaken, at one point the heroine buries something she was reading because her uncle would take it away from her if he saw it.
I am hoping you can help me track down a historical romance book. The female character starts out at a convent which her brother placed her in for punishment in not following his orders. I think he wanted her to marry someone. She was then kidnapped by the main male character, enemy of her brother, where in the process she was cut by a knife in her leg by her guards. She remained loyal to her brother throughout the book even though everyone tries to convince her otherwise.
I think the brother had six fingers on one hand I really hope someone can help me with this, since I can't seem to get it out of my head and I'm driving myself crazy. I read a book in probably early to mid 90's, contemporary romance. The heroine is a secretary for a law firm, barely making ends meet, raising 2 younger brothers and taking care of a sick grandfather. The hero is a lawyer, maybe state attorney, he's wealthy. Typical story line they go out, she gets pregnant, he finds out and tries to "do the right thing" she, of course, is too proud to take the help.
Anyway, it all ends happily ever after but to save my life I can't remember the name of the book. Any of this sound familiar?? I was absolutely thrilled to come across this, and appreciate any help that I can get. A couple of year's ago, I read a book thatwas, for the most part, set at the turn of the 20th century I think Somehow, a modern day girl ended up switching bodies with a girl from the era the modern girl being nicely adventurous and the historical girl a complete witch. Regardless, the once-modern-now-stuck-in-the-past-heroine falls in love with two brothers, who were the results of a similar attachment between their mutual mother and different fathers.
If any of you remember such a novel, I would greatly appreciate some direction! Z Mar 30, , There are these 2 historical romance novels that i cant remember the name of and its driving me crazy!! The 1st one is about the hero marrying a pickpocket off the streets of london just to get back at his father and then dumps her there.
I think he was drunk or something and she tries to rob him and his friend and he catches her and forces her to marry her. Shes actually suppose to be an aristrocat who got kidnapped when she was young. I remember then the heros father teaching her how to be a lady and then launching her into society and shes all beautiful and witty and successful. The hero falls for her without realising shes his wife and i remember how she kept visiting the streets to feed some orphans or something and the hero meets her there again asking for a divorce or something along the lines: S The 2nd book is about this girl who runs her own estate and shes yound an spirited and loves her home more than anything.
I remember in the book she travels to his house disguised as a boy and tried to kill him with a knife so that she can have her estate back. I think her name was "kit" in the book. When the hero realises shes his ward he sends her off to school for young ladies. When she gets back shes all beutiful n stuff and i think they fall in love but the hero has his doubts that she loves the estate more than him: S Anyway if someone can please tell me the names of these books i would be eternally grateful!! Z Mar 31, , Sorry it's kind of fuzzy.
I have been trying to remember the name of this book for a little while. I read it a few years ago. It is a historical romance set in England and this girl is forced to marry a man from close to or in Scotland I think. I know that on their way to his home after they are married they have to stop at this fort where she is almost raped.
She hates it where he lives but somehow learns to love him. I can't remember why but she ends up leaving and going back to her parents house towards the end of the book. She finds out after she gets there that shes pregnant. The man shows back up to get her right as she goes into labor in the garden. That is all I remember and I hope someone can help me figure out what this book is. I know I have the book somewhere but in moving three times in two years it is missing and I can't have my husband help me look if we don't know what to look for.
I think this is one of Julie Garwood's books, but I can't remember which one. There's a storm or something, and both end up having to stay in the house for the duration of the project. Of course, they fall back in love during their time in the house. I think there was also something about their unborn babies casting a spell to make them fall in love - it might have been part of a matchmaking babies series.
Sounds weird, but it was a really good book! If anyone knows the title or the name of the series, please let me know: I'm looking for a book I read years ago. It's a western historical romance. All I remember about the plot was that she's a red head that is indentured to a horrible individual. Afterward a group of men from their tribe show up and she falls for one of them. I forget exactly what he is in the tribe, but I think he may have been some sort of medicine man or other well respected man in the tribe. Anyway, if it sounds familiar please let me know.
It wasn't new, but I forget when it was published. I am looking for a book I read at least 10 years ago. I believe it was set in Victorian times and involved a young woman that stows away on a ship, but she is dressed as a boy so she is the servant to the male character. I think when they arrive at the mainland, she does something with the theater or is a singer. Anyway, as the story progresses, she ends up pregnant wich is unknown to her love interest, and she saves a small child from a burning pile of leaves which then causes her to have a miscarriage. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
I read the first few chapters of this book a few months ago and cannot remember the title or author and it's driving me nuts! Anyway i believe it's a historical romance set in old England sometime. And it's about a young lady who is poor and lives with her father on a rich man's property. She used to play with the masters son whe they were children but they grew apart and she sees him again now that they are older and they don't get along.
She gets in some trouble money wise I think and he offers to help. She makes a deal with him that once a week or something he gets to do whatever he wants with her for an increasing amount of time. So it starts with like 60 seconds and goes to 2 minutes and so on. That's all I remember.. I'm dying to read the rest! I'm just going to jump right in It's a contemporary romance She then is questioned at the police station and the hero, who she had strong feelings for, basically abandons her and leaves town.
I remember the funeral scene where the heroine, no longer a suspect, tries to hold the hero's hand but he wouldn't let her. Fast forward, the girl is grown up now, she stayed at the mansion where she was raised, taking care of the family business when the hero returns. The matriarch is now old and needs to decide who she wants to leave the bulk of her inheritance to - the hero grandson or heroine adopted or family friend's daughter who has been with her all this time or something like that.
I remember something about the heroine still being haunted by the night she discovered the murder scene, she has nightmares and screams in her sleep. I think she also sleepwalks.

In the end the matriarch gives everything to the grandson. Can anyone help me figure this out? I know my description isn't very good but hopefully it will trigger someone's memory. Its a historical romance set during WW2. Consummation was a rape scene! They got a son,Luis. Both had lovers outside marriage and apparently the hero was spying on the Germans This book had many themes. At the end the hero's family was killed off one by one by his best friend,Armand who was also a German spy and also the heroine's lover?! The heroine gets shot at the end and recovers while they run away from France.
Apr 13, , Dainty C on 47 I realize that it has been a long time since you posted this, but I think the book you are looking for is Shanna by Kathleen Woodiwiss. I sure hope that someone can help me with this one - it's been tickling the back of my mind for years!! This is a really old one, probably from or so. Two young brothers are on a ship, sailing from France to America, with their parents and sister.
In a storm, the younger brother is swept overboard and rescued by a couple who own a Southern plantation but could have no children of their own. The rest of the family is rescued together and end up settling in the North. Flash forward several years to the advent of the Civil War. The older brother Alex? Somehow the two women Southern belle and Northern secret agent meet and figure out that they are in love with the brothers separated so long ago.
There was something hinky about the woman who rescued the younger boy and was scared that he would abandon her now that he found his real family, but I can't remember the details. In any event, everyone lives happily ever after. I remember the book so fondly, but I have not a clue as to the title or the author.
Dainty C from 47 Did you ever find your third book? Finally found it on another site. I'm hoping someone can help me find this book! It's been awhile since I read it but I remember it was about a lost princess or aristocrat who was in danger and her maid ran away with her, the maid ended up dying and the girl was raised and worked at an inn, she had some kind of scar on her wrist that resembled a birthmark or something that only her family had or it was branded on her, I can't remember!
I can't remember names, I think the male character may be scarred and the castle or palace or whatever has "raven" in it, maybe. I know it sounds similar to "Once a Princess" but this is a different book. Please and thank you! Apr 23, , 8: I am looking for a romance book that has the heroine as a blond model who was adopted and has a spoilt sister the natural child of the parents that talks her into using a condom filled with sperm to get pregnant from her sisters boyfriend as a surragate.
The sister and the weak but funloving brother of the hero go off for a dirty weekend and have a car accident which kills the brother but not the spoilt sister. She goes into hiding but is believed dead. The heroine calls and announces that he should come and get his daughter to the complete surprise to the father. She thinks he knows all about the child.
The heroines sister told her she was infertile when she wasn't so she could get her hooks into the father by pretending she was the mother. The heroine and the hero marry and the sister shows up again but I can't remember the rest. Anyone know this book? It's driving me crazy! I have another one set in medieval times and the hero is hated by his father because when he was born it killed his mother during childbirth. The father names his son Cane. The son is forced into a marriage with a blond girl who was destined for the church.
When her brother is killed she has to give up the church and marry for her father to have heirs. I may be mixing two books together but hopefully not. Hello, I just joined and am thrilled to have found this site. I know I read it sometime in the past years, but I don't know when it was published. I have the story stuck in my head, but for the life of me I cannot remember the title or the main characters names.
This novel was set in the American West, most likely during the 19th century but I am not sure when exactly. The book starts off with an Eastern lady traveling out to her uncle's ranch in the west I think it was Texas? She was an eastern lady who came out to the ranch by train I think she was looking for a husband?
She has a conflicted relationship with the ranch foreman or maybe he was just a ranch hand. She eventually becomes pregnant by him. They visit her family in the East, but her relative maybe a mother or an aunt? She doesn't know how to cook, or clean the house, or iron his clothes without ruining them and he mocks her for it. He refuses to allow her to have servants or any household help as she struggles with her new responsibilities. Eventually she works herself into the ground trying to please him and she miscarries the baby that forced them to be married in the first place.
There is some sort of slimy bad character who wants to cheat them out of the profits and success of all their hard work, but they defend themselves against him.. Eventually they realize they are in love and the well is a success. I would appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me!
It was a really powerful story. New to the group, I'm happy I found this site! I'm looking for the name and author of a book I read in the 's. I don't have a lot of details but I recall it was about a woman named Rose who fell in love with a highwayman. The Rose sticks in my mind as a moniker she was given after being with the highwayman for awhile but not sure about that. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Apr 24, , The Toll-Gate by Georgette Heyer has a woman named Rose who is in love with a highwayman, but they are not the main characters.
Apr 26, , The Toll-Gate is about a very tall woman living with her dying grandfather who's heir, a creepy cousin who with another creep are staying at her grandfathers. They have robbed a convoy of newly minted money with a new stamp, that they can't spend until the currency officially comes out. Into this comes an a very large officer or former officer who likes adventure who stops at the toll-gate and finds a boy alone because his father has not returned to the toll-gate.
His father is later found dead and a highwayman stops there occasionally to court the heroines governess or chaperone. The hero Jack I believe, falls for the granddaughter on sight. The get married at the grandfathers deathbed and the highwayman gets the reward for finding the gold. The cousin and other guy don't survive. They have to save the reputation of the family by killing both the creepy cousin and his creepy friend! After reading through many of your posts I was reminded of authors I had forgotten about.
I found my book. Wild Rose was the name given to the main female character. This was one of the first romance novels I'd ever read and I remember loving the story. Came across another I had forgotten but enjoyed immensely: Amanda Rose by Karen Robards. The first part sounds like Lady of the West by Linda Howard but the last part where she loses the baby doesn't. Beck maybe you should check out Diana Palmer.
She writes about Texans all the time but she didn't start until the s. Ooh I am so glad I found this group! This is one of my favorite romance books but I can't remember the name. I think it takes place in Texas the title may include Texas. The heroine has beautiful long, red hair and she has amnesia. Two people who love each other but circumstances are keeping them apart. I also loved Liliana Rhodes story, Soldier. Dante is a soldier for the Mafia. Dante has been told to kill a man who stole from a drug gang. While watching his mark Dante sees Gia, an innocent young woman who plans to become a nun.
She is home for her grandmother's funeral. Gia just happens to be the sister of Dante's mark. Dante feels attraction to Gia, and as Gia innocently gets caught up in the drug and Mafia world, Dante tries to protect her, not only from the Mafia and drug lords but from her own family.
So many wonderful stories in this box set and for a very low price. This is a great collection of books, each focusing on a romance with a strong male lead and a curvaceous female lead. I'm still making my way through all of the books, but the ones i've read so far are fantastic. One book in particular, Soldier by Liliana Rhodes, is undoubtedly one of the best books i've ever read. In the book, Dante is an assassin for the mob and deeply damaged by all he has had to do for them. When he meets Gia, his whole life changes. She makes him believe he could feel happin This is a great collection of books, each focusing on a romance with a strong male lead and a curvaceous female lead.
She makes him believe he could feel happiness and love again. This is another thing i love about the book--Gia has a willingness and ability to see Dante's soul and who he really is, not what he does. They are both damaged but find healing and happiness in each other. There is mystery in the story, too. We get to see Dante in action, protecting Gia in whatever ways necessary. There is no cliffhanger ending, but if you like the book, there are more books available about Gia and Dante which are also amazing.
And I'm not finished yet! I highly recommend this collection. With its wide variety of topics, you are bound to find something you like. Jan 20, Roxie's Reviews rated it it was amazing. It is impossible to pick one story as your favorite! If you love hot Alpha Men who are attracted to spunky curvy women then you will love this Anthology!. The Alpha males will make you cream your panties and the spunky women will have you laughing your butt off lol. The stories are full of suspense, action, humor, and red hot romance! You need to get this Anthology!. I'm reviewing as I go, so will add them on for each author.
Dangerouse Protector by Milly Taiden Fast paced, highly addictive read. What more do you want in a book? Can't wait for the next book. Jan 20, Amanda rated it it was ok Shelves: A disappointing collection of stories. There were some good ones worth reading though. More often then not though, I found the story lacking, if not down-right bad. I loved the idea of having an anthology dedicated to the plumper heroine, but some of the stories features thin, flat-tummied woman. The anthology was advertised as featuring stand alone novels, but some of the stories were just part of a series.
Jan 23rd, My Rating: This fantastical romance begins with a team of agents from the paranormal unit of the FBI, racing to the potential location of a kidnapped child. James Brock, for all intent and purposes, is the leader of this task force and possesses great powers, which are only mentioned at this point but are not explained in detail and are never fully explained, with no real details in my opinion.
First impressions, you can see that the paranormal unit is not fully respected by the "non-special" members of the FBI, they are outcasts, the men and women used for the special abilities they have, but never get the credit. Shortly after arriving to the scene a voluptuous latino woman comes running out of the burning building caring a child wrapped in a wet blanket. Brock is instantly struck dumb, for the woman running from the house is Cynthia Vega, the "one that got away".
Ten years ago, Cyn broke off her engagement from Brock and left town, never to be heard of from again. Now Cyn is back and has been recruited to be the leader of the Federal Paranormal Unit, Brock's unit to be exact. Cyn is some kind of psychic. Cyn is still madly in love with Brock, but still believes leaving him was for the best. She is desperate to keep her reason for braking off her engagement secret, but doesn't know how she will keep her hands of Brock now that they will be seeing each other again on a regular basis. Brock is determined to find out why Cyn left and make her his once again.
When Cyn receives a frantic call from her eccentric aunt begging her to come and help find her daughter who is missing, Brock refuses to let her go alone and goes with her back to her home town to help her investigate her cousin's disappearance. The two just can't seem to keep things professional or keep their hands off each other.
Overall, I thought there wasn't enough content, no backstory, no character development, and quite frankly I found Cyn's reason for leaving the love of her life, a major let down and quite frankly, unreasonable. Jan 26th, My Rating: Vanessa Dreyer has a little problem, she often awakes to find herself laying butt naked in her neighbors yards. In fact, it happens so often, her neighbors leave cloths for her and will bring her coffee. Besides the sleepwalking naked, she also suffers from delusions of superhuman strength, hearing, and speed that no woman with her overabundant body should posses.
Even though her neighbors, her boss a psychologist , and even her own brother believe Vanessa is certifiable, she can't shake the feeling that there has to be some truth to her vivid dreams. It takes her long time crush, Eric Salo, to show her exactly what else it out there for her to learn about her true nature. There were a few things I wish were expanded on and a few things I wish were just taken out all together, but overall a good read with a likable heroine and sexy hero. Who doesn't like a good dog chases cat scene ; Book 3: Alex Andreas is the sole survivor of his clan, who were murdered by a group vigilantes dedicated to terminating any and all beings with the power to shift or change into animal form.
In order to keep his kind from going extinct, Alex must find his mate. All Alex has to go off of is a small piece of scarf that holds the scent of his mate and that he must ride towards the city to pick up her scent. Nina has no idea she has bear blood running through her veins, and definitely doesn't know her world is about to be turned upside down by a gorgeous biker dude who knows exactly what he wants from her.
There were things I liked about this story, such as, Alex and Nina's chemistry. But I was thrown off by the whole paranormal council angle. I could have gone without the whole guardian thing, it reminded my too much of It's a Wonderful Life, but corny. I enjoyed this short were-bear story. Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose Finish Date: A good Vampire romance novella. I liked the author's take on vampires, she made them more human. I have read this novella once before but I didn't like it as much the first time as I did this time.
The author did some rewrites for this anthology which I thought really improved the story, I didn't find the heroine as immature as she was in the original publication. Shannon comes from money and I mean a lot of money though she never acts like the entitled rich kid you would expect. Upon arrival, Jess is introduced to Shannon's oldest brother Jonah Silver.
Jonah isn't sweet and fun loving like the rest of his family, instead, he is gruff and intense. Being the oldest, Jonah carries the burden of meeting their father's expectations more than any of the other Silver siblings. Jess feels she understands Jonah on a deeper level, and is almost immediately drawn to him. Jess is very insecure about her body, she is a plus sized woman who was left terrible scared after surviving the car accident that killed her mother. She believes no man could every be attracted to someone with her issues, and therefore has always held back from sharing all of herself with men.
Since her mothers death, Jess hasn't had much of a family to call her own, so being around the clearly loving Silver family is both a pleasant and painful experience. Though I did enjoy this time around more than the first time, I still had some issues with the story. I had forgotten what a total control freak and jerk Jonah was to Jess at first.
It is hard to read at times because he was just so cruel. I couldn't understand why Jess kept seeking him out. But boy-oh-boy, once Jonah turned sweet, man was he sweet. Zeo works at the prestigious Diamond Hearts Resort in Colorado as the personal assistant for the quests. Her job is to make the arrangements for her assigned guests, as well as offer tours, and perform any other task necessary to keep the resorts guest happy. Zoe's most recent guest could very well jeopardize her much needed position at the resort, for the gorgeous billionaire can't seem to keep his hands off of her, and she doesn't want him to.
Zoe knows that he is only going to be here until the end of the week and doesn't want to risk her job or her heart to a man who she very well may never see again once his vacation is over. This isn't Bastian Marks' first time to the resort, but the personal assistant waiting for him at the check-in counter is. And man is she just his type. He wants her for more then her services as a tour guide but she is insisting on keeping things strictly professional.
Can he wear her done before the end of the week when his vacation is up? The answer is yes, and he does so quite quickly. I wasn't enthralled by this story but it was a quick, easy read with some steamy bits starring a plus sized heroine. It contained all the typical short romance story criteria; lust at first sight, slightly whinny, indecisive heroine, gorgeous billionaire hero who can't take no for an answer, and a short fling that leads to declarations of love in less than two weeks.
March 19th, My Rating: May 25th, My Rating: Leandor Christopoulos, a Greek, billionaire heartthrob, has made a name for himself as a bad boy due to his pent ion for underground racing. Trying to change his image for his father's sake, Leandor decides to get himself a goody-twoshoes for a fake girlfriend. Roberta Granger, known as Bobby, seems to be the perfect match on paper, she is a total geek, plump, and has just been awarded the Young Philanthropist of the Year award, but her no nonsense, shrewish attitude poses a problem for the Greek playboy.
Leandor figures the only way to get Bobby to play along as his girlfriend is to fool her into believing he is in love with her, which of course we know is going to end badly. I didn't like this story. For starters, the characters are way too young, Bobby is only 18 year old and Leandor, on Let's be honest, there is no way an 18 year old girl would be made the chairwoman for a children's foundation, it just wouldn't happen.
Then there is the fact the author just regurgitated the same conflict over and over again, we get it, Bobby has trust issues. But the thing that drove me absolutely bonkers, was the fact that Leandor is a complete male chauvinist. He would try and force himself on Bobby until she would finally give in to him. Throughout the story Bobby calls Leandor, a jerk, and that is exactly what he is, a jerk, but not in the affectionate way she uses as. Jade by Olivia Rigal Finish Date: May 28th, My Rating: A pretty boring read.
I was disappointed that Jade didn't live up to its potential. June 3rd, My Rating: Burlesque by Michelle Fox Finish Date: June 8th, My Rating: A little overly dramatic for my taste. July 8th, My Rating: What a crap read. For starters, this is book two of a series which just throws you way off. When you start reading, Kane, a were cougar, is on the hunt to kill the witch who made attempts to kill his brother and his mate. The witch, Laura, has a hatred for the the entire cougar race and wants revenge. I got about 3 chapters into the book and finally couldn't take it anymore, and got the first book of the Series, Lucas' story, which first introduced Kane and Laura.
The first book wasn't all that good and the second book was even worse in my opinion. Laura was one bad-ass, psycho bitch in that book, capable of some very dark and powerful magic. That did not hold true for the second book, she became all bark and no bite. Nothing every got explained, and the things that did, were lame and brushed past. Once Kane and Laura had sex, and that didn't take long to happen, that is all their was, sex.
I don't understand why this book was chosen for this anthology, Laura was not a curvaceous woman. Jan 12, N. So protective and sexy! I love how she stood her ground and was strong though battling some demons of her past! This book is another great example of why I love this author!!! Sexy exciting paranormal romance at it's best! Wolf Shifter, Vikingesque looking man or both?
Mmm, this is one sexy little story that had me captive! At the end I was screaming at my kindle. I'll be stalking this author for more stories! Levi's worn low on the hips, not too loose, paired with a slightly fitted tee. That's what got her motor running. Talk about sexy Bear shifter?! I fell in love with this book and certainly am excited to read more! Another author I'll be stalking.
This has so many sexy elements that you don't need anymore! Either way, this was an awesome shifter story. I loved Caleb and Sonya. A man that cooks, gives footrubs, holy moly! This whole box set so far has been amazing and I'm finding authors I didn't know and am now in love with! The only reason this story was 4 stars was there were some errors in a few spots and I felt like the timeline just didn't work right for me. It felt off a little.
Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose 3 stars This one wasn't really a favorite. There was so much science talk that it actually started to bore me. Then the story starts to get better. Vampires, billionaires and what not. But then, after all the drama and build up, the ending just It was just over and I had expected, I don't know. How have I lived so long without them? Jonah was the dark, brooding, black sheep of the rich family. Jessica, the sisters best friend. If he commanded me around like he did her, I'd be a puddle in my pants too!
This was certainly a sex story! I felt that the parent drama put it a little too much into the college drama and less sexy, so it's only 4 stars, but it was still a good read. No drama, no craziness. This was just a sweet, sexy romance where you actually see the romance. It wasn't just, hey, you're hot, let's screw. I rather enjoyed this story and this is a new to me author I'll be adding to my TBR. Soldier by Liliana Rhodes 5 stars I plan to get more of these stories if there are more because I loved Dante and Gia, but I'm a huge fan of the mafia-esque romances.
Tough killer, sweet sexy innocent woman? What's not to love? I really liked this story. I certainly need to see more! Something True by Malia Mallory 4 stars This was a sexy little rocker romance. But, that was it. I doubt I would waste my time on a 2nd book. I feel like everything was wrapped up really well. The characters were slightly boring despite their "famousness". It was a good story, just nothing to leave me craving more.
Heart Racer by Marina Tee 2 stars I think this title is wrong, and if not, then the book in here is wrong. It wasn't about Helios. It was about Leandro and Bobby. Either way, I truly disliked this story. I felt the characters though portrayed to be more mature than their college ages acted childish.
They were impetuous and I didn't believe for a second that they were really in love. I never felt it. Then, the author tries to make Bobby act all hurt and fragile, but yet she jumps into it with Leandro? The story was all over the place. I really didn't feel it. Then to have 2 parts, not just 1, I really wasn't a fan. I just feel it was forced and fake. I was going to give it 3 stars, but once I read the ending, I lost it. The ending was the worst part of this story.
It just didn't fit with the story at all. It was a waste for me. Jade by Olivia Rigal 3 stars This story actually bored me. I felt it was more about the story than the romance and I don't want that to sound bad. I like a story with my romance. But this was really just.. I couldn't get into it. Kings of Asphalt by Alexx Andria 4 stars This was actually an awesome book. I enjoyed the threesome aspect.
One powerful man rocks. The story line read like an action movie, only sexier. There were a few things that bugged me though. How unoriginal, to have a biker named Jax. Other than that, This was one great read! Burlesque by Michlle Fox 3 stars This was ok. I wasn't really into this story. It felt all over the place.
I had no clue what was going on. I didn't like Blake. He was sort of a douche. I didn't feel "Alpha" from him at all. Ruby was naive and didn't seem as cool as they tried to make her out to be. It's not a horrible story, it just, wasn't that good. It barely kept my interest. I love these characters. This story about revenge that leaves you wanting more, wondering where the story goes from there, it's a great read.
It's interesting to see how things end up the way they do in later books. Cougars, hot, sexy, actions, guns, mmmm In all, this is an interesting mix of stories in this box set. They range from awesome, to boring. But either way, there's lots of sexiness in between these covers! Jul 22, Do Your Reading marked it as to-read Shelves: Jan 16, Angel Hatfield rated it it was amazing Shelves: Now that they are working together, James won't take no for an answer.
I found this story very well written. James is very possessive and demanding. He refuses to leave everything alone in regards to Cynthia, especially since none of his feelings have changed and she never gave him a reason why. Cynthia is smart, independent, and determined to stay away from James for some personal, and very understanding reasons. I can totally understand her fears and I love how James's determination is able to overcome them. When she finally decides to approach the hot blond guy she sees every day at lunch, her life does a complete This is the first story I've read from this author.
I liked it a lot and got through it pretty quickly. The only problem I really had was sometimes the people would refer to themselves in a third person point of view that I found annoying. When she finds Alex crashed in front of her house, she goes to help him. She doesn't realize that destiny is about to help her. This is the first book I've read from this author. I found it really well written. I felt for Alex as he struggled to deal with everything. I loved destiny's role in the mix. I look forward to reading more from this author.
While this was just a novella, the author was able to put in enough that it felt like a complete story. She was able to build a world that makes you look forward to reading more about. Sonya's life was quickly going from bad to worse when Caleb saves her. She never dreamed it wouldn't be just the fire he saved her from.
This was a pretty quick read and the first time I've read about firefighter bear shifters. I really liked the entire story and the twist at the end was definitely unexpected. Liz is a dedicated grad student studying abroad trying to find a cure for blood-born cancer. When Liz accidentally sees Robert in a rare moment of sensitivity, he doesn't make a good impression on her.
When it turns out he runs the lab she works in, he quickly finds that she's the first girl he can't stay away from since he was human. Having read the sequel first, I had an idea on what happens in this story. I really liked the story and the introduction to the characters. One think that I loved about this the most was that, unlike other stories in the same genres, Robb didn't rush or push Liz into anything that her inexperience wasn't ready for. She makes the decision to leave and heads home to her brother. What she finds is her brother up to his neck in serious trouble.
Dante is in the Gambino family and was finishing up keeping an eye on Gia's brother until he sees her. Against orders, he keeps up his watch and when Gia is endangered because of her brother, Dante rescues her and keeps her safe. This story reminded me of many mafia movies I've watched over the years. Dante is quiet and private, trying to find a way out of the life he was born into.
Gia is very innocent and trusting and through time is able to figure a bit of Dante out. I thought they fit well together. I can't wait to read the rest of their story. Liam Smith is a rock star that has gotten into trouble one too many times. His lawyer talks him into volunteering at Shelley's charity to make a better impression with a judge. Once he meets Shelley, he can't resist her and tries to win her over and prove he's not as bad as he used to be. Considering it's a rock star story, this was a fairly light read. Liam was really charming and sincere. Shelley isn't in the market for any romantic entanglements, especially one that would have as much baggage as Liam's.
I was happy to see, unlike some rock star books, the author didn't try throwing in every possible bad scenario that could happen. Jan 11, Solmarie rated it it was amazing. I was gifted a copy of this Anthology in return for an honest review. This one has a lot of my favorite authors. Books that I've previously read on my own so here goes: Cynthia Vega has loved James Brock from the moment they met. They were soul mates. When she comes into devastating information she makes the decision to leave him.
Even though it broke her heart. When ten years later she is given a chance I was gifted a copy of this Anthology in return for an honest review. When ten years later she is given a chance to work with him, to be near him she jumps at it. What she doesn't count on is that James wants her just as badly. After waiting for over ten years to understand why she left him he is adamant that this time she won't get away.
I really liked how determined James was to prove to Cyn that no matter what was going on in their lives he wouldn't stop loving her. I enjoyed that Cyn was such a strong character. She was special in her own ways and just as eager to prove that she was strong enough to stand on her own to feet. In a gentle sort of way.
She sleepwalks almost nightly finding herself naked outside her neighbors homes. She swears she can smell things others can't. Has memories that everyone around assure her are nothing but nightmares. And yet deep inside she knows there's more to her. When she met Eric Salo he was just the man of her dreams come to life. There is something about him that calls to her on an instinctual level but he is fighting it every step of the way. When Vanessa's life is put in danger Eric has no other thought but to protect her.
Even though he doesn't want to admit it she is his. Vanessa was vulnerable and feisty all at the same time. There was so much to her. She hid the real her from people around her for a long time. It was interesting to see that backbone peak thru when you least expected it to. Eric was a hot alpha in every sense of the word. Always fighting against his wolf to try to be a better man. The combination of the two of them together was explosive. Gia has always been the dutiful daughter. Doing what was in the best interest to her family and burying herself away at a nunnery like her mother wanted.
But know that her mother has passed away she decides its time to come home and start a life of her own. Unbeknownst to her, her brother is in financial problems with some very evil men and now their sights are set on Gia. Dante Gambino is a hitman. Its all he knows. Something about her makes him want to protect her from every evil in the world. She captured him from the moment he first saw her walking on the street. When they finally meet face to face Gia has no idea who this man is other that he saved her. But never has she felt safer or more protected than when she is in his arms. In the beginning Gia seemed like such a soft spoken woman.
As the story went on you could see how much grit she actually had. There were times she floundered but always got back on her feet and fought for what she wanted. I absolutely adored Dante from the start. He was a walking contradiction. Everything he did was for Gia. To make her his in every way possible. Such an amazing series! Kane is on a mission to kill a woman that is a threat to his clan. The only problem is he wants her like no other woman before her. Determined to do his duty he chases her till he has her in his clutches. But is he really the hunter or the prey?

So why can't she can't she do it when she finally has Kane within her grasp? There are secrets on both sides. Lara was a bad ass. She was a tough, determined, and spunky. Kane was confused about what to do. Although he knew what his duty was as an enforcer he couldn't bring himself to hurt Lara.
