The story fast forwards a decade and Taige is now working as a consultant for the FBI, using her talent to find missing children. The love of her life — Cullen - has never forgotten Taige. In fact, the 2 have been sharing very intense dreams about each other during all their years apart. And when his daughter gets kidnapped by a very dark, child serial killer, guess who Cullen immediately runs to? The hunt for the serial killer through the minds of his victims I loved this story!
It was dark, sexy, captivating and my favorite Shiloh Walker read thus far. Shiloh Walker recently announced that she's also writing the story of Taige's friend who we met in The Missing one of the other female psychics working for the FBI , so I guess this book is no longer a stand-alone: Shiloh Walker is one of my favourite authors, and this book will keep her that way.
I liked how the book started from when the two main characters were teenagers and reading how they met and that the love between them grew over the years. The first time Cullen and Taige made love was beautiful and it made me wish that I had been that lucky in my life. When the drama starts, I could understand why Cullen acted as he did, even though I wasn't very happy with him. The main part of the story did let me Shiloh Walker is one of my favourite authors, and this book will keep her that way.
The main part of the story did let me down a little, but with the writing style I kept happily reading along. The mystery was very easy to solve, but I still enjoyed the journey of watching the characters get there. The thing that stopped this from being a five star read was the physic aspect of the story.
I didn't feel that how all the physic people had become such a part of life and FBI work was explained to me. Maybe it wasn't meant to be, but it still annoyed me a tiny bit. I enjoyed both main characters, and the secondary characters were interesting. I loved Cullen's father. I was a bit surprised to learn that Jones is the main character in the next book, as he was a bit of a cold fish in this one, but I will be reading the book anyway.
I would recommend that readers of romantic suspense read this one. Taige and Cullen's story was amazing.. Look forward to reading more from this author! View all 3 comments. It did try and that part was the most interesting. Unfortunately this is still a romance, and equally unfortunately not a love story. It means that it takes a lot of shortcuts that undermine both the heroine and the meaning of love. The heroine moves from a strong survivor to pathetic potato mush in a nausea - inducing merry- go-round. He doesn't simply shutter her heart, he literally destroys her life, as he has angry unprotected sex with her, just before he throws violently her out of his life.
She almost dies at 19 with the miscarriage that follows. I don't believe his lasting love, as he had no problem living his life, marrying, having a child and ignoring his actions. But you know what? He does make a MC who can have a second chance story. Unfortunately the heroine doesn't. Living 12 years "desperately loving" a ghost is pathetic, it isn't romantic to me. Losing any pride and self, as she's unable to resist his magical, thought- erasing touch, is ugly in my eyes. I would have really loved a second chance story between the two. But as it is it's almost demeaning put this way.
And the dream scenes do not make it a love story, they were ridiculous and at the end unbelievable even in a story with psychics as they were a shortcut. The way the mate bond is often used in PNR instead of love, destroying rather than enhancing it. The way the wife is treated is awful: As I said it's a pity, as the story is grabbing when it's not drowned in sex scenes that mask the fact there's no love here. The first half had a bit too much angst for me.
I flooded our bedroom reading it. Had to move to the Den for the second half while my room dried. The second half got much better though as the couple began speaking after their lengthy 12 year separation. Their break up was brutal and scarred them both for many ye Rated 4. Their break up was brutal and scarred them both for many years. They never stopped loving each other though. I thought of their reunion as the 3 S's: The Suspense in the story is gripping! The heroine is psychic, had been all her life. She works with the FBI assisting them to solve cases.
She hates it though. However, the hero has been tracking her over the years through Newspaper articles, pictures, etc. This is how they get together again. He's tied in with this horrible case the FBI are working on. Yeah, children being the victims is something I didn't like at all. - A Stranger's Touch (Psychic Heat Book #1);
It was miss shelved! I had barely bent the spine of this one before the narrative took a turn for the hot 'n' steamy! This is definitely for more mature readers. The relationship between Taige and Cullen is touching. And I don't mean that in a dodg Okay. And I don't mean that in a dodgy way! These two characters are clearly perfect together, but grief keeps them apart for twelve years. Despite the time apart, their connection is still sizzling. You long for them to reconcile, but before anything can happen, there's a problem. Cullen's daughter has been kidnapped and he needs Taige to use her psychic abilities to find her.
But this is only the most recent in a brutal series of kidnappings which have more to do with Taige than she first realises.
Books like A Stranger's Touch (Psychic Heat Book #1)
This book was unusual in its pacing, but not unsuccessful. I was worried that the first chapters, which outline the relationship between the protagonists when they were young, would be expositionary. Instead the writing was engaging. When you're half way through the book, it feels like your hurtling towards the climax again This is a quickfire read with a good story, strong characters and some sizzling tension.
While I was surprised by the book, considering the shelf it was on, it was enjoyable. Four stars for this fun and somewhat raunchy read! This had all of the elements that should rock me. I just didn't 'like' the characters as much as I could have. I think I never forgave Cullen for the events of the past. Nevertheless, it is an exciting read with a twisted serial killer. I really, really dislike Taige's boss and am interested to see where the series goes after this.
I read this book without stopping, straight through the night. I loved everything about it. The book was haunting. The paranormal elements were a bonus but the real draw was the love story. I'm not into sappy reads either. I like action, danger and a bit of horror. I like the relationships to be physical and hot. This book had all of this but toned down and beautifully woven together. This is a keeper book for me. Feb 21, Shawna rated it really liked it Recommends it for: However, what differentiates this book from those is that the romance element is much more dominant.
We have a couple who knew each other as teenagers and then again a decade later when the hero Cullen requests the heroine Taige to locate his missing daughter Jillian. To me, the breakup in between is purely Cullen's doing and I thought Taige was way too forgiving. The psychic and mystery elements are str 3 stars. The psychic and mystery elements are strong enough to make the book interesting. I'm curious enough to see how Ms Walker turns Taige's unfeeling boss Taylor Jones into a sympathetic hero for the next book.

On such an occasion The Missing popped in to my view from my shelves.

The story begins in the summer of with a blossoming vacation romance between young adults Cullen Morgan and Ta Sometimes the mood strikes me for an intense contemporary romance, nail biting suspense and leap-of-the-pages characters, which is all poured in to my mind with imaginative storytelling. The story begins in the summer of with a blossoming vacation romance between young adults Cullen Morgan and Taige Branch.
I was immediately absorbed by the gradual budding and deepening attraction. To see Taige and Cullen's personalities alter through various circumstances in to adulthood gave me smiles, deep sighs and heartache. The setup of the story is formidable, the backstory of both characters rich and it made the impact of the break up between them even more devastating.
The only paranormal element in The Missing is the fact Taige has a psychic ability. Even though it was the only element in the story it still was an integral part. Taige as a teenager is dealing with her ability as best as she can. Cullen's reaction to it is very open and it actually strengthens their bond, but then Shiloh Walker developed a conflict that ripped my heart out. Over the course of the chapters I became very attached to both main characters. Each in their own way is so very likable which made me root for Taige and Cullen as a couple!
Their individual feelings and actions are understandable in the anxious moments but to see them apart was heart breaking. Then the story fast forwards years to the spring of and Taige and Cullen are adults now. Cullen is a widower with a daughter who is kidnapped. It throws them back together again with issues to resolve other than the kidnapping of Jillian. I thought the kidnapping was actually quite easily resolved but it pointed Taige and Cullen in the direction of the unsub.
This brought a whole new kind of tension to the story. The more I got to know about what the unsub had done, the more I wanted retribution for the innocent. Amidst the suspense there was also a tension of a different kind going on. The fire between Taige and Cullen was long from extinguished. The magnetic attraction was undeniable, and the passion lit up like a bonfire. I would say the verbal sparring was almost like foreplay only to make way for the deep well of emotions pulling these two characters together.
Shiloh Walker can do sexy where the desire almost bleeds from the pages! It is then absorbed by my imaginaton and manages to set my blood on fire. The love was like a beating pulse within the story and the push-pull between Taige and Cullen only added to the knowledge they were made for each other. The connection between Taige and Jillian, which might've been a convenient plot twist, was endearing.
The minimal cast of characters had a maximum effect and Taylor Jones was a character who got a rise out of me. As in; let me punch you, I was just as protective of Jillian as Taige. He irked me but intrigued me at the same time. Annoying attitude and mystery turned him in to another character who added his pizzazz to the unfolding plot.
The balance between romance and suspense is like a punch. It enhances each other to a point where it irrevocably draws me in, keeps me on the edge of my seat, and I just can't stop until it is all revealed. The villain was an easy guess for me but because of gruesome actions I wanted this person punished. From the very beginning Shiloh Walker is step by step building up to a conclusion that satisfied me on various levels. Shiloh Walker's seamless blend of all-consuming romance and whodunnit plot is one of the addictive kind! Read one and you'll want more.
Jan 24, Alex rated it really liked it Shelves: This one was humid sexy. Like I'm on the gulf shore of Alabama and I'm a broken, sad girl falling in love with a rich boy whose gonna save my life and touch my skin and its gonna be electric and heartbreaking before its over. This was my first book by Shiloh Walker and I'm ridiculously impressed, and shocked I haven't read anything by her yet.
It's no surprise that I've got a thing for the south. It's what makes me fangirl over a lot of Sandra Brown's books. I love the heat. The sticky seduction This one was humid sexy. The sticky seduction of it. That feeling was captured here as we watch Taige, the local psychic girl who hates the attention she gets when she gets a vision in time to save someone in the throes of danger. The visions are unpredictable, sometimes coming way after the fact, and sometimes years before the actual event takes place. Because of this, and that her parents are dead and she's stuck with an uncle that wants to save her from the devil by beating it out of her, she's a loner in a town of tourists.
One of those tourists is the charming, and gorgeous but decent Cullen Morgan. He watches as she runs after saving a boy, and to him she's the vision of some mermaid and he's hooked. He saves her one night and it's impossible to walk away. So for a few years he's there every summer, and every summer they fall deeper in desperate love.
Until something tragic happens. Something Taige didn't see in time. And Cullen, in his rage and sadness, can't see past that and makes the mistake of turning his back on Taige. Twelve years pass and now Cullen is a widow with a daughter who is abducted. He makes his way back to the shores of Alabama, and there he finds that the girl has grown up into a fierce woman. The tension between these two is ridiculous. These two facing off, with the years and dirty dreams that may not have been one-sided between them, is like standing out on the porch on a muggy day and the fan is going too slow, the sweet tea next to you is sweating as hard as you, and your heart is beating too fast in your chest.
Maybe something bluesy and dirty is playing in the background. There are ways to write sexual tension that are cheesy and predictable. This book was how to write it to knock the wind out of someone. I loved Cullen and I loved Taige and most importantly I believed everything about them. Taige was tough and tired, but she loved so fiercely that she couldn't contain it. Cullen ached for her and became a broken beast when his daughter was abducted.
The action kept a great pace, the mystery surprised the crap out of me, the romance was pitch perfect, and all of it has me searching out everything this author has written. Sep 21, Quinn rated it really liked it Shelves: This is my third book by Shiloh Walker, and once again, she does not disappoint. We first meet Taige Branch and Cullen Morgen as teenagers, when Cullen and his parents holiday at the beach side town where Taige lives. Taige, as with many of Walker's characters, has had a tough life. Her parents died when she was young and she was sent to live with her uncle, who mistreated her.
To complicate things, Taige lives with the burden of a psychic gift. Cullen is instantly attracted to Taige's exotic beau This is my third book by Shiloh Walker, and once again, she does not disappoint. Cullen is instantly attracted to Taige's exotic beauty and air of mystery. Taige finds herself attracted to Cullen not just for his good looks, but because he is one of the few people she can find peace with - he does not trigger any of her psychic abilities.
They begin a holiday romance which continues each summer for three years. Cullen is accepting of Taige's gift, which she is sometimes able to harness in time to save lives. Cullen has, after all, seen this in action when she saved a drowning child on the day they met. But when Taige fails to prevent the death of Cullen's mother, he pushes her out of his life, although neither Cullen or Taige can ever forget the other. Twelve years later, Cullen needs Taige's help. His daughter has been kidnapped and Taige is his only hope of finding her. I had my reservations about reading this one, as the thought of having your child missing is horrifying to me.
Thankfully, this aspect is resolved very quickly and the majority of the suspense plot is focused on Taige and Cullen's search for the man responsible. It does, however, remain a dark story, with confronting themes of child abuse and torture, although not unnecessarily graphic in their depiction. Like the other romantic suspense stories I have read by this author, she doesn't skimp on the relationship in favor of the suspense - both are dealt a fairly equal hand.
Walker's style flows well and the pages turn very quickly. I only have a few fairly minor complaints, the first being the use of Taige as the character's name. With apologies to anyone who shares this moniker, for some reason I found it jarring and it began to irritate me. It also took too long at the start of the novel to find out the actual ages of the characters. We knew they were teenagers, but there is obviously a significant difference between a thirteen and eighteen year old. The identity of the villain is also not too difficult to determine ahead of time, but I didn't find this detracted significantly from the suspense given the way events unfolded.
All in all, another satisfying page-turner by Shiloh Walker, an author I look forward to reading more from. I thoroughly enjoyed Broken so when Ms. I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive at first with the psychic element of the book but I was okay with the way things panned out.
I felt for Taige, really felt for her for all the trials and tribulati Review copy provided by author The Missing is the second book by Shiloh Walker that I have read. I felt for Taige, really felt for her for all the trials and tribulations she had endured. Cullen is on vacation with his family in Alabama where Taige lives. For him, it was instant attraction. He was determined to get to know Taige but she was a little reluctant at first, not wanting to be just a summer fling. But over the course of four years, the relationship between the two has definitely blossomed.
Cullen blames Taige for not saving her in time. Cullen has never stopped thinking about Taige. But now he needs her; his daughter has been kidnapped and he knows Taige is the only one that can help him find her. I like the connection that is made between the characters. The storyline and timeline was thought out and planned very well. Without going into too much and giving anything away, there is a twist in the story that gave me chills. The Missing took me on an emotional rollercoaster.
I laughed at times, I cried at times. Then there was the time that I wanted to strangle Cullen with my bare hands. The chemistry between Taige and Cullen is undeniable, even through the rough patches. The intimate, sizzling love scenes had me salivating for more. You, too, will be asking for more! But sadly Taige is no stranger to feeling out of place being biracial and living in Alabama Or was it Florida?

I loved the way it was executed in Holly Black's Curseworkers series, so I was happy to see a similar concept introduced in this book as well. Even though the first half of Touch started sort of shaky, I felt like the second half really stepped it up on the action.
My hopeful guess is that book 2 will satisfy more by filling in some missing plot holes. I'm not even going to go into my concerns about Deznee's did anyone else go into horrific flashbacks of the name Renesmee? I acted much the same way as a teenager, so even though it made me uncomfortable to watch, it's probably for the fact that I had my own careless moments around the same time period. I even hid a "homeless" person in my home long story , so I laughed with recognition over Dez's ridiculous lack of concern for her own safety.
Where I did stumble the most was trying to find something to like about Kale. The character in that movie was sealed inside of a bomb shelter for most of his life, so when he emerged into the present day, he was completely clueless to what life was like. For some reason, I found this to be more annoying than cutely endearing, in both that movie and in this book.
I'm sure that everyone else loved Kale's innocence, but for some reason, his character frustrated me. When your male love interest says, "Why do you care if she lets me kiss her? She holds my hand now, not yours! I guess in the case of Dez and Kale, it's like the blind leading the blind. Kale instantly attached himself without limits to Dez, and Dez gave us this creepy gem. There was something about him that made me feel alive. More alive than any rave or cheap thrill I'd ever chased before.
I'm just going to put it out there: This is the kind of observation that someone else makes about you when they're about to stage an intervention on your ass. Well, maybe not the extreme crushing part, but the diagnosis of why you're chasing cheap thrills in the first place. Everyone's a critic, after all We also had this little moment which had me making a face: Alex used to tell me he'd sneak in and watch me sleep.
I always knew he was there, though, and feigned sleep, loving the idea of his eyes on me. I think someone might have been a Twilight fan? Because the mention of costumed "Bella and Edward" characters didn't escape me. Never fear though, this is no Twilight copy. If it was, I would have stopped reading. Kale was truly the one fix I'd never get enough of. However, the second half turned it all around for me. Yay for super-powers and body-swapping and fun action sequences! There were even a few moments which had me laughing. I was really vibing on the second half of the book. It was easy to get excited about the unique traits and abilities for the "sixes" the characters with powers.
Dez's power is pretty badass, but I think one other character might have something even more valuable. Can't wait to see where the next book is going to take us. If the second half of this book is any indication, it's going to be a fun ride. I love how fearless the characters are in their pursuit of what they want because it led us on some crazy adventures in this book.
And let's face it, a character who can death-touch has real possibilities. I want to see Kale break out these powers and start making people drop like flies. I felt like I said more negative about Touch than positive, but I really did end up liking it in the end and consider this to be a great first installment for a series.
It will be fun to crack open book 2 later in the week! Did anyone else find themselves feeling sorry for Alex? It was probably just me, since he was sort of spun as heartless and cruel. I couldn't help but want to know more about him though. I think I was crushing on him more than Kale, which is probably warped of me.

Touch is one of those rare books that kept me on the edge! Wait, that's a bit of an understatement. Let me show you what this "hot romance" did to me.. Wondering now what led to all that?
Well, let me tell you Touch was told in the POV of a chick named, Dez. She's snarky, sarcastic, rebellious, badass and makes it her life mission to annoy his father to death! Don't get me wrong about the last part, I love my own dad to bits. She stands up for what she believes in. She never backs down. She's just totally one of the strongest YA heroines I know. This boy should not wear a top ever again is just HAWT.
And the thing I love about him more is his shirtless self innocence. It's just so charming and adorable, and not to tell X more swoon-inducing when he tells his sweet sweet lines to Dez. You'll just know that everything that he says is true and unfiltered Literally and you can't just help and wait for your heart to melt in a puddle of goo. And all hell broke loose! From all the supporting characters special mention to Brandt! Insta-love on the first few pages of this book! At first, I thought it had potential, because I sort of and I really mean the sort of like the female character Dez short for Deznee or something. I liked that, but when I read further Another thing, when she said those words up there That was breaking the record. And I thought, Bella had the worse case of insta-love.
Insta-love is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to books. I'm not saying that insta-love is always a bad thing , it's not. There are some authors who could execute that very well and with those instances, it is acceptable for me I think that about explains it. Here is how the typical insta-love book scenario goes: Girl meets handsome, hunky boy with blue eyes.
Lovestruck girl gets smitten by hunky boy staring into her eyes. Lovestruck girls thinks it must be love. Hunky boy looks at girl and thinks she's the most exquisite thing in the entire planet universe galaxy. Hunky boy thinks lovestruck girl's so fragile she needs protecting all the time this one hunky boy is totally right about Hunky boy vows to protect lovestruck girl until he dies which usually never happens, because authors don't usually kill their lead male character. Lovestruck girl and hunky boy gets into trouble.
Lovestruck girl does something stupid. Hunky boy saves the day. Lovestruck girl and hunky boy lives happily ever after. Does that sound familiar? On this book, lovestruck girl saves hunky boy. Think lovestruck girl's impressive? I don't know why I rambled all about insta-love up there. Dez , the Queen of Crazy Shit that's what people call her Hair lashed like a thousand tiny whips along my face.

It was getting closer and closer to her. Then out of the blue, someone was tumbling down the hill who landed near the stream. He'd landed in an odd angle. I squinted in the dark and saw he was bleeding through his think white T-shirt in several places as well as from the small gash on the side of his head.
The guy looked like he'd gone ten rounds with a weed whacker. If someone drops in front of you panicking and obviously, wounded I think the most human thing to do is help the person right? Oh and he has well-defined arms and broad shoulders This guy obviously hit the gym - something the local boys could've used. I mean come on. Are those really the things that girls think about when you see a severely injured guy? I didn't like it Dez. After all that, mysterious wounded guy demanded for her shoes. He asked for her shoes. She gave it to him and fallen on the mud during the process. Did hunky guy help her? So here's where the fun part stars.

I'm not even kidding. She really said these.. I don't think I could continue with this anymore. That summary I gave, was just from the first chapter. While I'm a fan of fast paced book This was just way too fast for my taste. I had a lot of issues with the book. I didn't stop because this was a buddy read. And I wanted to, for once in my life, finish a buddy read. Only my friend didn't.
We seem to share the same thoughts on this book. She gave up earlier than I did. Dez She was extreme It seems that the author was trying so hard to make her look badass, but in the end, she just became really annoying for me. I like rebel girls, but there had to be a valid reason. I get that she and her dad stopped spending time together, but what she does to gain attention?
I don't agree with. Take for example that stunt she did at the barn, that could kill a person done incorrectly. She does it all the time she says, but I don't buy it. Her dad has reasons, which I wouldn't reveal because What else am I going to say about this Kale , that's Mr. He's not book boyfriend material at all.
So, Kale has some sort of an ability. If I wasn't too lazy, this part should have been on the summary.. Kale's touch could kill people. Sounds exactly like my favorite series of all time! He was kept in a facility ever since he could remember. I remember a certain female who was kept in a facility too because of her deadly touch too so they could experiment on her. But Dez, was immune to his touch.

There were plenty of similarities though, which I won't be enumerating, because But there are quite a lot. I like the writing - sometimes. Everything was wrapped up too perfectly and I didn't like that. It was too coincidental.
Like how one person was some sort of psychic and she knew they would be able to accomplish the assigned task for Dez. Mysterious was someone special. This seems to be the most fitting way for me to put into words the general theme of this book.
She is what a young adult female character should be! This book has more layers than a seven-layer dip! It definitely wasn't what I expected but that, to me, is a very good thing. I definitely wasn't expecting some of the things that happened. First off, Dez is one of my favourite heroine's. She is strong and won't take any crap from nobody. She's not afraid to speak her mind and if someone needs punching, well she's the one who'll do it.
I love that you see her softer side while she is with Kale, and Kale sees a side of her not many people get to see. I instantly fell head over heels for Kale. He is the sweetest guy ever. I don't think I have ever sat there and said awwwww so many times while reading one book, but I did with this one. Everytime Kale was speaking to Dez all I could do was go awwwww and yes I looked slightly weird sat there reading on my kindle saying awwww to it out-loud but I don't care.
I just love Kale and I cannot wait to see how his and Dez's relationship grows in the next book. The most surprising thing in this book for me was the ending. I definitely wasn't expecting it. All the way through the book Dez is set on one goal, I won't say what coz that would be a major spoiler and I hate spoilers in reviews, but I definitely wasn't expecting her to get it.
I am a little confused as to what will happen in the next book as I definitely expected this to stretch throughout the series. I am really looking forward to the next book and I think this was a great start to a new series. View all 11 comments. Sep 26, Mery St. Quiero a este chico U.
Touch is filled with action, intrigue, excitement and such tenderness that I never expected. Dez is my kind of girl, she's a rebel, an adrenaline junkie, tom-boyish through and through and has some great sass. She was very easy to connect with, maybe it was just how she saw things or maybe it was the way she talked but I found myself really enjoying her from minute one. But Kale is what owned this book for me. He has this incredible vulnerable side that you jus 4. He has this incredible vulnerable side that you just want to hug the hell out of, but don't let that fool you, this boy also got some mad skills.
Quick, strong, powerful and a true survivor.

He's also known as a Six; a special person with certain powers, in this case Kale has a deadly touch. One touch can kill anyone and any living thing When these two are together I just wanted to sigh, such an adorable couple with some real sweet, amusing and sexy moments.
I really loved the plot concept and while it wasn't anything new, I still enjoyed what Jus Accardo brought into this genre. They are used as weapons. Drowning in guilt and sick of his hand being forced literally Kale escapes and runs into Deznee. She figures that this would piss off daddy dear if she brought home some random guy but I don't think either of them were prepared for what happens when dear old dad comes home and knows exactly who Kale is. I don't want to spoil to much, but from then on this book is a whirlwind of thrill that completely had me sucked in.
The writing was really good, sure, it's a bit uneven and even a little rushed in the beginning, but once the story started to unfold I became very much invested in the story. I really liked the secondary characters, they each brought something new to the story and I really got a kick out the different abilities. Lots of twist and turns, and that includes the ending as well so I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next.
All in all, this was a really great read. Fun, funny, pulse-pounding and basically kick-ass. A really great start to what looks like a promising series. I can't wait to read the next book! View all 9 comments. I'm going to keep this review short. To begin with the story includes of various individuals with different powers and their fight against an institution that wants to use them all Yes, a very used plot but wait a second there is a really sweet hero who falls for a girl who is "special".
OK sorry this does sound all familiar, but it's because it works and that is the reason I gave this book 3. All books will have something or everything you have heard or read about althou 3. All books will have something or everything you have heard or read about although the author can make it unique. I do feel this is a promising opening to the series, it has good potential. Apr 07, Tana rated it really liked it.
Jus writing is excellent this story started off with a bang, the plot is great, character development excellent and all I can say is Jus Accardo has me hooked into the Denazen Series. We meet Dez, who is leaving a party and cuts through the woods, trying to get home before her father. In the woods she bumps into Kale who is running from something and she can see he needs her help so she offers to bring him to her house to get him away from whoever is chasing him.
As Kale and Dez get to know each other Kale is shocked he can touch Dez as his touch usually kills…. They end up on the run and both agreeing they have to stop the Denazen Corp. Touch is the first book in this series and it is a fantastic read, full of action, lies, secrets and of course romance. I have rated Touch a 4 star rating and I cannot wait to read more in this series. Sep 22, Brenna rated it it was amazing Shelves: After only hearing good things about Touch, I decided to give it a shot and hope for the best.
And I'm calling it, this will make one of my top books easily. Kale and Dez completely caught me off guard as characters, and I love them for it. They're nothing like I expected, and break out of the common YA-protag mold. Dez has her own distinct voice and sassy attit After only hearing good things about Touch, I decided to give it a shot and hope for the best.
Dez has her own distinct voice and sassy attitude, and she's unapologetic about it. I normally don't appreciate the "rebel without a cause" but I really appreciated this about her. She was sarcastic and fierce but it FIT her so perfectly, you know? And Kale is this sexy and innocent all mixed together into one swoon-worthy love interest. He's almost like anti-bad-boy "bad" boy.
Touch is ripe with action scenes; something that the paranormal genre seems to be strangely lacking recently. But these ones are exciting and done so well, that it's painful to put down. Speaking of pain, the romance in this book is going to leave you begging for more because going too long with it just seems cruel. I don't want to spoil or tease you with anything, but there are a few scenes that are well worth reading the book all on their own Jus Accardo writes this story as if this is her masterpiece, and it's done so well that you're well-immersed into the story.
Finishing the book felt so jarring, like waking up from one really, really good, really hot dream. Also, the story is just so cool. It definitely has that X-men vibe, but in more realistic way. You get these people with special powers, but I really appreciated the amount of thought Jus put into the limitations on their powers in particular.
I've been dying to read this book, no pun intended get it? Touch starts off in the middle of somewhere. Unlike other books, whose beginnings usually begin with introductions and a little background, Touch started off in the middle of somewhere. That somewhere being Dez sliding off a roof.
Aside from this, within the first few pages, Dez meets Kale, and the story continues to escalate from there. Touch was a powerful, sizzling read that had me on the edge of my mattress because that's where I was reading it. It has memorable characters, hotties, notties, back-stabbers, an interesting and witty plot, and humor. Kale, oh Kale, how I love you for your obliviousness. Kale is a six, he's been locked up since infancy so he doesn't know what a kiss feels like. Why his heart pounds when he's with Dez? What lime jello tasted like.
His hotness makes up for this, though. The entire book is written in the perspective of Dez, the daughter of our bad guy. She's bad ass, witty, funny, and just an entertaining character to read about. You'll agree with her decisions, feel for her, and most importantly, understand her. You may also relate to her, but on some levels you may not. The thing I liked most about our girl Dez is that she was so human and life-like. She was a living, breathing character that really made this story worth while.
If you love Dez then you have to love Kale. They're a package deal. Can't love one without the other. Because together, they create the most entertaining book ever! Together there are mysteries, love, laughter, anger, fun, thinking, feeling These two characters make up the story. They are the story.
Kale is quite an amusing character. It's just so fun to read about him and his actions. I can't say I didn't smile when ever he talked. He's just so cute. Aside from the wonderfully crafted characters, Accardo created a story that was unique. It had depth and was well organized. The story made you cry, laugh, and gasp throughout it. Truly one of a kind. If you don't I'll set Kale's hands on you. And you don't want that.

You've seen the praise this book has received. It truly deserves it, and truly deserves your read. Oct 15, Kitty Austin rated it it was amazing. This book, start to finish was one of the finest pieces of young adult genre literature that I have had the honor of reading in quite some time. To be quite honest I have been constantly disappointed in some of the more popular writers abilities at conveying the truth of teenage emotion. A lot of times the realities of how they would act in certain situations, the moods that are so viable at this time in their lives were never really shown as if the author had a disconnection with the characters and couldn't describe them properly.
More importantly this book had me saying "pfft, X-Men who? When Kale meets the daughter of the ring leader by accident, Dez learns that her father is not who he seems to be at all and really the enemy. This is only the beginning of one of the most exciting adventures I've read in quite a while and I simply could not stop reading.
I felt like E. So my analysis' are somewhat crazy, I know but my point is that Jus Accardo is definitely going to go far with her writing. For an older woman that loves YA fiction of all types, even Stephenie Meyers "Twilight" Series did not have me near as impressed nor as excited to read more as this book does.
That was another thing I loved about this book, the relationship between Dez and Kale had far more passion than so many other couples in other YA books I've read. The intense emotional draw was real, not something designed by societies acceptance of "how to go far without going too far. I'm waiting patiently for the next one! Sep 24, Damaris GoodChoiceReading rated it it was amazing. Touch brought out so many emotions in me while reading it.
I finished reading it in one sitting and loved everything about it. Putting it down was not an option for me. The characters were super funny, especially Dez. Her life was completely turned upside down by bringing a stranger home as a joke to her father. By doing that she opened a box of pure craziness.
