Another character I have to mention is Speio.
Speio needs a smack! Man he drove me bananas. Now I need to take a second to mention Jenna. I absolutely loved this girl. She was such a great friend and everyone deserves a Jenna in their life. So many times the BFF turns out to be mean or catty or jealous under the facade, but Jenna was just great.
I love that she is a friend through and through. I love when a book shows that girls can be friends with girls without all the drama and backstabbing. Waterfell was such an original story. It is not your typical mermaid story, actually its really not mermaids at all, I think sea monsters is a better description. Although they aren't really sea monsters either, you just have to read the book and see why these sea creatures are different.
I loved the twist and never in a million years would I have thought of it. I'm not going to say much else, just know that it is original. The plot in Waterfell is a mix of romance and action. A lot of the beginning is romance drama and it is a slow build up to the mystery and action. Once it get going though, oh my does it go. I always love a slow build up that smacks me in the face later.

All in all, Waterfell is a great and enjoyable read. It is ones that fans of paranormal YA should not miss. I finished reading Waterfell in about one day, and then life got crazy - so here I am a week later, trying to get my thoughts down before bringing children to school. I am sorry if this review is a bit chaotic, but here goes: I had an opportunity to read an early version of this book its called an ARC?
Waterfell (The Aquarathi, #1) by Amalie Howard
The relationship between the two main characters moved in a believable arc, and I loved that they weren't just an automatic happily ever after - they're 17 and 18 for goodness sake! I truly enjoy Jenna's character as I think she really draws out Nerissa's humanity. The whole "love over fear" thing is too important a theme in the book, and her humanity represents the love part. The Aquathari can be a bit calculating in their machinations or what we've seen so far , they seem to forget. So far, Jenna doesn't seem to have any flaws - but I don't think I want her to have any. I don't know if Nerissa could handle it, honestly.
- Reißwolf Hirn (German Edition)?
- Messy Death (A Vira Silk Novel Book 1).

Jenna is the one she can count on. Not sure how I feel about Lo right now. Is he only coming to the "good" side because of his bond with Riss? Was he good before, but more lost? I know he was trying to protect his foster father, but will we get to see of who HE is in the next book yes, I am already desperate for the next book in this series!
I feel like there isn't a great sense of him yet. Too many things mixed into his decision making so far. Okay - and Speio?

I remembered that he had a crisis of conscience from my first read, but had forgotten he totally sold her out. It seems like Riss forgave him, but can't imagine that will be unconditional. I was a little surprised his parents didn't kick his butt, but maybe no time? I love the water as life theme, and need to read again for anything more in depth than character development but of course, I will!
I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did, and I can't wait for the next in the series! It is not about overated and overwritten mermaid stories. Instead it informs of a place and its inhabitants with Howardlike sensitivity and imagination. Themes of love and fear and despair woven into a story of unshakakle friendship and heroic boldness entice its readers to engage and become part of the mission.
This book is really really good!!!
I love it so much and I would recommend it to any teen who likes to read!!! See all 48 reviews. Amazon Giveaway allows you to run promotional giveaways in order to create buzz, reward your audience, and attract new followers and customers.
