The three have remained ''working class'' - which is to say, the kind of people typically portrayed in Australian cinema in terms of more or less affectionate caricature. But there is nothing sneering in the way Armstrong views them, though the use of archival clips allows for our amusement at their brash youthful notions about sex and love, and also at some fairly tragic '80s fashions.

She knows that she doesn't love him and is still in love with her husband but three years without sex and feeling like she is beautiful has taken her spark from her. This book was so unexpected. I had so many feelings while I was reading this book.
I cried, laughed, and got mad. I hated that Gabriella went through all the miscarriages and had a bad delivery that left her husband seeing the delivery everyday and made him not have sex with his wife.

The author did a great job with this book and dealing with the issues. Having someone come from and Italian background and being Catholic can put certain ways that you live in perspective. Things that other cultures wouldn't do can be handled differently in another culture. I loved this book and I couldn't have asked for a better ending.

Review Posted on HarlequinJunkie. The Australian landscape is a nice variation for the American reader. The opening chapter is a compelling, gut-wrenching narrative that captures your heart and soul.

If you enjoy some spice, a little bit of comedy, and a solid story, give this book a shout. I love love loved this story. Being the only daughter of an Italian family but born in Australia I know first hand the Italian culture, I was raised on guilt. Cathleen describes the Italian way perfectly, particularly about bringing shame to the family.
This is a lovely written story of a family's heartbreak and how it affects those around them. It made me laugh in places and it made me cry in others.
