This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Every word is like a pit stop that's begging for me to take a fuckin break. Even the sex scene was boring.

Let's just dig into the characters. Is her business partner's brother Logan. Logan and Evie shared a weekend, best and worst weekend as Evie described it. I hated the fact that she kept on saying that she ha. I hated the fact that she kept on saying that she had change but she kept on throwing herself on Logan. If she wasn't, well she seemed to me that she was Logan on the other hand, is a broken hero.

Yeah cliche much on the abusive father. But what pissed me off is the nonexistent amount of grovelling he did. He's unapologetic and Evie's just feeding his ego more.. I'm to read a pair much unsuitable than this two. It took them one conversation to decided that they still have feelings with each other which sucks because all they did was romp and fuck before.

This is my first Kelly Hunter ride and I hope the other's are much better that this.

Product description

So many stories nowadays fail to deliver the genuine emotional baggage that results in such erotic tension between characters, yet Kelly has created a believable and evocative back story and supporting characters for Logan and Evie. I willed them to overcome their fears, as much as they gave me shivers for hitting me close to the bone.

I love this book so much and I am expecting more of the same now. Good I really enjoyed this book. Logan is a control freak who wants things his way. Evie is a strong independent woman. Can she be the one person to break down logans walls? I have read three titles from the Harlequin Kiss line now, and each has been vastly different in tone and texture. My previous forays into the Kiss line were a bit more light hearted and more in line with what I thought this line would be like.

Historia de una amistad

The One That Got Away caught me by surprise. This is a darker read, with flawed but likable characters. It delves into the fears of a man whose childhood was marred by abuse, and examines his deepest fear — that he will be as violent, controlling, and sel I have read three titles from the Harlequin Kiss line now, and each has been vastly different in tone and texture. It delves into the fears of a man whose childhood was marred by abuse, and examines his deepest fear — that he will be as violent, controlling, and selfish as his father.

Mix in a hopeless obsession that has festered for over ten years, and you have a story that makes you uneasy and steals your breath away in equal measure. Evie has worked long and hard to make a successful business of MEP, the architectural firm she runs with her friend Max. When a huge opportunity looms for them, they both fret about raising enough working capital.

Then Max drops a bombshell.

See a Problem?

He asks Evie to marry him so he can access his multimillion dollar trust fund. Both Evie and Logan have been haunted by their brief time together, but for different reasons. Now, older and ten years wiser, Evie wants to put that week from her past into perspective.

Logan refuses to discuss it. With the support of Max and his mother, Evie slowly begins to understand the demons that stalk Logan. She confronts him, time and again, trying to make him understand that they are both different people than they were ten years ago. I admit that their relationship made me uncomfortable at several points,. I began to wonder if I would be convinced that they could ever have a HEA. We are given a brief sketch of her parents and their inability to commit, but there is no clear picture given. She caused him to push boundaries that he feared he would cross.

The One That Got Away was a wonderfully romantic story with all the right pieces to make it incredibly engaging and quite satisfying when the end drew near! I understood his hang-up and fears and I liked that he was still strong enough to overcome them. I especially enjoyed that he was confident enough to NOT be threatened by an independent woman, unlike the last H I read about. We knew he was in control even though he doubted things. The secondary characters in The One That Got Away served to fully round out this story, and I liked their byplay with the protagonists.

Their camaraderie with the other characters fleshed out the dimensions of The One That Got Away and kept the pages turning as well. They were by no means perfect, but they were flawed and helped to move the story of Logan and Evie along, even bringing in the dreaded tears! Reviewed by Vanessa for Joyfully Reviewed It was a quick read but no where did it lack in the substance or the quality.

It was a relatively light read which made me feel good and happy after finishing it. But it was more intense that what I thought from the cover. It had plenty of steamy scenes, romance and sizzling tension which left me grinning after finishing it. Evie's life is headed exactly in the direction she wants it to. She is partner and she loves doing her job. She has her own apartment and things seem to be going in her favor. Except where her love life is concerned.

All she wants is a man with an edge to keep things interesting. She still can't get the man out of her head whom she had spent and amazing week with several years ago. The one who ruined her for all others. But then a twist of fate brings Logan Black back into Evie's life. All their sexual chemistry is still there.

One look from him is all it takes for Evie to give him what ever the hell he wants. But Logan is still his tortured, distant and sexy self who in his head wants nothing to do with Evie but his heart definitely has other plans for him. Logan was a total alpha male. Just the way he was made him all the more appealing. As soon as Evie and Logan collide into each other again you feel the tension in the air as sharp as a knife.

All that hot chemistry was seriously coming off the pages and I ate up every single bit of it. Their passion for each other has not decreased one bit and no one else could hold a candle for both of them. Soon, both of them lay their cards out on the table and start a relationship. It was amazing to see them helplessly fall hard for each other all over again. The romance was brilliant. Evie and Logan were both great characters with a head on their shoulders.

The remaining cast of characters just added more to the story. This book satisfactorily gives you a happy ending with just enough angst and drama to keep things real. The steamy scenes were hot without question. If you're a fan of contemporary romances The One That Got Away should definitely be added to your pile. Another amazing novel from one of my favourite authors, Kelly Hunter.

I am in the UK but bought my copy of the book as a Kiss book from the USA, and it was well worth the trouble - like all her previous books this one's a keeper. After a refreshing twist at the beginning, Evie emerges as a strong and brilliant heroine, showing great insight into hero Logan's troubles, and Logan is one dark hero.

The themes of this book are edgy, dark and challenging, and the development of the central relationship was compelling. It was unpicked and dissected by Ms Hunter in a fascinating way, alongside a backdrop of business and family complications and conflicts.

It was a truly absorbing read, which I couldn't put down. Alongside the pain, there was a whole load of warmth and wonderful humour. Kelly Hunter's writing is something else - spare, economical, stylish and clever. Intelligent women read series romance because of books like this. You will be held spellbound by the fascinating drama and the emotional angst. Kelly Hunter has a flare for writing darkly evocative loves scenes that will take your breath away! Evangeline Evie Jones and Max Carmicheal have been business partners for the last six years.

Max is an architect and Evie is an engineer. They are working on designing and building a Civic Center, all they lack is financial backing. In an attempt to come up with the needed funds, Max suggests that Evie marry him, so that he can gain access to his trust fund. In order for Max to receive the money from the fund, he must be thirty years old, or be married.

This novel is unlike any Kelly Hunter book I've read before, and it's really hard to find the words to describe why. And I'm a writer so words aren't usually a problem! Evie and Logan's relationship is borderline obsessive, very erotic, and crosses lines I've never seen crossed in a Harlequin romance before.

I think this may just have become my favourite Kelly Hunter book of all time. I wasn't sure what to think about the new Harlequin Kiss line, so I bought the first 4 to try them out. This book was the first one I read and since I had read this author before I figured I probably would like it. First off, I always enjoy reunion type stories and also have a weakness for tortured male characters so this one fit the bill on both parts.

Add in the family relationship problems and the amazing chemistry between the main characters and it made for a great read. As a beginning for t I wasn't sure what to think about the new Harlequin Kiss line, so I bought the first 4 to try them out. As a beginning for the Kiss line I think it really hit all the right notes. From the beginning to the end of this book I was completely on an emotional roller coaster ride. Emotional and passionate love story. Logan both had to deal with his personal demons and in the end succeeded with building a relationship with Evie.
