This manga adaptation is beautiful and it manages to capture the essence of the original story perfectly. Jane was so freaking adorable! I loved experiencing the story in the manga setting, a little less serious and a lit bit on a light side. The manga seems to be a little childish, but lovely. Better than other that I've read some weeks ago.
Jan 31, Jayne rated it really liked it Shelves: Jane Eyre has always been one of my favourites. When I discovered that there was a manga version I had to read it! This version is wonderful. It still captures the essence of all the characters so well. Even though it's obviously shorter and less detailed than the original novel it doesn't lose its 'classic' feel.
It's a great starter for those who would be interested in reading the story of Jane Eyre but feel intimidated to delve into classic literature.

I love the Brontes, both Charlotte and Emily so I am always happy to revisit either Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre two of the most important books in my life I enjoyed this one a lot.
I liked the adaptation and the graphics, and the atmsophere. The only thing I don't like us Bertha Mason's depiction- I think she is such an interesting character- her silenced story should at least be referenced. But this was entirely different. This is also my first manga! The adaptation does justice to the original version of Jane Eyre. It's more like an illustrated summary of the classic without omitting any important details. Apr 04, Silvia rated it it was amazing. On that account I cannot state about the faithful adaptation of the story. What can I say is that the storyline was logical, I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I'm totally shocked that they were able to break down the classic into a well-read manga. Also, something that was really cool, was at the end, there were extras: Overall, I'm really impressed.
But, maybe read the classic first, because it would be hard to read after. All opinions are my own. I have never read the real classic before and now I want to read it. Just I had a mistakes of reading because it is my fault. I always forget to read a manga. Jane Eyre stands out as one of m favorite classic and I love that it felt like both rereading the words and yet experiencing a whole new story. The whole collection is a gem a I look forward to continue reading it. My name is Jane Eyre. My parents are dead; my aunt, Mrs. Reed, raised me for most of my ten years. The arrangement made neither of us happy.
It was very good! Jane Eyre is a character I've always admired, ever since I read the book a few years ago. I like her willpower, her stubbornness, her choice to stay true to her principles and her own impressions. More than the romantic part of the story, I like the great charge of strength that a character like Jane can give to the reader. When I discove My name is Jane Eyre.
When I discovered this manga I was euphoric. I wanted to see how those scenes I had imagined in my head would take place. Surely the artist and the curator did a great job. Although the drawings are simple in their clarity, they are beautiful, and represent the characters at maximum level. I really liked the characterization of the characters and the choice of the scenes to report.
I adored the appearance of Jane, from when she was very young until she arrives at Rochester's house. The clothes are very well chosen, they have nothing that does not go. I liked everything, I have to admit it. An excellent reading to bring even the youngest to read the classics. Oct 05, Carla Johnson-Hicks rated it liked it Shelves: I love any book that brings the classics to new generations. With this Manga graphic novel we see Jane Eyre still relatively true to the original but told in a style that will interest middle grade and even YA readers.
The story of the little orphan girl who is so mistreated, gets sent off to school and then takes a job as governess for the ward of the reclusive Mr. Rochester is still there. We see Jane and Rochester fall in love, even though his first wife is still in the house, clearly crazy. This is a quick read and that is where we do lose some of the brooding, emotional story told in the much longer classic by Charlotte Bronte. As this was an ARC, I do not know if the illustrations will be more polished and perhaps have some colour added or not.
They are well drawn in the Manga style and it is easy to see their feelings displayed on their faces. Jane was shown as a very angry person in most illustrations though. I always thought Jane would be plain looking and Rochester very handsome based on the classic, but when drawing in the Manga style, everyone pretty much looks the same. All in all, this was well done. If it brings the story to young people, perhaps they will search out the classic in the future to read the full version. A good read for reluctant readers.
I received a galley of this book from Netgalley. Mar 02, Carla rated it liked it Shelves: This manga follows the plot of the original book without any additional changes, it just stays true to it, and we get some pretty adorable drawings. I just couldn't help but love Rochester's character here. It's one thing how you imagine a book's characters when you're reading, but seeing them drawn doing such exaggerated facial expressions I do mean it in a good way though, I really liked it.

Rochester can be pretty ridiculous at times, especially when he declares his love for Jane, so this characterization was spot on, if you ask me. Oh and Jane is adorable here!! It's actually quite funny how she looks like a little child and Rochester like a grown man. But it makes sense though, since he's way older. Primarily of the bildungsroman genre, Jane Eyre follows the emotions and experiences of its title character, including her growth to adulthood, and her love for Mr. Rochester, the byronic master of fictitious Thornfield Hall.
In its internalisation of the action the focus is on the gradual unfolding of Jane's moral and spiritual sensibility and all the events are coloured by a heightened intensity that was previously the domain of poetry the novel revolutionised the art of fiction.

Charlotte Bront has been called the 'first historian of the private consciousness' and the literary ancestor of writers like Joyce and Proust.
