Recently I received a letter telling me about how a reader felt about my novel On My Way to Paradise.

- The Reign of Prosperity!
I was in college, and every day was a blur of going to classes. I do recall that I fell in love for awhile—to a couple of girls whose names I can hardly remember. But I remember this book vividly. I remember it better than anything else that happened during those years. The events of the book, the people in it, the ideas that it explored—all became a part of me. I felt that I understood my life and the world around me so much better because of it.
Each of those movies riveted me. Each of them transported me. Each of them enriched me and helped me understand the world to a better degree. A malformed story, of course, is not effortless. They didn't enrich you or expand your universe. My online writing workshops have reopened, so if you would like to register, now would be a great time. Then, I found out a normal Pixar film takes six years to develop, and most of that time is spent on the story.
I hope it makes writing your story a little easier, but more than that, I hope it challenges you to step deeper into your own exploration of how to write a story.

The Key To The Perfect Story | The Story of Telling
You are like an archeologist digging an ancient city out of the clay. The essential ingredient for every protagonist is that they must make decisions. To create suspense, set up a dramatic question. To do this well, you need to carefully restrict the flow of information to the reader. However, when placed next to the step above, it becomes very effective.
Ten Secrets To Write Better Stories
Your readers have a right to see the best parts of the story play out in front of them. Show the interesting parts of your story, and tell the rest. Good dialogue comes from two things: Think about the last five novels you read. In how many of them did a character die?

Everything I Know About How to Write a Story
A model—or theoretical paradigm—that found its foundations not in observations of working stories but rather observational processes within the most perfect machine of all time: The Dramatica theory of story sets itself apart from previous paradigms with one simple notion: And it covers theme and character and genre and all those other things writers have grown accustomed to over the years. But instead of simply regurgitating and re-branding ideas of progressive complications and act turns into fifteen-beat-buzz-word-story-room-friendly-boards, it lays out the reason for plot points and character motivations and thematic issues as operational chunks of the human mind at work.
Knowing this, many writers new to Dramatica set out on a dangerous and ultimately crushing path: Once presented with a psychological model of their story known within the theory as the storyform , many adhere to this collection of thematic material as canon law. They refuse to veer off into new and unexplored territories, often thinking their diversions as aberrations to what truly should be.
It works without fail. How could one not trust an apparently sentient being even if it is a computer program that displays such a remarkable ability to understand and accurately predict what it is one was trying to say with their work?
