I, in no way, have disdain for the Hebrew roots of the faith. However, the exultation of the Hebrew roots as some superior enlightenment in contrast the tiny faith of the "gentile church", who're merely a bunch of pagans with barely a foot in the Kingdom. This is where many show their ignorance of church history as a whole. I have family members who were walked into this matter from a completely one sided view. They came off thinking that every Christian form the second century til now was antisemitic, and then we silly gentiles have nearly destroyed the faith.
They then presented our new hero, the Hebraic Roots. Scripture, that's good, so long as you read it through Jewish lenses. Jesus, so long as you focus on the "Jewish Jesus". The sufficiency of the Holy Spirit to seal and sanctify, so long as the Spirit is the Ruach, and you have a Jewish view of the Spirit and His work.

Do you get my drift? Many have been given a tiny view of church history, this goes for your everyday gentile protestant, as well as many Messianic Jews and proponents of the Hebrew roots of the faith. This is a problem. This what I'm trying to communicate. The Gospel is sufficient, the Savior is sufficient, the indwelling Spirit is sufficient, the word of God is sufficient, and the plan of God to redeem evil people made up of Jew and gentile is sufficient God is not Hebrew. I fear that's what many conclude.
He is stooping low to communicate with fallen human beings. He had to use a language to set His covenant people apart. This does not make Hebrew special, it makes it blessed because of Who set it apart. We can not elevate gift above Giver. We can not divorce God from His divine nature by forgetting that He has condescended in order to communicate with lowly creatures. Does that make sense? I need to understand the feasts, but only in as much as they are shadows of Messiah who came, reigns and will come again.
Are you with me? The author basically assumes there's no validity to any Reformer's "anti-semitism" because this is just more dispensational blah No sooner does he fall off on the left side, does he mount again and fall off on the right. J Porter Tell me how to engage the context of their quotes when the producer of this nonsense doesn't provide any first hand citations?
This film's trailer struck me as another Chris Pinto wannabe conspiracy video. I am so tired of dispensationalists who are more focused on the nation of Israel than Christ. Wow, this is truly shocking! The arrogance, the disingenuous accusations are truly sobering to see. I am speaking of this "review" and not "Let the Lion Roar".
The Christian Broadcasting Network
Yes, I agree that the CGI is poorly done, the beards are silly looking. However, how could we expect a reasonable "review" of this work from John Speed. If he rejects the charismata, then he rejects the very premise of the project. When he refers to Frank's vision as a "hallucination" how can we expect a fair review?
It goes on to suggest that the quotes are of dubious origin and come from books "with an axe to grind with the Reformers". While I agree that their bibliography could have been far better, the antisemitism of the "reformers" is well documented. In Martin Luther's book "The Jews and Their Lies" he states "Therefore know, my dear Christian, that next to the Devil you have no more bitter, more poisonous, more vehement an enemy than a real Jew who earnestly desires to be a Jew".
He goes on to accuse Jews of poisoning wells, stealing children and mutilating them. He then says "A person who does not know the Devil, might wonder why they the Jews are so at enmity with the Christians above all others; for which they have no reason, since we only do good to them. They live among us in our homes, under our protection, use our highways, market and streets. Princes and government sit by, snore and have their mouths open, let the Jews steal from their purse and chest, steal and rob whatever they will.
That is they allow themselves and their subjects to be abused and sucked dry and reduced to beggars with their own money, through the usury of the Jews. The "Reformers" were antisemitic one and all.

Attack "Let the Lion Roar" as the product of a "hallucination" all you like, but the premise is nonetheless valid. This review mockingly states " the Reformers did some great stuff but they also said some mean things about Jewish people, and the Holocaust is their fault".
The reality is that there is an indelible line between the antisemitism that the Reformers helped entrench in Europe through their influence and teachings and the Holocaust that took place four hundred years later. They indeed have blood on their hands. What saddens me most about this "review" diatribe might be a better description is that due to the evident disdain for the Charismata, the validity of the message is lost. I would urge those reading this to do their own research on the antisemitism of the "Reformers".
If the context of every single quote from the Refomers in the movie bears out that the Reformers were anti-Semitic, to claim somehow that Frank is on a God-given mission to complete the Reformation by teaching doctrine which is contrary to the Word of God is foolish. God doesn't instruct people to teach doctrine which is contrary to His Word.
The real problem is the theology of the movie. When the writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews says emphatically in Hebrews that Jesus' sacrifice is "once and for all" is he anti-Semitic for suggesting that there is no further need of a Temple? Is it anti-Semitic to point out that the kingdom of priests referred to in Deuteronomy has been fulfilled in the Church according to Revelation 1?
When Jesus referred to the Jewish religion as the "synagogue of Satan" in Revelation 2: The anti-Semitic claims are merely red herring arguments meant to distract from the real issue--what the Word of God teaches. The Jewish religious system is finished because Jesus said it was. I don't care to debate whether Frank is on a bonafide mission from God or not, to me that is irrelevant to the greater issue, which is the current of antisemitism in the Church. When I initially viewed this video, I was completely ambivalent. I have heard mostly wonderful things about Martin Luther, John Calvin et.
If they make statements such as were made in this video, then I allow that to be the impetus for my own research. That research bore out the claims of Frank and others. In fact, this video is quite tame in its telling of the truth. Martin Luther proved himself to be an anti-Semite of the highest order. Martin Luther's pamphlet "The Jews and their Lies" became the blueprint for the pogrom that came to be known as Kristallnacht The Night of Broken Glass when, in commemoration of Luther's th birthday, the Nazi party carried out much of what Luther recommended in that pamphlet. Your statements regarding the destruction of the Temple etc.
The Temple fell because of God's judgment against His people. When did I suggest that the Jews are sinless? When did I suggest that the sacrificial system should still exist? As far as your statement regarding Revelation 2: Or am I to try to figure out if you are being either disingenuous or obtuse again? Jesus did not refer to the "Jewish religion" as a "synagogue of Satan".
Either you know that and are suggesting it just the same, or you don't know that which means you didn't bother to actually read the text and study the context. The Jews that Jesus accuses were false Jews, like He said they were. They were informers, bringing persecution on the Church at Smyrna. There is no way this passage can be construed to be a reference to the "Jewish religion" as you stated.
That is just bad hermeneutics. I'll keep my own counsel on the antisemitism of it. Jesus said the Jewish Religion is finished? Because my bible states that God is not at all done with the Jews. Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers.
I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. However, it is evident that you have not read what Luther said about the Jews. His statements were not directed at a religious system of belief. They were directed at the Jewish people. And while Speed may have a mocking tone about it, the pogroms against the Jews un the late 's were fueled by a deep seated anti-Semitism that had simmered in Germany for well over years.
On November , in commemoration of Martin Luther's birthday Nov 10, the Nazi party destroyed 7, Jewish businesses and more than 1, synagogues. Thousands of Jews were rounded up and sent to concentration camps. The Evangelical Lutheran Church not only didn't oppose this pogrom, but they celebrated it by publishing a compendium of Luther's writings on November 11th Most in the Evangelical Lutheran Church stood by giving either active or passive approval to the policy against the Jews because they had been taught for hundreds of years that God was done with the Jews and that they were under judgment, that they were paying the price for killing Jesus and rejecting Him as Messiah.
Please don't take my work for it. Read Luther's own words for yourself Also, please read Romans chapters 9, 10 and 11 and then see if God is done with the Jews. EricPeloquin We know Luther said some things about the Jews. Please don't confuse the Jewish system of religion which is what Luther was usually writing against with the Jewish people themselves. Also remember that many of the Jewish prophets wrote equally scathingly against the Jews who thought they could earn God's favor.
I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. I am appalled at the audacity of modern Gnosticism in its relentless attack on the Christian church through media in this postmodern world. Producers are cashing in now in a wave of the Bible-according-to-Hollywood band wagon that has brilliantly misrepresented Christianity and rewrite theology, church history and entertain witless "Christians" and pagans alike to uproot the foundations of the Christian church and replacing it with their own concoction of mythologies disguised as documentaries. Let The Lion Roar is a shameful misrepresentation of the Christian church.
It has more in common with Dan Brown's novels than witness and testimonies of the Christian church. It accuses the Church of anti-Semitism by presenting a strong anti-Christian position. The trailer is rigged with gnostic presentations of secret hidden knowledge that they the producers only possess and making it the only way that could liberate the church. Gnosticism, after being declared as heretical for the past years now creeps back into mainstream and the Church did not even recognize it. Here ye the accusations and the "revelations" from this picture; 1.
The reformers rewrote the Bible to suit their anti-Semitic views? How was this possible when the reformers went back to the Greek manuscripts rather than the Latin Vulgate for the translation into the vernacular? Sorbo asserts in one interview that the reformers used the Latin versions. He could have just sat down for a day of Church history lessons and save himself from 2 minutes of slander against godly men. A secret kept hidden for years? I wonder where was God in all of this. These are trademark of Gnosticism who claims they have secret knowledge for salvation.
Just read the bible for heaven's sake. What else God could have kept from us when he called all men to repent and be saved? That Luther and Calvin were rabid anti-Semites? Then they may say Paul as well, Philippians 3: They purposely slandered others to prop themselves up as vessels of truth. Heresy upon heresy, flashing all over the movie.

That by embracing their secret that they will reveal in this mockumentary, the church's power will be unleashed!! My oh my, where was the Holy Spirit all this time? In any case, as far as the producers are concerned, the power of the church is not with the Holy Spirit, it is with their secret knowledge. I saw many illustrious Christian personalities in this movie.
How could they be so gullible and be deceived to be involved in "Church-vandalism" movies like this? Even Christian posts, blogs and the Dove foundation fell for this too. LitoNosa On an issue of fact: Frank's theology, and this is your right. However, at no point in either his movie or his film does Frank accuse the reformers of re-writing the Bible with anti-semitic views.

I had no idea about the history of the church until I watched this movie and honestly I'm really shocked.
I looked up the information online and it's all there I guess someone just needed to join up the dots. I'm definitely glad I saw this movie and now I know. Start your free trial.
