Good lord did this book pull at my heartstrings. I enjoyed the other two books in the series read the last one first, and then the first I am a sucker for characters like Oscar who are looking for acceptance from someone for who they are.
Oscar had me melting the first time Julian meets him. Half of the book I wanted to smack Julian for this actions. It was expected, yes, but I still hated that it was happening when Oscar so clearly cared for him and vice versa. Ava March's characters are beautifully written and become tangible to the readers. I felt as if I was right there alongside Oscar, watching him watch Julian ignoring him at the ball. Feeling his pain when he is betrayed.

The details in the setting were fantastic as well. Nothing is left out. I can't say you need to read this series in order, but you do see the different relationships progress as most characters in the book are in the others. But I am glad I finished with this one because I don't think it could get better.
Brook Street: Rogues (eBook)
I just wish there were more to read about Oscar and Julian. He hates watching Linus disappear from balls to dally with other men. Women are lovely, but Linus rouses feelings he's never felt with another. Unwilling to share his gorgeous friend another night, Robert has a proposition for Linus.
A proposition Linus flatly refuses-but not for the reasons Robert thinks. Still, Robert won't take no for an answer. He sets out to prove a thing or two to his best friend-yet will learn something about the heart himself. Cards on the Table. It Takes Two to Tumble. The Ruin of a Rake. A Gentleman Never Keeps Score. I liked this much better than the 2nd book in the series. The first book in this Regency Romance series, Thief is definitely the steamiest but this one just had a good story. Although Linus and Rob, share just about everything including on occasion a bed and have been best friends and more since childhood, Linus just can't wrap his brain around the idea that Rob has finally realized that he wants him and only him.
The struggle Linus has and the awkward way Rob goes about trying to convince his friend that he really does want to be with him rings true. I could easily see both their points of view and to watch the inner struggles of both of them was a unique twist. Of course the sex was hot and steamy and the men both gorgeous so that doesn't hurt the plot either.

This was a nice addition to the Brook Street series. If you have enjoyed the preceding books, you'll find this one essential reading too. Originally posted on Goodreads. This is my favorite of the trilogy but every book is great.
I loved Linus and Rob together and felt the novella was the perfect length. The sex was hot, their friendship was deep and endearing. I really enjoyed it! I loved this last installment in Ava March's trilogy, for the same reasons these first two reviewers did. My favorite was Thief, but I enjoyed them all. If you have been following my reviews you already know that I love the Brook Street Trilogy. It's my favorite new series of the year and I highly recommend them. Rogue is the final book in the series and I'm a little depressed by that. I'm not ready to say goodbye yet.
Rogue is the story of Linus and Rob. They have been best friends for 18 years and have been lovers for a decade. They don't have the sweet, romantic relationship the other couples in this series had.
Other Books in this Miniseries
Linus and Rob are friends and buddies more than anything, their sexual relationship has always been a sporadic and minor part of that friendship. I liked that this book showed a very different relationship from the previous books. Rob is what I consider a tough guy. He is strong and proud, he knows what he wants and he goes after it. He has always preferred women, Linus is the only exception to that. Rob is surprised when he realizes that it's the pursuit of women that's the real thrill for him, once he has them he gets bored quickly.
The only satisfying sexual relationship he has had in his adult life has been with Linus. Rob decides that Linus is exactly what he wants and he is going to get him. Linus accepted many years ago that he preferred men. He has also accepted that Rob doesn't feel the same way. Linus has learned to be satisfied with what Rob can give him. Linus has centered his life around the friendship with Rob and absolutely will not put their friendship in jeopardy. The couple and their story drew me in and I couldn't put this book down.
