As always, the deep friendship among the Magnolias and their support of each other through thick and thin is a force to be reckoned with. I loved Lynn's acceptance into the group and how each of them helps her in their own way. I hope that there will be more books in the future, when the younger generation, who have already shown Magnolia values, are ready for stories of their own. Sep 12, Christi Snow rated it really liked it. I really enjoyed the parts of this book that featured Lynn and Mitch.
I liked them together and like that they have a bit of history Mitch had a crush on her when they were kids, but it was unrequited because Lynn only had eyes for her soon-to-be-ex-husband Ed. All they know is that he's suddenly acting and doing things that are completely out of character My Review: All they know is that he's suddenly acting and doing things that are completely out of character for him. The problem is that most of those things are adversely affecting Lynn's life and she's about to the point of breaking with the stress of it all.
She's looking at losing her house and not being able to feed her kids, but she's still trying to take care of everything herself rather than going to her friends for help. Mitch's wife Amy died a year before as the result of a drunk driver hitting her. He has two grown boys but they are away at college. He's a construction contractor and is re-doing Raylene's house. She just happens to live next door to Lynn and Lynn has caught his eye once again You have to love a guy with a protective streak and a white-in-shining-armor complex.
Mitch definitely fits that description, but Lynn won't let him save her. She's determined to do it on her own. Overall, I enjoyed her story. Lynn has two kids I like the perspective they added to the story and especially like the bond that Jeremy and Mitch form. I also really liked Mitch's boys when they came into the story.
I liked how Lynn handled him throughout the book. It would be so easy to make her bitter against him, but the mental health of her kids takes priority for her as it should be throughout the entire thing I liked that she kept a good mothers perspective to their conflict. Part of these books is the Sweet Magnolias and the Senior Magnolias side stories. Before this book, I've enjoyed them. But in this one, I think the Senior Magnolia story line and the romance between Francis and Donnie took too much page space I didn't mind the story, but I just think it ran too heavily within this book when it truly had nothing to do with Mitch and Lynn.

I know there's a few of the previous books from this series that I want to pick up to add to my TBR pile. I received a complementary copy of this book in return for an honest review. Actually, being the independent cuss I am I'd probably reject him and his help, but it made for a good read. Mitch is just getting life on a good and even keel after losing his wife.
Lynn is in the process of being divorced her husband's idea, not hers and besides feeling the sting of rejection, she's a woman who has always stayed home with kids I don't often "fall in love" with the heroes of romance novels, but if anything happened to my wonderful husband, I hope there is a Mitch in my life. Lynn is in the process of being divorced her husband's idea, not hers and besides feeling the sting of rejection, she's a woman who has always stayed home with kids who is now in deep financial trouble because her ex isn't meeting his financial obligations.
She doesn't want to impose on Mitch or her friends the gang from earlier Sweet Magnolias books but they rally to her support despite that. If it's important to you; Mitch and Lynn end up in bed before they are married and Mitch allows his son's fiancee and son to share a bed; however, in neither case do we get to watch the action. I've read quite a few of the Sweet Magnolias books but this one has been my favorite. Jul 02, Gail rated it really liked it. I really enjoyed another adventure of the Sweet Magnolias.
Never a dull moment with them. I loved being a part of their lives again. It was so sad the way Lynn's husband treated her after asking for a divorce. She was one amazing woman. Glad she had such wonderful people helping her out. She also gets back in touch with Mitch who had a crush on her in high school. The se Great book. The senior magnolias are so funny. Glad things worked out between Flo and her daughter Helen.
I loved the ending. Hoping there will be more Sweet Magnolia books in the future. May 18, Dorine rated it really liked it Shelves: After the loss of his wife, contractor Mitch Franklin is just trying to stay busy until his sons come home from college. When his high school crush experiences financial disaster due to her soon-to-be ex-husband, Mitch can't leave a damsel in distress, especially when she has two young children to support. Will his high school crush be reciprocated, or is love too late for this empty nester and a struggling single mom?
When Lynn Morrow's husband, Ed, walked away from their marriage, Lynn had no clue it was coming, or what he'd leave her to deal with, nor the reasons for such an upheaval in their lives. She never expected him to leave her with no money for food, plus a house near foreclosure, forced to fend for herself and their two children alone. Their marriage had never been passionate, but Lynn felt it had been comfortable.

How she moves on depends completely on putting her two children first, but will there be enough room for her to heal as well? Mitch Franklin tries to stay busy with his contracting business so he spends less time thinking about the loss of his wife, who was killed by a drunk driver a year ago. With his sons off to college, being an empty nester alone has caused more than one change in his lifestyle. Luckily, his good friends and current clients, Raylene and Carter, invite him frequently for dinner after he's spent the day working on their addition.
He loves the camaraderie but can he survive Raylene's penchant for match-making? Can Raylene help it if Lynn and her kids live right next door and are naturally invited for dinner too? Mitch and Lynn knew each other as teens but Mitch's crush on Lynn was never reciprocated because she only had eyes for Ed. It doesn't take Raylene long to recognize a boy's crush being rekindled now as a man.
Will Lynn be able to resist the man who looks way too fine in a pair of jeans and who seems to be right there whenever she needs him most?
Where Azaleas Bloom
Or will Lynn's soon-to-be ex-husband douse the flames with one obstacle after another? Mitch and Lynn have so much to overcome to get even close to a happy-ever-after that their story often feels like waves ebbing, flowing and then crashing against a rocky shore. Keep some tissues handy because they're not the only ones in emotional upheaval in the small town of Serenity, North Carolina. Problems hinted at in book eight and book nine are wrapped up in an often emotional, yet satisfactory, way for these three good friends.
Each story is unique, but revisiting with favorite characters is a big part of the fun. Author Sherryl Woods excels at touching on sensitive subjects with realism, shaking rather than stirring, then resolving with love. Apr 19, Jess rated it really liked it Shelves: This is the tenth book in the Sweet Magnolias series and the third book in the newest trilogy that has been released. This one was all about Lynn a struggling mom of two and Mitch.
Unless I'm mistaken, I don't recall meeting these characters in any of the previous books but many of the recurring characters turned up in this one. A brief synopsis first. Lynn is just reeling from the understanding that she will not be reconciling with her husband Ed and is now in an embittered divorce battle wi This is the tenth book in the Sweet Magnolias series and the third book in the newest trilogy that has been released.
Lynn is just reeling from the understanding that she will not be reconciling with her husband Ed and is now in an embittered divorce battle with him. To top it off, he hasn't been paying child support and this is forcing Lynn to take extra jobs to feed her family she has two children. Mitch has known Lynn since high school and while he's doing work on her next door neighbors house Raylene he sees that she is struggling with something in life. Being the sweet charming man that he is, he wiggles his way into Lynn's life to try and help her out.
He offers her a job helping do his paperwork for him and he also begins to notice that his high school crush on her is still firmly in place. Mitch is a widower and is balancing his grief over his wife with his new found desire to move on with a new woman. The two of them try to work out their feelings with each other while battling exes, family concerns, money problems and good old fashion town gossip. It almost seems like it's impossible for either to be happy! I think this book might actually be my favorite out of the recent trio of books released.
I had this soft spot for Lynn and all she was being forced to go through. I couldn't believe what Ed was doing to her and I just wanted to beat him over the head with an umbrella. And Mitch was such a sweetheart. He was not only trying to help out Lynn but he really did an old fashioned courting and that was so awesome. I have to say the "big moment" came much later in the book than I think happened in the others but that just went along with the characters.
They had so much respect for eachother and it was nice to have a slow build of attraction and sexual heat between the two. I kept saying to myself "it will happen! The side plot of Helen battling for Lynn in court was interesting but more interesting was Helen's mom's plot! I can't even go into detail because I don't want to ruin it.
But I was definitely happy with how things turned out there. Ed's story really surprised me. I'm actually curious if we'll get any details about how he is handling his new life and whether he's been up front with people. Maybe a little mini ebook? Now it's my unhappy duty to wait for the next trio to come out. I'll have to content myself with re-reading until a new release is coming. This is book 10 in the Sweet Magnolias series by Sherryl Woods. I loved this book so much. It's the story of Lynn Morrow and Mitch Franklin who knew each other in their childhood.

Mitch begins to stop by often and gives her a job so she can buy groceries. He knows her pride has interfered with her accepting help. Raylene gets wind of his interest in her and meddles a bit. Another of the Sweet Magnolias, Helen is Lynn's attorney. This is another love story with all the magic Sherryl Woods brings. Lynn Morrow, the heroine, finds herself in a bind when her ex-husband is not holding up his end of the bargain. Definitely something I never would have guessed. I love how Woods can keep you guessing and where you want to read the whole book in one sitting. I finished the novel and was quite sad because I want more Sweet Magnolias. Mitch has a long way to win Lynn over. Mitch is the type of guy we all wish existed. He is thoughtful, caring and honest. Her husband Carter befriends Mitch which makes it easier for Lynn.
Oct 19, Reen Graham rated it liked it. I had a hard time liking the main character, Lynn. She was too judgemental for me. People tried to help her but she pushed them away. I know lots of authors make their characters independent but this one went further than I would like to see. I had a very hard time getting into this book and it took me a very long time to read it. When I find a book I like I won't put it down but this one spent more time down than being read.

At first I just thought this book was okay to boring, but the deeper I got into it the more Lynn annoyed me along with the same plot repeated. Unfortunately this series should have ended after the first 4 books; the rest have been yawn worthy to highly irritating.
In this installment, we have And then Lynn turned very judgmental on Mitch, the man who is nothing but supportive of her. The At first I just thought this book was okay to boring, but the deeper I got into it the more Lynn annoyed me along with the same plot repeated. The man had one brief period in his adult life when he drank more than usual right after his wife was killed - that does not make an alcoholic. Yet she accuses him of it multiple times and treats him pretty poorly throughout the story.
And the author did a terrible job with the Ed reveal - after dragging it out for the entire book, he comes out to Lynn And who was blackmailing him? Oct 16, Tobborah rated it liked it. Okay, we are deep in the stories of Serenity, South Carolina and you would think there was nothing else to learn.
Woods keeps giving us solid stories. As this series has evolved, the stories have become less a straight love story through tough circumstances and more morality tales closely intertwined with the love story. Where Azaleas Bloom (The Sweet Magnolias, #10) by Sherryl Woods
Kinda Here's my "Cliff Notes" version with a bit of 'tude for all you old-schoolers: A warm, moving second chance at love and family kind of drama. Moving story, third book in series we've recvd. It's a heartwarmingly real and at times heartbreaking tale full of community and all the humor and sorrow that comes along with a small town knowing and helping you with your business, if you know what we mean. And we mean that in the best possible way!
Sherryl Woods makes you feel for Lynn and her characters are folks you either want to be friends with or seem a whole like one's you already have, especially if you are from a small town or live in the South. What appealed to many of the BC Gals was the fact that our girl Lynn shows some seriously admirable strength of character by taking the high road often. Yes, logically we can all agree that's the RIGHT thing to do, but logic, passion and hurt can make the cray, cray come out in the best of us. Just ask my hubs. I'm a very relaxed, patient woman but even I've been known to do a lot more for a lot less.
Choosing golf over my babies? Mitch Franklin represents some baggage for Lynn, as he's a man whom she inadvertently hurt while they were growing up. He's the "fixer" in the relationship not the woman-HA! In turn, Lynn listens as he reveals the hell he's lived though. Mitch is kind, considerate and infinitely patient. Good Lord is he ever. But if you like contemporaries like this, he's your man. He's remodeling Lynn's boss's house next door Raylene and Carter Rollins see Honeysuckle Summer and unfortunately, Mitch's baggage far outweighs his past with Lynn.
Without saying too much it's in the cover copy we find out that his wife, Amy, was killed a year earlier by a drunk driver. Mitch was understandably devistated and the idea of a new relationship brings heartache and guilt.

He's a man of the community and has 2 sons who are away at college. With Ex-hubby Ed out hitting the links and not keeping up with his child support Lynn comes to lean on the Rollins family and Mitch and it carries over to Lynn and Mitch's daily interactions and families in realistic ways. Lynn soon becomes a member of the Sweet Magnolias circle of friends and thanks to their nosiness ahem support she continues to make strides forward with her life.
Mitch is still working though guilt and lets Lynn who's understandably skittish from the divorce set the pace with their relationship. Lynn and Ed work out their differences and divorce in a realistic albeit not surprising way. Several other subplots involve other characters and issues from other books in the series See Midnight Promises and Catching Fireflies. If you like your romances realistic, sweet and chalk full of friendships, family, and community then this book, series and author will be one you'll want to explore more in the future.
And with over books in print Ms. Sherryl Woods has plenty more where this came from! BC Gal who Lives for this stuff: A- BC Gal who prefers more smexy reads: Review originally published at The Bookwyrm's Hoard. Sherryl Woods consistently turns out well-crafted, enjoyable contemporary romances, and her latest novel is no exception. Both main characters are portrayed with sympathetic insight, as are many of the secondary characters.
She also does her best to protect them from knowing how bad the financial situation is, with mixed success. Fortunately, neither Mitch nor the Sweet Magnolias are willing to let her get away with that. Mitch is the ideal man for Lynn: Their growing attraction and friendship deepening into love are well handled. Strong female friendships are a welcome feature of all the Sweet Magnolias books, and Where Azaleas Bloom delivers on this front, as well.
To begin with, I figured out well before the end of the book why Ed was behaving the way he was. And while forgiveness is a wonderful message, I felt that there should have been stronger consequences for his actions. But those are relatively minor flaws, and did not detract significantly from my enjoyment of the romance between Lynn and Mitch or the book as a whole.
I received a review copy from Harlequin through NetGalley. Oct 20, Deborah rated it really liked it. Although divorce is not an attractive subject, Ms. Highly attractive Mitch Franklin, a talented building contractor conveniently working next door to Lynn, has known her since middle school. In her heart, every woman wants a Mitch.
Not only does Ms. And, at the same time, Mitch, too, has to lay to rest his doubts and fears about falling in love again after the death of his wife. The two minor plots in the novel were less interesting and sometimes they strayed from the main story line too long. The plot seems like needless drama. Since Frances cannot recover, this subplot takes away from the overall upbeat tone of the novel because every other character faces and conquers his or her own personal challenge.
