I had the pleasure of reading the first volume of this two volume set, 'Horrible Stories for Terrible People, Vol. The author, James Pratt, went a step further with this volume, than the first. This collection has one more story than the first, and covers an even broader range of topics.

Here we see tales of the supernatural, science fiction, discussions of God and gods, and even a bizarre take on 'The Sound of Music'. Yep, you heard that right, but don't be looking for Julie Andrews! A great blending of old-time religion and Gamera. It just doesn't get any better. I highly recommend this collection, as well as his first, for a couple of fantastic reads!! One person found this helpful. This 2nd collection doesn't disappoint.
Once again the reader is transported to many places, some unfamiliar and some maybe more familiar than we would want. He has a talent for blending humor with the supernatural. The first impression was that it looked smaller and different than the location we are familiar with from early seasons of Obscura. However, we overheard workers inside say that they had moved about a year ago and that the new location is actually larger that the previous site. The store offered some very unique items. I held a human scapula while inside, for example.

I also saw taxidermy frogs playing harps for sale--very unique. I was also happy to catch Evan Michelson inside while I was there I felt a bit starstruck having only seen her on tv. Overall, if you're familiar with the show and have some extra time in NYC it will be well spent with a visit to Obscura. The staff are kind with negotiations as I overheard. We watch the show and were surprsed that it was smaller than we though but otherwise just as expected.
Of course, I think the items are pricey, but I do not do much shopping for these type of items. Employees were pleasant and funny and we enjoyed the walk through the neighborhood. On the show it looks much bigger than it is in person. So many interesting things packed in there. The staff is very friendly. Own or manage this property?
