Fallout Fixes and Performance Guide. Apparently, nuclear war 'experts' are horrified by Fallout 76 self. Nuclear war experts warn about Fallout Oh, but it does sell well and it's totally fun. What are these guys on about? Has the world gone crazy? It's a video game FFS, let us have fun! The horrors are deeper than the surface. On the surface it looks like a funny game with no sense of realism about the horror of Nuclear War, but once you explore, listen to the tapes, and read the terminals. It becomes really fucked up.

I remember that one. The slow realization of what was going on is a high low? Need I say more? Tell dad there's no way in hell I'm spending nuclear Armageddon trapped with him in a fucking closet. You can have my number. Have a happy holocaust! I first played FO3 9ish years ago and that still sticks with me. What stuck with me was the crazy bomber in the alley screaming at people on a loud speaker, and he says 'we captured the sun in a jar and then we broke that jar all over our little world. That was in Fo3? I remember something really similar in Fo4, must've been in Far Harbor or maybe Nuka World as those I've played a bit of rather recently.
Yeah it was, I remember it vividly, those series of holotapes are one of my favourites in the series.
War doesn't have to be nuclear to kill indiscriminately | USA | Al Jazeera
There most definitely is something like that in 4, one that springs to mind is Officer Daley holotape in Concord when you first get Power Armor and the black box in one of the crashed airlines depicts the pilots witnessing the blast. First time I played fallout 4 and went through holo tapes and terminals it was sad. Off the top of my head I can recall Vault 11 being really depressing.
No joke, first time I played through vault 11, I legit had nightmares. Details from the wiki linked above: Fallout has historically been socially aware, with hints to real world situations. IMO that's party if it's charm. Vault 21 I believe, was the plant vault to me was freaky. Those plants freaks are the only reason why I avoid the quest that one guy in the NCR Camp at the airport. To me, those terminal entries where very depressing. Ever find the lady in the train car asking for help over a broadcast?
She and her son escaped the bombs but got trapped and eaten by ghouls. You can hear her final words when you get close enough to pick up the broadcast. Iirc it's a small hatch on the roof of the tipped over train carriage. Took me awhile to find as well. Every time I'm walking around the Commonwealth, and I hear gunshots start popping off in the distance, I just think how much that world would suck to live in. Then I think about the people who actually live in places where that is a reality, and I'm grateful I live in the time and place I do. I actually went Institute on my first playthrough because the RP of "fuck, this place would suck to live in if you knew what good life was like, fuck it" struck me.

The one that got me it's not the worst, just hits close to home was the one holotape you find of the girl who ran away from home the night of the bombs. You just get a sense of the terror and sadness of running away as a young girl, then they nuke the world and you're watching this happen all alone knowing you willingly left the relative comfort of your loved ones.
That one hit me below the belt for sure. The expert who made the comment recognizes that. Here's what he actually had to say about that in the article:. Launching them for laughs is a complete violation of the sense of the game.

I think if you really want to zing Bethesda, give them hell for taking one of the most literate, well-written franchises in gaming history and turning it into just another way that teenage griefers can go around nuking each other. I mean, I don't necessarily agree with him but at least his opinion isn't "ermehgherd nukes are bad mmmkay games make people violent". You don't primarily launch them for laughs. You launch them at a mythical enemy to devastate them and then exploit their resources in the process.
What You Need to Know About North Korea & Its Nuclear Program
It doesn't trivialise nuclear war so much that it reflects modern day foreign policy of some warmongering countries. Art imitating life and all that.
I agree with the dude in the article. The only exception is New Vegas as one of the main antagonists provides you with thought provoking dialogue on just what your pc did in setting off nukes. The lonesome road dlc is set up where you lose out on something for choosing how you go about the nuclear launch at the end if the dlc. And if that wasn't enough nuclear mayhem, you can carry around a portable mini-nuke launcher. Yet more mini-nukes, nuke the Institute, nuke the Children of Atom, and of course, the dramatic view on the last day when the nuke hits Boston.
TBF, New Vegas is one of my favorite entries in the series. Though I recognize that it was not actually developed by Bethesda. Oh so it's impossible to be a fan of the series while not being a fan of the direction Bethesda took with the series? And I think he's got a pretty good grasps of the mechanics and that comes from someone who's followed every news about Nukes aren't just for making high level zone with resources.
Also what's wrong with loving New Vegas? Fallouts entire premises is a pastiche of the 50s unthinking obedience to the cultural, political and consumerist way of life. It mocks elitism, corporate greed, and corruption. Its a jovial warning to all that we , and the world, are finite. Many other forms of media have successfully made similar statements using comedy as a tool for change.
They lack the ability to think laterally or with imagination Why on Earth would you arm yourself with an inferior nuclear siege weapon? A shoulder mounted nuclear trebuchet can launch a 90kg nuke meters! To be fair, the nuke scene in modern warfare was horrific and wasnt supposed to make it seem fun or funny. But I haven't played any of the newer ones so I don't know what they do.
The only other place it appears is in multiplayer, in Modern Warfare 2 as a 25 kill streak and in the Black Ops games after finishing a match on Nuketown. Ah, yeah, that's right. It's been a while since I last played MW2, so that one slipped my mind.
North Korea WARNING: Kim Jong-un could spark World War 3 by selling arms to THIS country
Infinite Warfare has one of the best campaigns in the whole series IMO, and being honest I'm disappointed we'll never see a return to that universe as a result of the negative reception. He definitely added quite a bit to the character roster, and honestly I liked most of the characters in the campaign. There's a "Nuke" in many more CODs though. No matter what they name it, everybody still calls it the "Nuke. A MOAB mother of all bombs is a non-nuclear bomb.
It's a fuel bomb, as far as I remember from when Trump dropped one on Syria. Yeah, that was exactly his point. Nobody cares about the type of bomb it is, since it's effectively just the "nuke" in terms of gameplay. Ya but in MW2 the reward for a 25 kill streak is you nuke the map and end the match. You don't see much though, everything just turns white and you hear the rolling boom. The Fallout series is 8 years older than the Call of Duty series, and even then the first instance of nuclear weapons in CoD that I can remember is from Modern Warfare which didn't come out until , a decade after the first Fallout game was released.
The first Command and Conquer game was released 2 years before the first Fallout game, though, so you're correct in that point. Or just portraying war in a fun way in general. War isn't fun or funny either, but it's a video game ffs. I mean the nukes in this game aren't for laughs though, aren't they supposed to be used against the scorchbeasts? If you launch any nukes at all, you can never become idolized with the BoS. If you stop the nuke launch, ED-E sacrifices himself.
If you launch a nuke on either faction you get a massive faction drop. No to mention you get an ear full of dialogue about how fucked you made the divide due to your actions and the antagonist is directly against you for the very fact u had a role in nuking it. I thought it brought out the scorchbeasts from underground or something so you could go kill them and get the good loots in the super irradiated area. Scorchbeasts come out from nests underground. Your goal is to nuke their nests to seal up the caverns.
Some of us haven't played the game yet Well james Cameron's Titanic egregious use of nipples completely trivialized nipples and now we don't take those seriously anymore. I nuked it for that sweet Penthouse. Was a little annoyed when Moira didn't bite it. After I blew up Megaton, I fast travelled there, expecting everyone to be dead. Hearing Moira's cheerful voice from out of the blue behind me scared the hell outta me. Later on I got a notification saying she died on the way. I'm pretty sure everyone kept a save right before the Megaton nuke, just so you could load it every so often and see it again.
I once did Lonesome Road before going to Vegas, and chose the option to nuke both factions. Then, when I finally decided to do the main storyline, both factions reset to neutral and I still get both nuked zones. At this point there's 3. I hope the source s from this article spend their time trying to get nukes out of the real world, not just video games. I mean one of the central themes of the franchise is that imperialism normalizes war and unethical practices. Lmao if anything trivializes nuclear warfare its the fact that you can nuke an airport terminal to "win".
Well the good news is the terrorists no longer control the airport. The bad news is we nuked the rest of the city to do it! I loved nuking the hell out of Megaton over and over again. I now stockpile nuclear warheads in my homes basement. Not even the first in the franchise. The above point highlights the other difficulty with the ATT - namely, that it primarily deals with legal transfers. The problem is that many conflicts are now fuelled by weapons supplied via illegal trade, especially in small arms. This uncontrollable proliferation of conventional weapons will continue to take a heavy death toll each year unless the international community comes up with an effective international tool to control it - the way it did with nuclear weapons.
The views expressed in this article are the author's own and do not necessarily reflect Al Jazeera's editorial stance. Five years on, we revisit this story. Russian-Saudi relations could be very different today, if Stalin hadn't killed the Soviet ambassador to Saudi Arabia. What draws Kenyan women to join al-Shabab and what challenges are they facing when they return to their communities? War doesn't have to be nuclear to kill indiscriminately The proliferation of conventional weapons is out of control and incredibly deadly.
