Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I totally recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author. Characterization, plot, dialogue - all executed perfectly. The story, even for its short length, didn't skip on depth, complexity and emotion. The conflict, resolution and the path to get there were crafted beautifully. It held enough of the realistic nature, actions and thought processes of most single mom's I know to allow this reader to relate well to the main character, long to be in her shoes, and look forward to each new encounter with her new vampire lover.
An escape every single mom could wish for in this well written, romantic tale of vampires, carnal lust and older women who find they truly are still attractive! The only problem I had was that I felt it ended too soon. I'd like more, please! I would love to know if the tale will continue for Vare and his new human lover.
I want to know what happens when Veronique and the rest of the clan meet up with them at the clan house in Washington. The thought of the conflict to come proves to be quite exciting! Will Brian and his prom date go on to have a romance of their own? I thought that was so touching! Will sweet, almost innocent Darlene and the Dominant Vare become a full and true permanent couple?
They are so good together! Please don't leave me in suspense, tell me this is to be continued because it would be a huge shame if it were not! She never figured she would have to deal with the supernatural to do so. Brian a teen that likes to try new things but this one is a killer. When he isn't showing up his mother, Darlene goes looking for him and finds him at a house drained and dying. That is when she is attacked by a strange woman with unusual strength.
A blond haired man appears and stabs the woman and she dissipates into dust. Most people would be terrified all Darlene can do is beg for the life of her son.
