I dont even know where to begin with this review. If you have not read the first book I highly suggest reading it before getting into this book.

We see how she has to come to terms with herself and question everything that she has been doing. Thankfully with the support of her parents and friends Faith doesnt stop looking for her children. Speaking of looking for children, Rage's son is being found through one of Jana's friends. Now that Rage has finally met him, will this be the end for her? This book follows Faith through the awful world of human trafficking as she tries to find her children. The book is a great next part of the story and I can't wait to read on. In some ways it is better than the first book or maybe I got used to the graphic description of this seedy world of human trafficking.

Faith enlisted the aid of Beast and Rage, a couple people she met at court-ordered anger management class. Their names reflect their feelings, kind of a stab at therapy they class uses. Both understand Faith's feelings toward those who stole her kids and prove invaluable on her nonstop push to uncover the clues that will lead her to wherever her children have been stashed. The first book ends with Faith and her band of vigilantes storming a farmhouse where a criminal enterprise holds girls and rents them out to high-paying johns looking for underage girls to exploit.

Faith's daughter is being groomed to be sold because she's a virgin. She's not even in her teens. A woman, a former mistress of the crime boss running the show, insists the girls call her mother. She runs the house with an iron fist, and abuse is regularly handed out. There is little chance they will be discovered. However, Faith's group, which includes her family, is relentless. But Faith misses finding her daughter. Mother is arrested, and she alone knows where the girl is. Faith gets increasingly distraught. Nothing she's done has worked.

Ragan provides insight into her antagonists' motivations, providing chapters devoted to their perspectives. To them, the flesh trade is simply a means to an end. Young girls are a commodity to be exploited. They detest the fact that Faith has remained in the public eye through the media. They try at every chance to kill her. But Beast is a bounty hunter, and Rage, his ailing sidekick, knows all about the seedier side of life. The group enlists the aid of an escaped sex slave, Miranda.

Faith treats her like a daughter, something Miranda has some trouble accepting. Ragan doesn't cloak any of her story line in panacea. She prefers the cold reality. Faith's family comes apart. Her decisions endanger everybody. She continues to go a little nuts. Yet, she retains her resolve to continue the hunt, despite the many roadblocks.

And that's probably what I liked best about this series.

Product description

Now she continues to fight and search for them with every breath in her. I once again like the multi person point of view in this book.

We get a grasp of each person's feelings and what is going on with them in relation to everything around them. Through the main plot in the book of Faith trying to find her children there are several other little branches of stories, some mentioned in the previous book that are now being explored a little more. Faith's friend, Rage, who is dying really wants to find her son she gave up for adoption. The detective has a little going on here too with his daughter and son in law. These other little stories are good, but the whole time you're reading those you're wondering what's going to happen next for Faith and her children.

I enjoyed this book, if you can say that about such a tough subject matter. It's kind of eye opening to know that these things as human trafficking are out there. In the end, not as much of a cliffhanger on this one but you're still left with that "Oh no! Can't wait for the conclusion of this trilogy to come out.

And her two young c Faith McMann - a mother tiger trying to protect her cubs - and don't get in her way! And her two young children are kidnapped at the same time. This all happened in the first book. This book starts out right where book one ended and Faith, along with the rest of her family and a motley crew of dangerous, dear friends are still trying to move heaven and earth to locate her children. This series takes place around Sacramento, California - a huge hub where human trafficking takes place. And this story doesn't pull any punches so be forewarned. It is terrifying, gut-wrenching and terribly hard to read.

But it's a story that needs to be told. This book might be fiction but it's based on fact. I think the scariest thing to me about this series is that Faith is just a normal woman. She was an elementary school teacher, lived a simple life and loved her family. If this could happen to her, it could happen to any of us. Dec 06, Ionia rated it really liked it. This is a really good book for a second installment in a series, but I didn't feel that it had the same amazing zest as the first book.

While I liked the growth of the main character and the story line itself, I felt like the writing could have been a bit ore fluent in some places and that some of the dialogue felt a little false. Still, this is a mental endurance race that will keep you wondering what is going to happen next and make you want to turn the page. It is easy to relate to and sympat This is a really good book for a second installment in a series, but I didn't feel that it had the same amazing zest as the first book.

It is easy to relate to and sympathise with Faith, and that made it easy for me to keep reading this book. I think any parent that reads this will be rooting for justice to be served. There are some tough, brutal parts of this book that the reader must be able to digest, but let it never be said that the author wasn't realistic--clearly she did her research before writing this book.

In the end, I thought this was a great way to escape the reality of daily life and delve into something that captivated my mind. The reasons behind this become clearer but this doesn't take away the fact that it's so far-fetched and unrealistic that I found it a bit of a chore to read with the only intention of finishing it so that I could plough into the next book on my ever-growing TBR pile. Having said that, I may be tempt In the second instalment of TR Ragan's Faith McMann trilogy we see Faith continue the search for her children who were snatched from their home while their father was savagely killed in front of Faith.

About sex trafficking and a mother whose young children were stolen for that reason. The mother is after revenge and to get her children back. I will be delving into the 3d book of the series next. Ragan has become a favorite author of mine! Nov 13, John rated it liked it. This is the second book in the Faith McMann Trilogy which is essentially just one long book. This book could have used a good editor.

There were a couple of issues that could have been easily and simply corrected. Faith flies into and out of Sacramento to get to Florida. A kind of embarrassing mistake that a good editor should have caught. The book is literally filled with cliches that could be easily fixed. Every minute felt like an hour, every day a week. You couldn't construct a sentence describing how slowly time was moving without resorting to this cliche? So enough about the editing.

The book definitely moves forward quickly and there is a lot of action, some of it a little gory, and that is another issue with this book. Faith McMann's husband has been killed and her children kidnapped her daughter to be human-trafficked, she is one angry woman, as is every other woman in this book it seems. They are all out for revenge, including one character who finds a man who assaulted her and blows him up in a quite unusual manner.

One one level this is an interesting investigation of when characters are driven simply by vengeance. Here is an example passage: They killed her son. Bri had moved away, and Miranda was missing. She had no idea what had become of Dad and Colton. The bastards had fucked with every member of her family, every fiber of her being. As human beings, on the one hand we want to stand up and say, "Yeah, Faith, kick some butt on these dirt bags," because we like vengeance when it is aimed at the bad guys, but not, of course, when it is aimed at us.

Also, and inevitably, vengeance begins to destroy us, and so it does Faith although the author doesn't even seem to be aware of this. Before long she becomes a vengeance machine. Talk to any soldier with PTSD and you'll know that you can't help but be affected by seeing, or experiencing violence, whether you are on the giving or receiving end.

It would seem like the author wants us to think that Faith is only changed in a good way by her experience, but of course when you are shooting and stabbing people, that is impossible, even if you're doing it during righteous vengeance, or what you think is righteous vengeance. Sep 25, Susie Price rated it it was amazing. And then tell others to read it and for them to tell someone! Because this story should be told, as hard as I am sure it was as hard to write about as it was to read but we Need to read it and to share the news for others to read!

Ragan and her publisher Thomas and Mercer for giving us this nasty insight into a very bad world Our world this is our People and that saddens me the most! Goodness I didn't think this trilogy could get any better but boy was I wrong! Bravo to you T. Ragan, I applaud you! I am not going to spoil because it is just to good to spoil, the blurb is plenty. Faith McMann is on a journey to find her two children from the crazed murdering, sexual deviants that love to sale little boys and girls to the right bidder. They killed her husband and stole her children over money, no other reason and have left her filled with Hate and Fury and Now, Now she is just full of Hate and Outrage!

She vows to do what she must to get these vile people. Slowly each raid they have made has saved young kids and put some in jail. Things are going to happen in this book that will make you grit your teeth so hard you think they may crack, I yelled at Faith several times!

Because Fath McMann has become Crazed with getting back at these people as much as getting her children I think and in doing so she doesn't always think before doing things! When they stormed into the Farmhouse guns blazing and came out without either of her children she was still Furious but also so glad for the ones she saved and they had just missed Lara by hours but again by saving so many and finding one of the biggest hideouts. She has them scrambling and scratching their heads saying I thought this was a school teacher.

Even though I knew they would come back for them in some way I loved the writing, I love these characters and some I love to hate but I know exactly how the Nit Wits feel about loosing this business because I feel such hatred for every one of these sick fools and thinking she is just a little school teacher surely Will get them killed!

But since she had been warned and people are targeted but Faith does not care she is plotting away trying anything and everything to get her children back! Things will happen that will make us scream and yell and also be wondering what the heck. The mysteries that are building of who is who is going to be great, The detectives Son in law sorry for an excuse police officer just shows exactly how some cops are dirty but this detective yes the one that she went to jail over now trusts Faith and she puts a Whole lots of things in the palm of his hand that she didn't have to.

The Brink of Darkness

She goes back with Miranda to the Hotel were the old man was tortuous to her all through the night, crazy things happen here. I thought this might be the end and heck we have barely began. Rage, oh Rage I cried my eyes out for the one thing Jana does for Rage. This team of misfits are so very perfect. I do not think you could have chosen a better family and group of characters that your mind came up with and placed them all in the right places at the right time for Faith, the care and trust of people she just Needed!

Its so sick and twisted but also perfect in the blend of characters. The last book is going to blow our minds apart because big things are coming, I believe she will start to destroy these people from the inside out, they will all become so paranoid, I just hope in the end we don't know anyone on this bad side because if they are they most likely will be dead people!

Ragan for stepping up to the plate to write about child abductions and the things that these small kids must endure to live it is unbelievable and is happening every single day. I traveled about 3 hours from home yesterday and stopped with my hubs and grandson and in the bathroom, and right in that bathroom was a poster about Human trafficking and sexual slavery. I wonder if I have ever met or passed by someone that didn't belong with the people they are with but because they have put the fear of life and death and as such a small value to them that these people just go along waiting for that moment in time to die to end it or break away.

I'd say their lives are constantly thinking of how or when can they or if its just impossible because they are so drugged out of their mind! I received this Book from NetGalley to read for an honest review and I fell I have done the best I can, and feel privileged to do so! Read this book, for yourself and for your family because we should Feel every sense and feeling that Faith McMann does, we should feel Furious and Outrage! We should rally to fix it, this story is about sick sick people and they live normally right with us just playing the role of real people but yet they are the Devil's work, it has to be because I cannot figure out any other way for it to be evil to be real!

I was going to wait until I'd read all three books to review this one, but I find I'm having trouble bringing myself to start book 3 in the trilogy.

The subject matter is difficult to deal with. In this trilogy, Faith McMann's children are kidnapped by child traffickers and she goes after them. I won't say any more than that about the plot be I won this book in a goodreads giveaway. I won't say any more than that about the plot because I don't want to give anything away.

The first two books in the trilogy were well written and when I picked them up to read them, I found myself totally caught up in this world and urging our heroine along in her quest. The books read fast and are truly engrossing. I found myself staying up late to finish them. And in fact, I read this second book in a single day. I expect that when I do pick up the third book in this trilogy, the same thing will happen: I'll be absorbed into this world and the book will read quickly. Be advised that human trafficking is a difficult subject to deal with. The books are not overly graphic, but then, they don't really need to be to get the point across.

This makes the books tough to start. But once you're in Ms. McMann's world, it's not difficult to stay there thru the end of the book. I didn't have any nightmares or anything like that, but I definitely wanted something light when I finished each of these first two books and I expect the third one to be the same. I recommend this trilogy very highly, even though the subject matter is difficult.

I've learned a lot so far from the first two books and expect to learn more from the third. I don't think it matters much what your favorite genre is. You need to read these books.
