I make artisan jewelry in my spare time and sell them at local swap meets. And I love to tell stories. Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing? I grew up in a small town in Mexico, which is the subject I write about in my first two books. I have seen the effects of poverty on a family, and this in itself is experience I can relate to when I write about a character who is in the same situation. My father was the main influence on the way I tell a story, he is gone now, but he gave me a gift, that of storytelling, and I have passed it on to my son who is an author himself.
