Only a dozen of the 91 judgments related to people of "relative celebrity" and only 33 were brought against media defendants, she said. Of particular concern was that 39 of the 91 actions, or more than 40 per cent, involved people who had no legal representation. This was "an undesirable percentage for a cause of action where almost no defendants have insurance and where the cost of a trial can be hundreds of thousands of dollars", Judge Gibson said.
